Publisher's summary

Shelly Laurenston turns up the heat with two sizzling novellas.

Christmas Pride: How come all the good-looking ones are insane? That's what runs through NYPD cop Desiree "Dez" MacDermot's mind the minute she hooks up again with her childhood buddy, Mace Llewellyn. It isn't just the way he stares at her with those too-sexy gold eyes, as if he could devour her on the spot. Or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy-SEAL bod-o-death. It isn't even that he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle. It's more about that disconcerting, shifting-from-man-to-lion thing that unhinges her...and makes her want more. Mace likes making Dez crazy. In fact, he likes her any way he can get her...in bed, on the desk, here, now, again. Together, they'd always been trouble, but Dez has no idea just how good trouble can feel.

Shaw's Tail: Brendon Shaw, hotel owner and lion shifter, has seen better days. He's been beaten, had a gun to the back of his head, and had to be rescued by a Pack of shape-shifting wolves. He didn't think he'd survive the night, much less find the woman of his dreams. And he never thought the woman of his dreams would have a Tennessee accent and wear cowboy boots. Once he sets his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go. Ronnie Lee Reed is ready to change her life, and New York City is the place where any girl, even one who runs with a Pack, can redefine herself. First order of business: Find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion-shifting, oh-my-what-big-um-paws-you-have men. Then again...

Looking forward to more!

**Some spoilers**
Great narrator narrator did a nice job in bringing the book to life which kept me engaged.

This is a 2 part story. The first was great. The second, I didn't care for. I found the 2nd a bit too immature/teenager-y for my taste. I also didn't care for Ronnie, in this half. She came across as a spoiled whiney woman.

With that said this is my First read from this author and was pleased with this series beginning. I definitely recommend this to those that love shifters, steamy sexy sensuality, action, strong women leads, enchantingly charming alpha's that not only demonstrate dominance but refreshing chase, vulnerabilty and devotion! If ONLY real life men were as perfectly ideal as Mason. He's got it all, including humor an adorable innocence about his emotions at times. I just adored him.

This is sexually packed and filled with foul language, so if you are easily offended by that, this is not for you.

The mane event good

The mane event was better midway all the way to the end. The first part with Dez and Mace was alittle much. Dez was too abrasive for my taste. Mace was pretty weak for a LION. BOO But I enjoyed Ronnie Lee's story. This story mad the book worth it.

The MOST fun series ever!!!

Loved this series for years now. Re-read all the time, which I NEVER do. Surprised by the narrator. Thought at first she was going to ruin this funny book for me, but she pulled it off amazingly!!! I have hundreds of audio books but this was the best!

Enjoyable novellas!!

These first two novellas were pretty good. They would have been better as full length novels. I am going on with the new one and I'll let you know my thoughts when I'm done.

A bit tedious

The first story was much better than the second. I was looking forward to the second since I enjoyed the introduction of the wolves in the first. The second story started out okay but just became over dramatic and tedious by the end. I kept having to turn down the volume of the narrators because all they seemed to be doing was squabbling.

Why speed up Johanna Parker/Charlotte Kane?

Any additional comments?

In a stroke of genius, the publisher chose Johanna Parker (changing her name to Charlotte Kane) to narrate Shelly Laurenston's Pride series. Shelly Laurenston writes funny, bawdy, "suspend reality and just enjoy" books. They need a skilled narrator to pull them off.

Then in a stroke of sheer stupidity, they mechanically sped up the entire narration! Did they think putting Ms Parker on fast forward would fool dedicated audiobook listeners? Or were they hoping Johanna Parker on speed combined with a name change would distance her from her fame as the narrator of the Sookie Stackhouse series?

Whatever their reasoning, it's disrespectful to the author to not provide her with the best production possible for her audiobook. And insulting to audiobook fans who can easily discern when a book has obviously been adjusted to a higher speed. No human could consistently keep up the pace in this audio.

The accelerated narration has angered fans as can be seen in Audible reviews while others capable of adjusting their ears to the engineered velocity of the narration, remain grateful to see Ms Laurenston's books in audio. I fall into the second camp but...

In the end, I hope Tantor will remove the engineering that unnaturally speeds up the narration and provide us with a quality production to match the caliber of narrator they chose for Shelly Laurenston's series.
