RITA Award Winner, Best Paranormal Romance, 2001

A warrior of immortal powers....

He was a mighty Scottish warrior who lived in a world bound by ancient laws and timeless magic. But no immortal powers could prepare the laird of Castle Brodie for the lovely accursed lass who stood before him. A terrible trick of fate had sent her 700 years back in time and into his private chamber to tempt him with her beauty - and seduce him with a desire he could never fulfill. For this woman he burned to possess was also the woman he had foresworn to destroy.

A woman caught in the mists of time....

When Lisa felt the earth move under her feet, the fiercely independent 21st-century woman never dreamed she was falling...into another century. But the powerful, naked warrior who stood glaring down at her was only too real...and too dangerously arousing.

Irresistibly handsome he might be, but Lisa had no intention of remaining in this savage land torn by treachery and war. How could she know that her seductive captor had other plans for her...plans that would save her from a tragic fate? Or that this man who had long ago forsaken love would defy time itself to claim her for his own?

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

Critic reviews

"Phil Gigante's smooth and sexy Scots brogue is so well done that listeners may think Sean Connery himself is delivering this time-travel tale." ( AudioFile)

Oh Adam

I fell in love with Adam Black in the first book in this series and then continue to do so in this book. Sin was just that, such and amazing man and then there is Lisa. Sometimes I wanted to strangle her, but others I just wanted to hold her.

This series has always spoke to me.

Another great audio by Phil Giganti

As a fan of Karen Marie Mining's work, I used to believe there could never ba a reader who could deliver the story in a believable way, the male and female voices. But Phil Giganti performs very well!

A Highlander’s Touch? Yes, please!

Well…. This is a hard one to review. The story starts out dark and foreboding, with a touch of brevity. If one has followed the series, there is one character whom we previously met… from Book 1. Aye, the Dark Elf himself, so there is a Fae magic somewhere in the story. Although the main story focuses on Cin and Lisa; the Douglas brothers are secondary characters who do not stay flat. In fact, there are certain areas in the story that lead me to believe that the next book in the series would be about one or both. Yet, none of the stories pick up on their tale. It is confounding, especially when the next in the series focuses on characters not yet introduced? I do not understand. Had it or any of the remaining novels been about the Douglas brothers, I would have purchased it or spent the credit. There was an entire chapter, about 2/3 of the way through, that gave Duncan pause about his fun-loving licentious dalliances. Yet, it went no where… not in the story and not in the series. Perhaps one is coming? Or could newly be considered?

Phil Gigante’s Scottish Brogue and general narration is enjoyable, even sexy. However, the voice for Lisa really is disconcerting. It grated. I did not find this in the 3 other books I listened to in this series, not to point it bothered me so.

All in all I enjoyed the listened. The tone changed a great deal from dark at the beginning, even the middle, to big shift near the end. It seemed to end quickly as well. That might have been the golden opportunity to use this story as a great segue to the Douglas brothers’ tale. Just my humble opinion. All in all, I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Scottish history, time travel, and paranormal romance.

Karen Moning Rocks

Really this is great romantic fantasy! If you like that kind of stuff you will enjoy this series. It is way more romantic than the fever series and less dark and traumatic.

Sexy Highlander Paranormal Romance.

I have read all of Karen Marie Moning's books and I love them all, especially the Highlander series. As they have come on sale I have picked them up and now I own them all on audiobook. I am relistening to them again periodically . My favorites are The Highlander's Kiss and Spell of a Highlander but I like them all really well. The narrator is super sexy especially his highland accent, but admittedly not the greatest female voices.
