Jaid Black's brazenly indulgent space sex romp delivers endless fun with dinosaurs, telekinesis, gassy little pugmuffs and all the impossibilities that inevitably follow an oafish, multi-dimensional king's abduction of a plain-Jane tax accountant with all the grace of a bull in a china shop. Performer Tillie Hooper possesses the punchy comic timing befitting the wry sense of humor that turns romance genre clichés on their heads in the vein of a campy Mel Brooks parody.
Packed to the gills with lively, endearing characters, interwoven side plots, wicked hilarity, and - of course - nonstop sex, this lighthearted, escapist fantasy is sure to become a favorite of listeners who appreciate erotica that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Modern-day Earth woman Kyra Summers is kidnapped and wed by a seven-foot tall, thickly muscled warrior claiming to be her Sacred Mate. Life on his home planet Tryston takes some getting used to, as the laws of the world cater to erotic hedonism and leave females at the sexual subjugation of the barbarians who claim them.
No one said love with an alien would come easily. Enjoy Kyra’s spicy escapades as she adjusts to life and love in another dimension.

This book is erotica on steroids, and it veers into erotic arenas that aren't really to my taste. It's not that I "disapprove", it's just that we all have a different concept of what is erotic, and for that matter, what is erotic romance, and I can only judge according to my own tastes. My concept of erotic romance is a man (or 3) who are solely dedicated to 1 woman. They are exclusive and possessive. This book featured the hero and heroine in orgies, a couple of f/f scenes, 2f/1m bedroom scenes (the "wedding night" no less), and it was sort of "anything goes" for both of them so long as there wasn't any actual intercourse other than with each other (after the consummation of their vows at any rate). The idea was "you're in another culture now and this is how it's done", but the blatant infidelity (as I saw it) bothered me more than anything else in this book. Maybe it was culture shock. Undoubtedly though, it's not what I like in my romances, erotic or otherwise.
The world building was pretty good, and the "culture building" was complex. Some of the expressions used were almost laughable, as another reviewer mentioned, but they didn't bother me too much. The secondary characters were fleshed out well, with the exception of the villain, who was your classic evil stereotype. Overall, the writing wasn't bad. It was just the premise that didn't sit well with me.
The narrator did a splendid job and I would happily listen to others books that she reads.
This book has lots of erotic sex scenes in it. There is still a plot and some twists and turns. I have read this book first and thought to get the audio since it was inexpensive and I had nothing else pressing to read. I enjoyed it just as much as reading it. You have to like sci-fi fantasy because there are weird names and language that you have to wrap your head around. It is a really crazy concept that aliens from another dimension can abduct you and basically turn you into a sex slave. Well not really as they Zor and Kyria are mated. There are some funny parts and I love the fact that Kyria is not meek and mild mannered. This makes for some really funny scenes. I also like the other characters that are all part of the story so even though there are a lot of sex scenes you still have sub plots. You have to be ok with explicit detail and a lot of talk about channels and domineering men. Overall I liked it. Not my usually listen but a will definitely make you hot.
I'm a grad student with very little time to edit reviews because I'm editing research papers. Forgive the typos. They're made with love.
I can't even.
Let's break this down. There's so much erotica that there's no pleasure - it's hardcore but it's also nonstop and you're drowning in sex scenes which makes for very little arousal for the reader.
There're ridiculous elements that originally made me think this was some sort of comedy. Like a dog with two butts - one is his face. And he farts everywhere. Also, these men apparently have a magic ability to ripe the clothing off a woman with a thought. The women (spoiler alert), being human, don't realize they're pregnant because their bodies don't change before they lay eggs... which in an hour become full-sized newborns/hatchlings. A little while after birth, the "bazooms" of the new mother grow to the size of watermelons with a glowing blue goo (the idea of milk disgusts the warriors) and it turns out to have other magical properties.
I have other issues with this story - mainly that all human biology is thrown out the window. The warriors don't educate their women at all, even after not knowing things causes problems, they still don't think to prepare their women for everything they will experience - like laying a friggin egg. Then look at them as if they are idiots when they don't know what's going on. Apparently just by having sex, a woman gains a lifespan of a warrior. I'm guessing their skin doesn't break apart or get stretch marks with the sudden gorging.
Personally I just found it weird that with all the possessiveness going on, a clueless new bride it okay with watching her new husband pound away at a gorgeous high priestess over and over before coming to her. It's given that it's because it's her first time and he'd injure her if he didn't release a few times before but the leading lady took this all way too well.
Perhaps I'm taking this too seriously as a book but I can't take this writer seriously. It's not sexy, it's not funny, it doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. All I know is I will not be continuing this.
