Publisher's summary

From number-one New York Times best-selling author Debbie Macomber comes a heartwarming new series based in the Pacific Northwest town of Cedar Cove, where a charming cast of characters finds love, forgiveness, and renewal behind the doors of the cozy Rose Harbor Inn.

Jo Marie Rose first arrives in Cedar Cove seeking a sense of peace and a fresh start. Coping with the death of her husband, she purchases a local bed-and-breakfast - the newly christened Rose Harbor Inn - ready to begin her life anew. Yet the inn holds more surprises than Jo Marie can imagine.

Her first guest is Joshua Weaver, who has come home to care for his ailing stepfather. The two have never seen eye to eye, and Joshua has little hope that they can reconcile their differences. But a long-lost acquaintance from Joshua's high school days proves to him that forgiveness is never out of reach and love can bloom even where it's least expected.

The other guest is Abby Kincaid, who has returned to Cedar Cove to attend her brother's wedding. Back for the first time in 20 years, she almost wishes she hadn't come; the picturesque town harbors painful memories from her past. And while Abby reconnects with family and old friends, she realizes she can only move on if she truly allows herself to let go.

The Inn at Rose Harbor is a welcome introduction to an unforgettable set of friends.

it was okay

this is one of those books that while reading or listening you enjoy but by the time it ends and sets it self up for the book that is to follow your left wondering if you really want to make a commitment to getting into the entire series. which i'm still not sure if i want to go there.
i also found the narration to be a bit annoying especially the male voices.

A new beginning with old friends

I enjoyed how she started a new series with sprinkles of familiar characters from her popular Cedar Cove Series. A good read.

Excellent! Well worth my credits!!

Would you listen to The Inn at Rose Harbor again? Why?

It's a beautiful story, very well narrated.

What did you like best about this story?

It's like three stories in one, as a bonus, we get to visit with some characters from the wonderful Cedar Cove series.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

She brings to life the story and characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I felt the sadness, happiness and hope of the people in it.

Three stories in one but 2 very predictable

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The reader.

Would you be willing to try another one of Lorelei King’s performances?

I didn't care for the reader of this book. I thought that she was too breathy and too monotone in the reading.

Any additional comments?

This was basically a three stories in one that connected. Two of the stories I thought were quite predictable. The story that I was most interested in didn't seem to finish. I have to admit that I was intrigued by the write up, but disappointed in the entire story.

Undecided

Would you consider the audio edition of The Inn at Rose Harbor to be better than the print version?

I don't think so. I didn't care for the narrator too much. I thought the different voices sounded odd.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the bed and breakfast idea but the characters and storyline seemed off somehow. For one thing, the inn owner and both guests were all dealing with death. That seemed a bit over the top.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

I liked the straight narration but didn't care for the "voices" of the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was glad Josh and Richard made peace but it was a bit strained I thought.

Any additional comments?

While I liked the premise, the story writing and characters felt off a bit. I didn't care much for the narration and I'm wondering if I would have liked it more had I read it in print form. I gave it 4 stars reluctantly...but I'm not sure I'd read another Macomber book.

Macomber & King Deliver!

Debbie Macomber writes to the heart and Lorelei King has such a warm, affective voice. My eyes tear up and my heart swells as Ms. Macomber includes me on the personal journey of the people in her stories. Well worth experiencing.
