Grrrrrrrreat

I experienced all kinds of emotions from exasperation to joy to anger to happiness. I found myself talking back in anger and laughing out loud. Truly one of the greatest books I've listened to in a very long time.

Poor narration

I always enjoy Julie Garwood’s books and eagerly purchased this one. From the very beginning I found the narrators’ s presentation irritating. She uses a sing-song style of speaking and her various voices were not appropriate for the characters. In spite of the well writing story it was a struggle to listen.

I love everything I read by Julie Garwood and this was another 5 star read for me truly amazing and different story plot. loved it! so many sweet and laugh out loud moments

Intonation left the story lacking.

I love this story. I've probably read out about fifteen to twenty times since I first read it in 2002. I didn't like the actor's intimations all the lines ended with the same tone. almi at like each line was read separately instead of the paragraph read as a whole. The voices were almost all the same but there was an attempt to differentiate betwixt characters. I hope the next book isn't the same.

Good short read!

Julie Garwood is an automatic download for me and this novel did not disappoint. The couple is sweet and funny. There is plenty of sexual tension, and the love scenes are beautifully written and moving. I love the fact that the hero did not struggle for long with his feelings and that he was not ashamed to admit them to the heroine. The villian of the piece is ROTTEN and pure evil. You sympathize with these characters and want the best for them. Worth a credit! Susan Duerden is much more suited to this title than to the Highland titles. I would suggest you always listen to the sample for the narrator, but I found that I liked her style in this novel. Happy Listening!

Julie Garwood does it again!

This book is great! I loved the story, the characters and the narration. I don't like to give spoilers so I will just say if you like strong characters and a great romance then you will love this book. Susan Duerden is a wonderful narrator. She did a great job distinguishing between the characters.

too much wispering via the Narrator. All else fun.

All fun except for the Narrator and the frequent wispers. very Nice historical romance otherwise.

One of the best writers ever. Her style is her own...period! I can even count how often I have visited and re-read her stories.

Enjoyed the story line and how the author wove in telling the back story with the diary.

Liked the strong woman being an equal partner with her husband. Christina is a wonderful character.
