Publisher's Summary

Heir to the most notorious clan in the Highlands, Hugh MacIain hides his identity while imprisoned in the bowels of Fort William's hell. Aye, this braw warrior has endured horrors that should have seen him dead, though now it appears it's the bloody flux that will send him to Satan's fire.

Optimistic, competent, and captivating, Charlotte Hill takes pity on the fevered prisoner sprawled atop a cot in the fort's surgery. When finally the Highlander opens his eyes, he seizes her heart with a pained stare. Truly, this is no commoner - but in 1692, a warrior loyal to the Jacobite cause and the daughter of a government colonel may as well be worlds apart.

After his escape, Hugh snatches his chance to woo the lass, until disaster strikes. While war and lust for vengeance force Charlotte further from Hugh's arms, the couple's romance seems aimlessly adrift on the open sea. Before they sail too far apart, can the tender love of an English lady coax a determined Highlander from his path of revenge?

My favorite books are 'Historical Romance'. A good book takes you away from your everyday life & puts you in the middle of an adventure.

Have you listened to any of Joel Froomkin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first performance I've listened to of Joel's. He has a very nice Scottish brogue.

    Any additional comments?

There are stories and then there are those rare few that touch your mind, heart and soul. This is such a story. This amazing book by Amy Jarecki left me in deep thought. It stirred me to the depths of my sole. I did not know the story of Glencoe, prior to listening to this book. This author weaves fact and fiction together beautifully. It is a history lesson come to life, with historical romance blended in for the avid romance reader. Do not pass this story by. The facts of Glencoe were well written and tugged on my heart. The fictional romance made me want jump back in time and find this man. It is that good. A must read.

    "Great Story"
What did you love best about The Fearless Highlander?

I loved Hugh's and Charlotte's story. I found myself talking to the narrator as I listened to the story especially when the awful injustice was done to Hugh's clan. This part was so heart wrenching. And Charlotte herding the sheep..hahaha...well you'll just have to listen.

    "Wow"

Wow! What a story! It was one of the best I've listened to so far. Ms. Jarecki writes her tales in a way that touch the soul while giving the reader a wee bit of a history lesson. I loved how it grabbed my attention and I couldn't wait to get back to it. The main characters, Hugh and Charlotte, are so well suited despite their many differences and they show that love is indeed a powerful force, compassion is never to be dismissed. Loved the HEA ending, as usual the author doesn't leave the reader with questions. Looking forward to the next one.

This is the first of Mr. Froomkin's narrations I listened to and it is exceptional.
His voices are many, I never had to wonder who was speaking and the most important thing for me is that I didn't just hear the words, I felt them, every emotion, sigh, cry, anger, joy, love. I got lost in the story. My fave was the voice he gave Hugh, also his Father's and Charlotte's come in close second. Thank you for a most pleasant experience. You've got a new fan! :D

    "Best narrator ever"

The story is worth the money. But the narrator UNBELIEVABlE. I could not believe this was one person. The only negative is the book cover. Is that Ben Stiller? I will be looking for books with this same narrator!!!!

    "A bit tedious"

Although the historic portion of this book was interesting, the romance portion was tedious. it started out good enough, but too many turn of events get tiring. I realize history has many horrid realities, I don't really like to read about it for entertainment. I read romance for entertainment. If you feel the same way, this book may not be for you.
I did not feel the narrator gave Hugh a strong voice which some times made him sound floundering and indecisive. And sometimes even like an elderly man.

Too many racy sex scenes which did not add to the story but rather detracted from its content. The language was also an issue

    "Missed the mark"

After reading the reviews I was expecting more and while the story had great possibilities it just didn't have the fire I was looking for. I did enjoy the narration of this book. In my opinion it was not worth the credit.

    "Don't even waste a free credit !!!!"
What would have made The Fearless Highlander better?

    The narrator perhaps.

What was most disappointing about Amy Jarecki’s story?

It was very slow moving even through 9 chapters.

Would you be willing to try another one of Joel Froomkin’s performances?

Joel Froomkin may be a good narrator with another performance but this WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. He sounded like an old man with a raspy voice the whole time.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Compared to other highland love stories this one needed to be totally re-written. It spent too much time going back and forth with Hugh and His father's dialog.

    Any additional comments?

This was just terrible. I tried to see if it would get better after the first 4 chapters but it still was extremely bad up until chapter 9 when I just couldn't stand it another minute. The story was all over the place and the narrator did it even more injustice with his struggling highland accent.
