Publisher's summary

Bennett James has built his career at being the best, on and off the ice, and now it's come back to bite him. The media has turned against him, and with a near career-ending injury, he needs to clean up his act and prove that he's serious about the game. For Bennett, working with his old coach at his alma mater feels like a step back, but it might be just what he needs.

Grace Wentworth has always been the good girl, and she's tired of that stigma. She wants to prove that she can get down and dirty with the best of them. The problem? She doesn't know how.

Bennett will teach the good girl how to be bad, if she pretends to be his goody-two-shoes girlfriend in front of the media. But what happens when the game becomes real?

Loved it up until...

I loved this book all the way up until the last 30 minutes. It ended rather quickly. Was hoping for something a little more at the end, but over all it's a great read.

Loved it until...

Spoilers.. No way... He was honest with her always and told her everything and then he is accused of a crime involving his coach and she bails. Just no. Then he took her back and throwing sour patches in the middle of an NHL is a "GRAND JESTURE" No! Make it make sense. Don't write a beautiful story and the kick us in the gut the last 30 minutes. I beg you rewrite it. If this book wasn't free I would have returned it and put you on my banned author list.

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️SPOILERS.....🤬AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH

The overall audiobook ⭐️⭐️⭐️, overall story ⭐️⭐️⭐️, Male narrator⭐️⭐️ male voice was nice.....his female voices were difficult to listen. If the story wouldn't been so well written I would have DNF after chapter 6. The inflections were off, they had weird nasal baby talk. It was cringy. Female narrator ⭐️⭐️⭐️ her male voice work was much easier on my ears. 🎛🎚🎤 with all the technology we have PIECE TOGETHER FULL DUETS TO AVOID THIS CRAP.
☢️FIRST: 🤬I am so pissed off at the twist in the storyline. 🤯My Blood is STILL boiling! My neighbors probably think I'm crazy; earbuds on fullblast, and I'm screaming and cussing for the last 53m42s of this book! Really⁉️⁉️⁉️ A underage rape charge⁉️⁉️ 🤯MOTHER 🤬F🤬' N BULLSH¡T‼️‼️ Her entire family believing the media report is one thing, they've only seen him for three weeks and his womanizer history is true. BUT FOR HER TO BELIEVE THE REPORT⁉️⁉️⁉️🤬 No, no, no ,no‼️‼️‼️ The way he treated her, cared for her, took 2 months to kiss her for fk sake! Then at every single step asking for concent when SHE ACTED on her desire for sexual firsts.....omg.... just stop 🚫‼️ How could she believe the 🚩reported evidence🚩 ⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️ I Hate her. She does not deserve him. Her apology should have been ground breaking groveling. Her apology was as weak as her stupid Christmas present!!!!
➡️Second: tattoos should have been reversed; she should have had the Sour candy and she should have put a crown on him. ➡️ Three: at one point MMC inner dialog says he's been respectful of her family/father: no, neither of you were. 1️⃣ snuck into her room for sex. Get a hotel. 2️⃣ I am full stop supporter of exhibitionist; but NOT in her hometown where her family is considered royalty. That's illegal and disrespectful. If they were to have been caught-that would have tarnished her entire family's reputation. ➡️Four: When MMC was in the kitchen with the dead, he should have declared his heart and told her father what was going on with the coach injecting steroids on the other player. [he should have gone public with the steriods immediately. AND WHY WHY WHY are we still using pee tests?? Aren't hair samples better!? <<<<ugh>>>> I guess I'm glad he got his Happy For Now ending, but I really wanted the dad to have to apologize - groveling would have been better. 📌YES I would recommend 🌟 but I still don't think her or her father did enough🌟

A different kind of love story....

This was a great story. The characters are lovable and you pull for them right away. Wish there was more to the story....

Good till the last few chapters

Spoilers possibly ahead.

I don’t understand how she could completely flip and shut him out after he was so careful with her and constantly ensuring she was okay throughout their whole relationship especially sexually. It doesn’t make sense that she’d hear something from the media and act the way she did.

Good till the end

Like most comments I agree that the end was not only upsetting but also lackluster and felt rushed. It just seemed completely out of left field and not at all necessary to the story line and character development. It actually didn’t even fit the characters at all which is why it seemed so wrong. Over all it was good though and had me smiling several times! It was really just the last bit that didn’t do it for me. Some spoilers………………….

It was just odd how quickly she didn’t believe him and it did not fit how they were with each other especially since she knew the coach had already framed him and was trying to get him off of the team. It really bothered me to the point that I had to stop reading for a bit to compose myself enough to keep going! It just didn’t fit the characters especially her at all! And then for it to end with him not even being a bit upset at her was crazy! I was fuming! She didn’t even have to work hard to earn him back which’s again upset me a bit. Not mention how he blamed himself for her not believing him even though they where “in love” and “new each other” so well. Unfortunately that last little bit of the book turned me off of liking Grace. Again though I still thought it was good I just wish it had a different conflict and a better more satisfying ending that’s all.

Love

I would label this book a short. It could’ve had so much more story but overall I loved it.

Great story until the last 55 minutes!

No spoilers here!

The Good!

The main characters mix well together, even with Rocky starts. The relationship between the two main characters develops over time and mutual respect is earned by both. Bennett grows up as his relationship progresses with Grace and he treats her with reverence and respect. He confides in her and works hard to earn her family's respect.

The bad!

When a report hits the news about Bennett, Grace drops him like a hot potato and believes everything she hears without giving Bennett a chance to defend himself. She completely shuts him out and treats him like dirt. During this time, she has angsty moments about missing Bennett but still won't give him the time of day!

The horrible!!

The resolution of the story has the wrong person apologizing... and that person did nothing wrong! WHAT? If a man does something wrong, he needs to apologize and work to earn respect. It needs to work the same way for women. In this case, Grace throws away a relationship without giving 'her boyfriend' the opportunity to say a word!

A note to the author... You took a likeable main character and made me hate her in minutes. She went over a month without communication which makes her wrong for the main male character!! If it were me, she would no longer be a part of my life. If a character immediately loses all trust for her significant other without giving him the opportunity to talk, then she does not deserve that person! Part of a true relationship is faith and she had none.

If the first 85% wasn't so good, this would have been a one star book.
