Futuristic Dragonshifting Romance
Mede of the Draig knows three things for a fact: As the only female dragonshifter of her people, she is special. She can kick the backside of any man. And she absolutely doesn't want to marry.
Mede has spent a lifetime trying to prove she's as strong as any male warrior. Unfortunately, being the special, rare creature she is, she's been claimed as the future bride to nearly three dozen Draig - each one confident that when they come for her hand in marriage, fate will choose them. When the men aren't bragging about how they're going to marry her, they're acting like she's a delicate rare flower in need of their protection.
But Mede is far from a shrinking solarflower.
Prince Llyr of the Draig knows four things for a fact: He is the future king of the dragonshifters. He must act honorably in all ways. He absolutely, positively is meant to marry Lady Mede. And she is dead set against marriage.
Llyr's fate rests in the hands of a woman determined not to have any man. With a new threat emerging amongst their catshifting neighbors, a threat whose eyes are focused firmly on Mede, time may be running out. It is up to him to convince her to be his dragon queen.
A Prequel Story
About Book 9:
Before four princes and four noblemen found their brides, before the death of the Var King Attor and the threat of the Tyoe miners, there was a time of peace on the planet of Quirlixen. It was not a strong peace, but it had lasted for quite some time between the catshifting Var kingdom and their northern neighbors the dragonshifting Draig. It lasted because both sides had very little to do with each other. It is here the dragons found their queen.

In this prequel we get to find out how king Llyr and queen Mede met and fell in love. As well as the reason behind the war between the Draig and the Var. Mede is feisty, brave, strong, stubborn and the only living female dragon. I think she might be my favorite female so far. I really liked Mede and Llyr together. I enjoyed this book. I loved the humor and the romance. The book is very well written and a must read for all paranormal readers.
I highly recommend this series. It's a really good read.

fierce, funny, fantastic
Yes it's such a fun listen and great read
I love this series and Michelle Pillow's books. This audible was funny and I enjoyed it.
If you've read or listened to any of the other books, this puts a few things in perspective ;)
I really liked Mede and Llyr together. I felt that their romance wasn't rushed and that love happened not because of sex, but because they got to know one another. It was interesting to learn a bit about Attor and how this book was influencing to the others. I enjoyed the other characters, and the roles they played.
I enjoyed listening to Mason Lloyd. I always enjoy listening to him and his lulling voice. I find his voice choices for each character entertaining, although different than what I hear, I think he does a great job
Absolutely recommend this audiobook. I have loved this series since I started reading it. This one is a "prequel" to the first book in the Dragon Lord's series. I was impressed the first time I met Queen Mede and this story gave me a new appreciation for her as a queen and mother.
I am not sure what books I could compare The Dragon's Queen to except the other books in the series. Mede doesn't want to be a wife and especially not a mother. She wants to be a member of the Order of the Dead Dragons.
I loved when Lyr comes to save Mede from Prince Attor and she ends up turning into the dragon from their legends...a dragon with wings that allows them to fly and can breathe fire. Lyr finally admits that Mede makes his crystal glow and she admits that she wants him as her husband.
Yes, it is a great story and is very well narrated. Mason Lloyd does a wonderful narration that sucks you into the story.
The first time I met Queen Mede in the Barbarian Prince I was amazed at how poised and understanding she was with the all the brides. This book gave me a whole new view of Mede. She was a rebel in her youth and felt she had to prove to everyone that she was just as good, if not better, than the guys. Prince Llyr is so patient with her once he finally gets to meet her. Even though he lies to her about his crystal, you still can't help but love him because he will do anything for Mede.
This book really sets up the relationship between the Draig and Var for the other books. Attor didn't seem to care about what the Draig were doing since he had his own issues with his father, the Var King. Attor never notices how he is manipulated by Myrddin since Myrddin makes it appear as if it's Attor's ideas.
Likable caractors and a good solid story line. the same humor and well developed world we have come to expect. .
Finally King Llyr and Queen Mede's story. This is the story that begins it all before the four Draig princes found their soulmates. It is the beginning of why King Attor wanted to end King Llyr and Queen Mede's line.
Add a fire breathing dragon and regicide and a female shifter who is so set against marriage, this is a story that gives all the background to the House of Draig.
I was given this audiobook by the author for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in anyway for writing this review.
Tell us about yourself!
It showed how much the queen kicked butt lol
The dead dragon brother hood
Yes he does a great job
Oh wow. Well written and fun. I read this book a long time ago first before any other of the Dragon lords story and had no trouble following it. you don't have to read the other 9 first. I love the inaction of the characters, the build in story and the plot twists. Funny and romantic I couldn't ask for more. Now that I have them all in audio well there even better.
I love this author! She never disappoints! Once I started listening I couldn't put it down. I finished this audio in one day. It held my interest from start to finish. I can't wait to listen to more from Michelle Pillow.
I am Tammy Payne. I am an avid book reader and I also have a book blog :)
I have not read the print version but if it's anything like the audible version then it's fantastic
I enjoyed finding out how Queen Mede met her King. She is one strong female.
He brought each character to life. He did a very good job with this audible.
I found myself laughing a lot. Mede is a strong willed and quite stubborn female.
I was gifted this audible for my honest review.
I love the narrator's work and this is no exception. I consider audio's my bed time stories and this is one of the great ones. I own a lot of Michelle Pillow's books and it was my pleasure for my re-read to be in audio form.
There is an entire series of Dragon and Cat shifter books by Ms. Pillow. Each one relates however stand alone. The entire series is great.
Mr Lloyd is one of my favorite narrators. If he is the narrator I never have to listen to the preview because I know it will be a winner. He makes each character distinguishable and shows appropriate drama but never over dramatizes.
Yes, if only I could have.
I loved it and listening gives a whole new reveal of the story.Be prepared to want to go back and read them all.Mede is one is a thousand--literally. She is a female dragon shifter on a planet where only males are born. They import "Space Brides" from earth to populate and mate with the male shifters. All her life she has fought the males determined to mate with her. She only wants to be one of the guys. She fights harder, better and is more determined than any of the men. She proves her fierceness by earning a place in the elite guard of their people.Prince Llyr has loved her from afar for years, waiting until now to press his claim. She resists as much as she can but he draws her in a way no other has. There is another shifter race on this planet and they are in a reluctant truce period. Cats. The future Cat king decides by marrying Mede he will rule the entire planet. The characters are loveable, or ones you love to hate, Mede's mother will make you laugh unlike the usual matchmaking mom--she's a kick.Sit back, curl up and take a fun ride with Michelle Pillow's Dragon Lords The Dragon's Queen.
I would class this as a beach listen or something to listen to on your way home from work. I thought the couple was a little too wide apart to work realistically, but it was still fun. Having read most of the books in this series, I was a little disconcerted by continuity issues that could have been avoided. Maybe the author thought she was addressing them, but kindof missed the mark a bit.
I'm resistant to this author. Her series' begin with a bang and new concept, but the later books often have little original material, mostly rehash. This one was a prequel to Dragon Lords and was actually better than her later books in this series.
The narrator was EXCELLENT! He was a pleasure to listen to and his accents gave a mystery to this book that would not have existed on the written page.
This book is standalone. You don't really need to read any of the others to 'get' this one.
