Publisher's summary

With The Look of Love, best-selling author Bella Andre introduces you to a fun and emotional contemporary romance series about the Sullivan family. Because when a Sullivan bad boy falls...he falls hard. And it's forever.

Chloe Peterson is having a bad night. A really bad night. The large bruise on her cheek can attest to that. And when her car skids off the side of a wet country road straight into a ditch, she's convinced even the gorgeous guy who rescues her in the middle of the rain storm must be too good to be true. Or is he?

As a successful photographer who frequently travels around the world, Chase Sullivan has his pick of beautiful women, and whenever he's home in San Francisco, one of his seven siblings is usually up for causing a little fun trouble. Chase thinks his life is great just as it is - until the night he finds Chloe and her totaled car on the side of the road in Napa Valley. Not only has he never met anyone so lovely, both inside and out, but he quickly realizes she has much bigger problems than her damaged car. Soon, he is willing to move mountains to love-and protect-her, but will she let him?

Chloe vows never to make the mistake of trusting a man again. Only, with every loving look Chase gives her - and every sinfully sweet caress - as the attraction between them sparks and sizzles, she can't help but wonder if she's met the only exception. And although Chase didn't realize his life was going to change forever in an instant, amazingly, he isn't the least bit interested in fighting that change. Instead, he's gearing up for a different fight altogether - for Chloe's heart.

(NOTE: Explicit language, very steamy sex scenes...and lots of emotion!)

great series

Where does The Look of Love rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I did not listen in order. This is a family and linked but not necessary to listen in order

What did you like best about this story?

the family link and intro to all brothers. If you only pick one, Marcus's story pretty much covers if you want to get a good idea of this series before you want to listen to all.

Did Eva Kaminsky do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I do not like this reader...reads too slow for me. Male voice is good and the stories are good. This reader reads AKA Jill Redfield and her Feral sins pace was so much faster andso much better. I did not realize it was the same reader until she said the name Marcus which is a great brother in this series. So if slow reading is Ok for you, then this is a great series. I did enjoy all the stories and put up with the slow pace.

Any additional comments?

Not sure if producer or author has the say over the pace or breathy reading voice. Who ever chooses must read the reviews from listeners. I stopped this series after Movie actor brother, Smith, he was fave character and I waited for his story. But I could not listen to another slow pace read on last sister story. I didget 1 of the fire fighters series, but way too slow. I have not finished and do not have the desire to finish. If this same reader read that series as Feral Sins pace= winner. Bella A, you need to check it out.

The Sullivan's have hooked me..

Listened/Read for Fun (Combo Purchase)/Read for Review (Audible/Book Trib/Kindle)
Overall Rating: 4.00
Story Rating: 3.75
Character Rating: 4.25

Audio Rating: 3.75 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought when Finished: The Sullivan’s have hooked me!

Story Thoughts: The Look of Love was a strong beginning to what is shaping up to be a wonderful series (I don’t know why I waited so long to try these). Going to say up front that stories about women who are strong enough to make a break from an abusive situation always tug at my heartstrings. The fact that Bella took time to write the story (with follow through) was fantastic. The timeline of the romance between Chloe and Chase was a little “quick” for me but I found myself rooting for them to work it out. I am glad that I heard we will see them in future books in the series.

Character Thoughts: The Sullivan’s are going to be a crew to contend with if Chase is anything to go on. Chase was strong, compassionate, creative, and knew his heart. I love when the guy is the first one to fall and Chase stole my heart when he did. Chloe was a lot guarded (understandably)so she was harder to warm up to but I was pulling for her to work through her issues. This was a great romance for Chase and Chloe, I felt it matched them as a couple.

Audio Thoughts

Narrated By Eva Kaminsky/ Length: 6 hrs and 58 mins

Eva did a great job with Chloe’s voice and emotion. The pacing was also excellent in this narration. I wasn’t a huge fan of Chase’s voice but overall this was a pretty decent audiobook.

Final Thoughts: Can’t wait to delve into the next book in The Sullivans series.

Good but Average

Would you try another book from Bella Andre and/or Eva Kaminsky?

Probably not unless it was deeply on sale.

If you’ve listened to books by Bella Andre before, how does this one compare?

First one I have listened to from Bella Andre, I would be willing to give another one a try, they aren't bad, just a bit boring

Which scene was your favorite?

Not any one in particular

Was The Look of Love worth the listening time?

Yes, but I am glad I didn't pay full price for it.

Any additional comments?

This is a great love story but there is no excitement

i stumbled upon this book when searching for books about "plus size romance" and I'm very glad I did. I've been enthralled with the Sullivan family ever since.

What a flaming disappointment!

I LOVE romance; it's my favorite genre. I'm a voracious reader. I had high expectations for this book (and series)....and found it to be a significant let down. Pacing dragged. Percentage of pages devoted solely to sexual encounters between hero and heroine was excessive. The final "big disaster" was desperately rushed such that it fell flat.

Much of the disappointment is because of choice of narrator-- nasal intonations came and went (dissolving my patience), emotion lacked, male voices grated, and it simply wasn't a good fit with the book.

The book did have strengths: setting, sensory details were rich, lovable hero (even if his motivations were weak upon occasion).

I'll probably try one of Andre's newer Sullivan books, as I wanted so much to love this first in the series.

Could NOT even finish it!

It took me 5 days to get this finished and I still had to stop it 10 minutes before it was done, I had enough. Badly written and boring.
