Publisher's summary

Baffled by a seemingly supernatural connection to his critically injured sister, an FBI special agent heads to the Oregon coast in search of a more plausible explanation for his sudden ESP, only to discover more puzzling mysteries.

FBI agent Ford MacDougal - "Mac" - is recovering from a terrorist car bombing when his sister appears to purposely drive her Porsche off an Oregon cliff. Curiously, Mac felt as if he were in the car with her as she sailed toward the sea, even though he was really in a hospital bed on the other side of the country.

By the time Mac arrives in Portland, his sister - Dr. Jilly Bartlett, a medical researcher - has come out of the coma she's been in for four days. But after a few scant hours with her brother, Jilly vanishes without a trace. In searching for her, Mac gets a different story from everyone he encounters. When the local sheriff enlists Mac's aid in a puzzling murder of an elderly resident, Mac little suspects that the case connects to his sister's disappearance. FBI agents Lacey Sherlock and Dillon Savich (last seen in The Target) join Mac to ride shotgun, only to find their search leading from a small town on the Oregon coast to the rain forests of Costa Rica. Together, they must escape relentless pursuers as well as the hostile jungle itself before discovering the true nature of the evil at The Edge.

enjoyed the story just not the performance

due to the narrator's unfortunate habit of attempting women's voices the book came across as a slapstick comedy. his women's voices came across as sounding like a cartoon.

Love this one

Love Dillion and Sherlock. They make you feel as if you are in the book with them. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Sherlock and Salvage are in it.

Not my favorite of the series. Had trouble liking the main characters. I'm starting to like the dual narrarators.

Good

Story line was good. Some of the narration sounded like Detective Joe Friday from Dragnet though.

Couldn't get onto it

I couldn't get into the book because of the narrator. The story wasn't bad, although it was hard for me to stay focused because of the narrator.

Hate changing narrators

I hate it when they changed the narrator's in the story. It makes it hard to follow at least for me It's hard for me to get back into the story once my concentration is broken. I have listen to 4 of her other books and a love them. I just can't get into this one because the narrator's keep switching.

Irene

I love Catherine Coulter FBI Series with Savage and Sherlock. I can’t believe she released this series this is the first book I listened too. Robert Lawrence can read but the voices were terrible.

Could Be Better

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not an easy listen. I like to listen to book series so basically made myself finish. I like get to know the characters and follow their actions in sequential books. This book had trouble with the fluidity of the characters and what went on in their lives (i.e. marriage, children, etc.)

Would you recommend The Edge to your friends? Why or why not?

Probably not.

Did Robert Lawrence do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Did not enjoy the narrator at all. Sounded like someone was reading a play script. Voices used for characters didn't match visuals created from narrators in first books.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

An author should stick with one narrator throughout their series so the persona of the characters is consistent - provided they are a talented narrator.
