I Enjoy Anita Blake Books

I have read the majority of the Anita Blake series and my favorite books are the first few because it is more about the story and figuring it out.

I also like the Anira Blake character. She is not perfect nor is she trying to be. She is honest and humorous. I like her sarcasm and comments. She is easy to like.

I believe the voice actor is very fitting. She is Anita Blake in my mind. She does good voices too which makes the story fun and easier to listen to.

Great fun to listen to!

WOW!! This was a fun book to listen to!! Laurell K. Hamilton's shoot-from-the-hip smart alec style was only enhanced by Kim Alexis' reading of it! I've listened to it 5 times already, and will again!

Great Story But...

I love all of the Anita Blake books- excellent stories. The narration by Kimberly Alexis is a mixed bag, if she would just read the book in her own voice this would have been 5 stars. She tries to do voices that don't fix the characters and just don't sound good at all. Makes the book difficult to listen to.
And like others have noted, the sound effects and music are distracting in an audiobook.

Surprisingly enjoyable.

My good friend turned me into this series. I had low expectations but have been pleasantly surprised because of the simple fact the characters feel real to me. They are not perfect people. They grow on you. even the callous ones you see they are who they are because of things that have happened in their past.

Climax?

Loved this book overall. I felt like it took me a bit to really get into it. But I actually loved the womans voice and it didn't sound boring. The music was an added little bonus for suspense!

Amazing READ!!!

What made the experience of listening to The Laughing Corpse the most enjoyable?

I would have to say the story that Laurell K. Hamilton wrote. She pulls you into Anita's world and I loved following her along on another one of her adventures.

What did you like best about this story?

I would have to say that I love the action and how Anita kicks anyone who stands in her way with her own special way.

Which character – as performed by Kimberly Alexis – was your favorite?

Anita Blake is my favorite with Jean Claude a close second. Honestly all the characters that Kimberly does are amazing. She is an incredible Narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me smile and then I was biting my nails as Anita fought the bad guys.

Any additional comments?

We find Anita Blake in trouble yet again. Harold Gaynor a wealthy man offers Anita an obscene amount of money to raise a 300+ year-old zombie. The only problem Anita doesn't do human sacrifice. All the while she is embroiled with the police in a mystery of bodies being destroyed by what appears to be a rabid zombie. Could the two cases be linked? What will she do about Mr. Gaynor when he won't take no for an answer and he will do anything to make Anita bend to his will? Another great story in this series. I love how Anita is getting sucked into more of Jean Claude's antics. I truly am in love with this series and I can't wait to read the next book. Another must read from Laurell K. Hamilton.