I started this book 5 different times. I think the farthest I got was 45 minutes into the book. What a disappointment! I wanted to like it, but my mind would not engage. This is a big "Don't waste your money or credits." I did like the narrator. I won't return the book and I might listen to more some time when I am REALLY bored.
I own all of the Trek Mi Q'an books in e-format and have been enjoying them for years.
I'm very please to see them here and I hope Audible will get the rest of them.
The narrator is sensational!
If we had such mind blowing sex everyday of our lives nothing much would get accomplished, probably we'd become sex addicts. Hum...
The stories are highly imaginative and amusing the perfect cure for winter blues.
This turned out to be silly to me.I don't believe I have ever found a "racey" story to be so silly. That is what happened for me 1/4 of the way in. Geeesh how awfull.
The vocabulary, setting, story line.("comely onyx wench")or how about ("is for a certainty"). I could go on for a day I am sorry to say.
The performance reading was actually good. The only good part"for a certainty."
Uuugh.Too loaded of a question.
I hate finding a story presents itself as Romantica that seems so very silly.
it had some great high points. I'm not particularly a big fan of total male dominance. but if our males seeked to be pleased as well as to please, i may change my mind.
Maybe. This book reads like a first book. It took a while to find it's footing. I might see how the next one goes.
This book is good I suppose for what it is. If your into LOTS of sex, but minimal story, this is the book for you. It's sort of like reading what thirteen year old boy would write, if he were trying to channel his 13 year old sister. These people have so much sex, I'm honestly not sure when they have time to do anything else. I love steamy smutty sex scenes, but I was literally getting sore just thinking about having as much sex as they do in this book. There is only so much a person can suspend their disbelief. I would have counted the number of times they said the word "nipple", but I can't count that high.
She was okay. I really didn't care for her "Male" voice. but I got used to it.
No. I prefer book porn to real porn.
I love books. but i am kind of a fiction junkie.
if you have relay good suspension of disbelief you might like it .... and no understanding of human anatomy.
nop i still love hot erotica i. i just like it a lot more if i fan learn something from it ( about how i look at life relationship people sex or ...)
she red it well with good time and expression
I guess I need a more depth in my books. some of the sex scenes were great. perhaps having more well-rounded characters would have helped. overall though it wasn't a waste of time.
I had to revisit this book on audio, I loved it when first I downloaded it on my kindle. why? well there is not many PNR erotic romance novels that actually incorporate lots of characters with mini plots building and developing on around as you read the the book, it usually just covers the two main characters and problems encountered then them overcoming said encounters, the end.
Here there's lots going on and developing and even more precious it entertained, I laughed and chuckled throughout, written with humor this is one of my favorites in my sci/fi erotic library collection.
Okay you've guessed I am a fan of this series.
The Trek Mi Q'an BK 1 does not take itself too seriously and just is, if you have any sensibilities about overbearing males abducting their mate, with some 'playing' with others this won't be for you, written with fun and flair a pure escapist read.
The world, characters and story line are full lush and unapologetic, Zor is very selfish and at times for my taste a bit dim, but you can't help but endear yourself to him, Kyra is literally bowled over and eventually comes to terms with her predicament, donning a quiet grace who we hope will eventually compliment Zors.
There's lots going on and I was entertained, wonderful wry narration by Tillie Hooper.
If you like erotic sc/fi romances with wicked humor recommended.
"The Empress' New Clothes"
Tillie Hooper - her voice is musical and enticing and she reads Jaid Black's The Empress' New Clothes with clarity, sensuality and great humour.
I found myself addicted to this audiobook.
I often caught myself laughing out loud - I will never forget reaching over into the freezers while doing my weekly shop, I listening intently, when I heard Tillie read the line -
"she was suckling his man-sacks" !
I laughed so very hard, I nearly fell in
I have to also admit from that day on my husband often gets told he is a man-sack in return I am a hicca beast lol.
The part where she gets her sweet juice - OMG !
I can honestly say that having breast fed 7 kids I totally relate to this part - made me giggle and giggle.
I have the first four of Jaid's Trek Mi Q'an series as ebooks on my kindle Fire HD too. I have also bought the next 2 audio books from audible.co.uk and look forward to listening to them too.
Unlike many audiobooks the quality of this reading is a real pleasure to listen to.
(no hissing etc)
Beyond compare so far - If you like it raunchy, humourous, as well as nice little love stories interweaving through each other then the Trek Mi Q'an series is totally worth taking the the time to listen. Just avoid shopping in the freezer aisles lol x
Although Tillie has a really feminine voice she carried off the male counterparts just lovely - I think the sing song voice of ori the high priestess was great and when reading out the King's dumbfounded observations of his mate - utterly hilarious
I have no idea lol
Could listen to this again and again - well done Jaid Black and Tillie Hooper
