Publisher's summary

Destiny will be decided betweenthe sheets in this all-new tale of “The Princess and the Pea.”

For Olivia Lytton, betrothal to the Duke of Canterwick - hardly a Prince Charming - feels more like a curse than a happily-ever-after. At least his noble status will help her sister, Georgiana, secure an engagement with the brooding, handsome Tarquin, Duke of Sconce,a perfect match for her in every way... every way but one. Tarquin has fallen in love with Olivia.

Quin never puts passion before reason. And reason says that Georgiana is his ideal bride. But the sensual, fiery, strong-willed Olivia ignites an unknown longing in him - a desire they are both powerless to resist.

When a scandalous affair begins, they risk losing everything - Olivia’s engagement, her sister’s friendship, and their own fragile love. Only one thing can save them - and it awaits in the bedroom, where a magnificent mattress holds life-changing answers to the greatest romantic riddle of all.

First half is really Good; Second half is BORING!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. It started off interesting but by the 2nd half of the audio, it just fizzled. I definitely lost interest and was waiting for it to end.

Would you ever listen to anything by Eloisa James again?

Yes. I loved the first half. It was interesting and well developed. The 2nd half of the audio felt disjointed and super super sappy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the "romantic" build it. I always do. This book did a great job at that throughout the 1st section of the book.

Was The Duke Is Mine worth the listening time?

Not really.

Olivia & Quinn were humorous

I loved this audiobook. The narrator Susan Duerden was entertaining, light, flirtatious and just fun. She brought the authenticity to the English accents and really transported me to the Regency era. She increased my enjoyment of this book.

Olivia and Tarquin felt seamless as couple. They fit, they were fun and they had witty banter. I enjoyed the way the author worked them towards each other considering Olivia's engagement, the mother etc. It made the book a tad angsty which added to the suspense.

I love historical romances because they are romantic but Eloisa James has a way of interjecting humor, a little history, and great interpersonal relationships. The only reason I am not giving this story a full 5-star is the last few chapters with Olivia's fiance were superfluous. There could have been less dramatic ways of ending the engagement and Quinn not feeling like stole someone's woman.

Still their love story made this book an awesome audiobook experience that I will be finishing the series soon.

Wonderful!

What do you get when you blend the writing talent of Eloisa James and the brilliant narration of Susan Duerden? A decadent, romantic, sexy retelling of The Princess and the Pea, one that's deliciously fun, start to finish!

Exhausting

I love EJ but this story was hard to finish. The reader made it bearable.

She's a funny heroin

Where does The Duke Is Mine rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

She has so many "foot in mouth" moments that brings a chuckle to your lips. There is also a fair share of tearful moments as well. very good story.

ENJOYABLE & ENTERTAINING BUT A MIXED REVIEW

I love EJ's historical romances and this one was gearing up to be one of her best - I even thought about doing a cardinal sin and listening to the end chapter at one point even tho I knew it had to be a happily ever after romance.

What I just couldn't get my head around was the farcical trip to France during wartime and how she spoke to everyone there and what happened - absolutely ridiculous. There was romance, passion, thrills, a bit of humour, sad times and some sex too.

Worth a credit? Ohhhh it's one of those YES and No's - and I'm going with YES despite the chapters when their in France because I did enjoy all the rest of it and I love the series.... so I forgive you EJ for the crazy France trip.

Beautiful story

I love this book. The story line prove that two people with different ideas, hobbies and personalities, can and will fall in love. So far, out of all hers books I had read (listening is a better description), this is my favorite with a "Kiss at Midnight" comes a close second. Please keep giving us such wonderful stories.

Very cute story

Have you listened to any of Susan Duerden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think so. I have only bought Eloisa James paperback books and still have them.

Any additional comments?

Love Elosia James books. Her fairy tale romances are not as gripping as her previous novels, but are a nice change. Sometimes you enjoy a bit of fluff to read. Very intertaining. I think it is worth a try.
