Intent on winning a Lowlander's tournament, Bran MacLeod travels south with his laird. All goes as planned, except spirited Miss Enya Ross continually distracts him, and in the oddest situations. With no business lusting after a baron's daughter, Bran decides to return to Raasay - until his laird pledges Bran's services in the fight to reinstate Mary, Queen of Scots to the throne.
Enya has no deference for the lines of nobility, or for the Great Divide that separates Lowlanders from Highlanders. The way Sir Bran's eyes hunger for her ignites an internal fire Enya cannot quell. All her life she's wanted adventure and excitement, but now her every thought is consumed with the rugged Highlander.
With all odds stacked against them, can their forbidden love withstand the tumult of war and the menace of betrayal?

I would strongly recommend this audio book! it adds a new level to the story!
Ms. Jarecki really captured the Scottish essence in this story! It was captivating from beginning to end! I loved her rich characters Bran and Enya. As soon as their eyes connect, love is in the air! Great characters, a tight plot with it's twists and turns, and the perfect atmospheric setting for this adventure!
Brad Wills has the perfect voice for a Scottish narration!
Some scenes made me giggle!
If you haven't read or listened to Ms. Jarecki's books, don't hesitate, go and grab them. They are fascinating and so captivating!
It was a very enjoyable listen.
I liked both the heroine Enya and the hero Bran, for the intrigue and romance brought to life by Brad Wills narration
There were several memorable scenes that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to.
I thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable story to listen to. There were several times that you sigh or growl at.
Brad Wills marvellous narration brought Amy Jarecki's wonderful story to life
My favorite books are 'Historical Romance'. A good book takes you away from your everyday life & puts you in the middle of an adventure.
Brad Wills pours his heart and soul into the performance of each character. A beautifully narrated story, filled with emotion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Highland Henchman: Highland
By Amy Jarecki
A captivating adventure.
True love can conquer all in this breathtaking and thrilling story of Bran and Enya. A concept older than time of society's expectations for whom one is expected to marry, but the heart only see's and feels love, not one's station or status. Bran MacLeod is born of low birth. His mother works in the kitchen and he is but a henchman to his Laird. Then his eyes see Enya Ross, a beauty far above Bran's station. Enya notices this big, handsome highlander and can't seem to take her eyes off him. As Bran does everything to keep his distance from Enya, she does everything to get closer to him. This is a powerful, captivating story filled with well developed characters. A very exciting plot filled with backstabbing intrigue and a most beautiful romance. Everything a reader wants in a great highland story. An absolute must read. Although I highly recommend the audiobook version. It is beautifully narrated. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
books are my drug of choice :D
Another delightful story from Ms. Jarecki. I loved Bran, an honourable & loyal warrior and Enya is a perfect match for him, sassy and fearless. Their story is full of obstacles, but love wins in the end and they get their HEA, my fave kind of end.
I am a big fan of Mr. Wills narrations and I really enjoyed this one too. Thank you for another great listen.
Yes I would recommend this audiobook to friends because it's a perfect example of a wonderful exciting story, with a wide range of characters that the narrator 'read' really well.
My favourite character was Bran, the hero. He is the perfect man, thoughtful, caring, loyal, and he'd lay down his life to protect those he loves. He has a heart of gold and is a hero in every sense of the word.
I really enjoyed Brad's narrative voice, I could listen to a whole book read in just his voice without the characterisation! The fact that he is so good at all the different voices he takes on is just a bonus. It amazes me how he can go from a really gruff man's voice, to a young woman's voice so flawlessly. It's a relief to know that a man can take on a woman's voice without sounding like one of David Walliam's female characters from the BBC series Little Britain.
Definitely it would have been wonderful to have had the time to listen to the whole book in one sitting. I managed it in two though, so that wasn't too bad.
I think to begin with people may find the Scottish accents that Brad portrays a little difficult to follow. That isn't a fault of Brad's, it just proves how good he is at his job. The Scottish accent IS difficult to follow. I just want to say that even if you struggle a little at the start to understand it, by chapter 2 or 3 you should be able to follow it easily. Persevere, it is definitely worth it.
This is such a wonderful story written by Amy and narrated by the best in the business, Brad Wills. I felt as though I was living every minute along side with the people in this book. All her life Enya Ross wanted adventure and excitement, but now her every thought is consumed with the rugged Highlander, Bran MacLeod. What an adventure it was. I loved it!
Everybody gave it a good review, but I found the book angered me. I liked the first book between Anne & Calum, but in my option in this book Calum is a Bad/Betraying Guy.
The Love Between Bran & Enya.
He did fine.
THE PART THAT MOVED ME TO START HATING IT & JUST WANTING IT TO END.
WHEN THE CALUM SHOWED HIS TRUE COLORS (BETRAYER).
I can't believe the characters forgive these people for betraying them. I can understand Enya forgiving her handmaiden (Heather, I Think) for telling on her. She did it thinking it was the best not knowing, but Calum's betrayal ended with her being basically tortured & then loosing her baby. I'm sorry but I would look at Calum like this is your fault & would never be able to trust him again. Let alone have him stand up next to you at your wedding or even owe him anything. Calum & especially Malcolm should owe Bran & Enya for the life they helped kill (Enya's Baby). Like I said above I HATED the Entire Ending & Because it was so bad I give this book 2 stars.
I felt for Enya when she was .brought to the Nuns. She lost her Child but it was not Collums's fault, he did not know she was with child.
Amy Jarecki, is fantastic author and she provides so many twist and turns that you feel connected to the characters.
This is the second book in the series and I can not wait to read the third. So much intrigue...don't hesitate to listen to the story. Bare with the narrator, he does an excellent Scottish accent but it takes until chapter two to fully grasp it.
I couldn't listen long enough to make a valid assessment. The narrator spoiled it for me before I could get through the first chapter!
The narrator's british accent was very deep, and his scottish brogue was even deeper. At times I (american) could not understand what he was saying. I had to continually rewind to listen to a line a few times to get the full meaning. I finally gave up half way through the first chapter!
