The New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Laurens has created her most provocative love story - and amazing hero - to date.
Michael Anstruther-Wetherby is a man destined for power. But Michael lacks the single most important element of success: a wife. Michael searches for his ideal bride - a gently bred, malleable young lady (preferably one with a political background). He discovers such a paragon, but finds a formidable obstacle in his path - the young lady's beautiful, strong minded aunt.

I really enjoy this author and especially this narrator. I have been a fan of the Cynster books for years, and this book continues the series. The hero is the brother of the heroine of the first Cynster novel. Although a little slow in the beginning, the book has a few twists in the plot that I really enjoyed. Keep them coming!
I like SL books because she always includes a great mystery in with all that angst and lovemaking! One reviewer complained there was too much sex, well as I was listening I was wondering when we were going to get to all that sex, but was also immediately caught up in the story. Well, when the sex did come, it was STEAMY! All I can say is this is another great one by SL! Not only did she show true love, hurt, and mystery, she surprised me at the end! I initially suspected the culprit, but eliminated the person only to find out that WAS the culprit! Great character building. I recognized many of the characters from previous SL books, but they did not overwhelm. Now I have to go see if she wrote any books about some of the other interesting characters in this book!
Simon Prebble is one of my all time favorite narrators. He manages to portray each character well, which is quite surprising when you consider that deep gravely voice he has. I have read books just because he was narrating them!
Honestly, I love Stephanie Laurens and all the Cynster novels and Simon Prebble so Yes I will read another of her books. On this one however I am quite disappointed. Not sure why but this one seems to be sex scene after sex scene every 5 minutes. Go for a walk and stop and have sex. Have sex in the middle of a party. I literallly listened for 50 minutes straight and the entire content was a sex scene. I am saying sex in this review as often as it happened in this book and I have two more hours to go :-( I find myself listening and saying enough already, lets get to the plot.
LOVE Simon Prebble! One of my favorite narrators.
um NO unless it was x-rated
A book filled with edge of your seat segments and a gripping love story with great passionate scenes. I loved everything about this book. Will now go back and purchase some of the other books in the series starting with the first. Purchase with confidence knowing you will not be disappointed.
I feel so badly that I have to rate this so low. It was difficult for me to realize that this was a Stephanie Laurens book. I had such a hard time finding this book interesting. The characters were flat and the story, although full of potential, lacked excitement. Frankly, it was boring. Even fabulously talented authors can have a bad day. This can be Laurens' "bad day." She has many excellent books and this won't stop me from reading more.
Both Michael and Caro could have been awesome characters. He's a politician; not the usual hero found in this genre. Caro is an independent woman not looking for a husband. Too bad their story wasn't told better.
As usual, Simon Prebble did a fantastic job as narrator of the audiobook. He is an amazing voice for all the characters.
I like this Series but far to munch sex. Drowns out the story.
Far to much sex. One was good. The rest was just boring.
A good wine.
This story was very good, the characters was easily to identify with, as with the story line. Great read as usual.
Enjoyed the characters and interplay.
Love, love, love him!
There were several humerous points and actually made me laugh outloud.
