    "Those wonderful Mallorys"

It's been years since I read all of the Mallory books by Lindsey and listening to them is even more fun. Warren's story has a few twists and turns and you wonder whether or not he'll ever give in....but Amy is a wonderful character and she wins in the end.

This reader is great. She captures the personalities of all of the characters without making James and Anthony sound like old geezers.

    "Painful!"

Even though I read the reviews, I thought maybe some were just exaggerating, but they were right on the money! I forced myself to finish listening to this one. Amy is a stalker and a naive and foolish one at that! I think Warren took way too long to beat her butt, it was long overdue.

    "annoying"

I am a big fan of JL books and the Mallory series but this one was bad. Amy is beyond annoying, she is like a modern day stalker. It is beyond unrealistic to be rejected so many times and yet remain so confident you are going to get your way. That plus the entire book hyped up all of the other characters more than the two stars of this one.

It is not the absolute worst read but it was close

    Story
    "If you love the Mallory's...."
Where does The Magic of You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Just like all the other Mallory books I've read or listen to, The Magic of You is a wonderful story, and definitely up there among my favorites.

What did you like best about this story?

The character Amy, you can't help but love her, even if she's a bit crazy at times.

What three words best describe Laural Merlington’s performance?

    Consistent, fun, enjoyable

    Any additional comments?

If you've never listen to Laural Merlington narrate before, you probably won't super like her, but she's never bothered me, and now I'm used to hearing her voice(s). If you're already a fan, I'd definitely recommend this, but if you've never heard or read a Mallory novel before, I'd suggest starting with one from earlier in the series, just so that you'll understand the background better.

    "LOVE THOSE MALLORYS!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I was hooked on the Mallory books after book one "Love Only Once". I would highly recommend to anyone looking for high romance and interesting twists in the story.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the way the characters continue to interact and weave throughout the books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

My husband says I'm "hooked" and is sometimes jealous that I would rather listen to these books than watch TV with him. He does benefit from the amorous mood these put me into afterwards! ♥♥♥

    "borderline"

I absolutely love Johanna Lindsey books especailly the malory novels all of which I have read. Though not my favorite novel I have to say that the book is good if abit on the unrealistic side of things. Amy's character was abit annoying at times. I felt that the narrator needed alot of help especially when she did the mens' voices, she practically made James and Anthony Malory seem like two old geezers and when she laughed I fairly cringed. I think for an audio book to come across as effective especially after one has read the books different characters should be voiced by different people. That's my honest opinion. women should neverf try to do an man's voice and vice versa

"Loses 2 stars for the Narrator"

I love the Mallory novels and this offering is par for the course. All the usual suspects appear in the book and it's like a family reunion at times. If you are a fan of the series, you will probably enjoy this book. The narrator is another story. After three books narrated by her you would think I would be use to the her by now, but the things that are annoying about her just keep getting more annoying with each book. Her voice is pleasant enough in plain narrator form and she does a fair job with the female voices, but the male voices all sound like differing versions of a haughty Billy Goat Gruff! My biggest pet peeve is that she performs the laughter. When the characters laugh, instead of just reading the phrases, "he laughed" or "chuckled James" etc, she actually imitates the laughter. The sound sends chills down my spine. It's terribly annoying and borderline creepy when it is a male character laughing. Ms. Merlington if you ever read any reviews...Please, Please, Please stop imitating the laughter and simply read it.

    "Good Story"

Best to listen to this book if you are very familiar with the Mallory saga. Otherwise it gets very long to listen to characters you don't know have their own side story. I know them so the story was great.

I know the narrator was just doing her best but I do have to say I cringed when ever she did the Chinese accent. It was akin to putting on black face paint and singing "Mameee" or "Ol' man river".
