A warrior of immortal powers....

He was a mighty Scottish warrior who lived in a world bound by ancient laws and timeless magic. But no immortal powers could prepare the laird of Castle Brodie for the lovely accursed lass who stood before him. A terrible trick of fate had sent her 700 years back in time and into his private chamber to tempt him with her beauty - and seduce him with a desire he could never fulfill. For this woman he burned to possess was also the woman he had foresworn to destroy.

A woman caught in the mists of time....

When Lisa felt the earth move under her feet, the fiercely independent 21st-century woman never dreamed she was falling...into another century. But the powerful, naked warrior who stood glaring down at her was only too real...and too dangerously arousing.

Irresistibly handsome he might be, but Lisa had no intention of remaining in this savage land torn by treachery and war. How could she know that her seductive captor had other plans for her...plans that would save her from a tragic fate? Or that this man who had long ago forsaken love would defy time itself to claim her for his own?

Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

"Phil Gigante's smooth and sexy Scots brogue is so well done that listeners may think Sean Connery himself is delivering this time-travel tale." ( AudioFile)

Fabulous!!

This one was better than the first two books. The narrator for the men was fantastic. Not so great for the women, but not horrid. The story was fun and sexy. I felt the author did a good job of merging fantasy and reality. This is one I would definately recommend.

Sean Connery and the Drag Queen

I liked this story, I really did. The narrator did an excellent job "narrating" but every time he had the hero speak I kept thinking that at some point he learned to impersonate Sean Connery in Hunt for Red October and never got over it. Sean, I mean the hero, had his moments and some of it pretty hot, but how did he get stuck with the heroine who sounded like a female impersonator? She wasn't well drawn in the first place, they kept saying she was strong, but every time she opened her mouth, she sounded hysterical (oh, an in case you don't pick it up from the plot, she's worried about her mother...). The hero was made of stronger stuff than I at being willing to spend eternity with that one.

I liked the mythical characters in the last hour or so of the book which dwells heavily on them. I'm not usually interested in faeries, but the "bad" guy has potential for a book of his own.

I'd buy another book by this author, I just hesitate at making it an audible book due to the characters' voices. This otherwise would have been a 5 star review.

Time traveling fun

Would you listen to The Highlander's Touch again? Why?

I have listened to this book 4 times and read it twice, it's so much fun to listen to.

What did you like best about this story?

The time traveling aspect is a big favorite of mine and the paired with Scottish history it's a win win.

Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

If you haven't listened to Phil Gigante's narrating before your missing out. Paired with Ms. Moning's writing, this is a match made in historical romance heaven, his rich sensual voice is like a rich golden whiskey on a cold and frosty night warming you right down to your toes.

Any additional comments?

If you love Hunky Scottish hero's and sassy modern women then you will love this book.

I'm totally hooked!

easy listening, suspenseful, charismatic, well conceived characters. reminds me of the fever series since there is some scottish magical lore, faeries, sifting. This is my favorite one from the Highlander series so far and i'm listening in sequence. It departs from the prior too as now there is time sifting and faeries and elves and such. Sounds silly even to say but thoroughly enjoyable. I like Phil Gigante's narration very much. Even his female voices are great! Highly recommend Highlander Book 3, especially if you listened to the Fever series and enjoyed it.

Riveting

This is one of my favorite books of the Highlander series because of all the Scottish history background. The historical aspects serve as the perfect backdrop for Circen’s complex character. He is by far my favorite Moning Highlander. He shares very similar characteristics with Adam, Drustan, Daegus, and even Cian, as he and Cian are from the same century, but what I love about him most is that he is a perfect combination of all these magnificent characters. With a touch of Adam’s Fae Magic, Drustan’s sense of duty and loyalty, Daegus’ sultry sensuality, and Cian’s brawn and savagery he is the perfect highlander, and of course let’s not forget to mention intelligence. I have been listening to these books in reverse order, and so far I have loved every one. I started with Immortal, then Dark, then Kiss, then Spell, and now Touch. Now I plan to listen to Tame a Highland Warrior. I can’t wait ! You can’t go wrong with any of these books, believe me !

Disappointed

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really. This is my first Moning Highlander book. I had heard and read such positive reviews of her books I thought I should venture into the water during my Gabaldon "Outlander" wait for book #9.

If you’ve listened to books by Karen Marie Moning before, how does this one compare?

First one I've listened to.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Lisa's voice was irritating to me. All the men's voices were great.

Was The Highlander's Touch worth the listening time?

Only in that I didn't have any other audible book to listen to on my commute to work.

Any additional comments?

I'm spoiled. Having long been a Diana Gabaldon "Outlander" series fan, I was looking for another Scottish series to read/listen to while waiting for Book #9 to be written and for the mini-series to return in April. I had heard nothing but wonderful things about Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series and so decided to try it.

I think my disappointment stems from the inescapable comparison in writing and audible book narrations for the two series. If I had read/listened to these books first, I'm sure my enjoyment would have been much greater, but after Outlander, this book really paled in comparison.

Sorry Ms. Moning. I cannot write myself, and so I give you kudos and great credit for writing these books, but they didn't do it for me.

The Highlander's Touch

If you could sum up The Highlander's Touch in three words, what would they be?

Time Travel Romance

What did you like best about this story?

Circenn and Lisa's reunion. It would make a great movie.

Which character – as performed by Phil Gigante – was your favorite?

Circenn, loved the accent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both. It is a very emotional story, especially when Lisa got her family back.

Any additional comments?

Wish there were more stories like this one.

Was okay

The story was alright, but the female character comes across so whiny. The narrator did not help. His female voice pulls you right out of the story.

Worst narrator ever

would like to think i would like the book better if i read it myself, but honestly i will never be able to get the narrators voice out of my head. He was fine as the guy even though i found his accent inconsistent (sometimes he sounded more deep south than Scottish.) But when he read the female character's parts, it was just plain bad. Dont waste your credits. I thought the others were exagerating- they werent. It is that bad.

Pass on this

The story had lots of gaps in bringing the fantasy world to fully believable life. The male narrator's attempt at all the female voices was horrible. This includes how he did the heroine which made me start to dislike her just because of his grating falsetto. This was a disappointment.
