For love of a Dark Highlander ...

This is the 5th book in Karen Marie Monings incredible 'The Highlander' series. I love and recommend them all but HIGHLY recommend you read them in order! They each do stand alone however this one is definitely a Continuation of #4 'kiss of the Highlander' and knowing THAT story truly makes THIS story what it is -Wonderful! These are the only two books of this series that are directly related as they are the stories of a pair of twins. This book is wound into the results of 'Kiss of the Highlander' so well that one needs the other if you want to truly understand all that there is beneath the surface.

This series was my introduction to Scottish Historical Romance books and is to blame for my obsession and addiction to the genre'. It is almost impossible to find others that compare as this series is by far my all time favorite. That may be why this was my fourth time listening to it and it is as good now as it was the 1st time!

Karen Marie Moning writes a tale with so much talent that you can never, not ever, be bored. In this one the Druid magic is all consuming woven together with legend, mystery, romance, a little time travel and a whole lot wonderful.

NARRATOR: I adore the warm sexy tone and yummy Scots brogue of Phil Gigante. I do find it distracting when, on occasion, his female voices might lose their femininity momentarily. Otherwise he is masterful.

CREDITWORTHY? YES!

HEAT FACTOR: Hot! Sex is a underlying component, not crude and not erotica, but it is there steaming and sizzling throughout the book.

Easy book and enjoyable

Have read this book while ago but l still enjoyed listening to it , Phil Gigante brought the book to life . He does a great job narrating it . I love the highland stories and Karen Moning makes it very enjoyable every time .

This book ranks in the top 3 of the series for me.

What did you like best about this story?

The slow evolving love story...trust, friendship, and attraction....the way that works best!

Which scene was your favorite?

The first breakfast scene after Chloe & Dragus traveled back to the 16th century....specifically the words Chloe spoke out loud by accident.

A great series

The writing was very well done. Characters were completely developed and the setting rich with details that captured the senses. While each book stands alone, reading the whole series gave each book greater depth. Truly an excellent series.

One of my faves! I love Kiss of the Highlander and of course this was equally as good!

What other book might you compare The Dark Highlander to and why?

I would compare Kiss of the Highlander to it, they have overlapping story lines, so excellent!

I didn't like when he tried to do her voice! Once you get past that the story was okay! I finished because I wanted to know what happened!

I'm certain I've read this book a half dozen times. love it. I'm not so much a fan of the narrator's female voice. his male voice is great though

Hot!

Phil Gigante does the most amazing job reading this series! His voice just makes you melt, especially when he is doing one of the Scottish Brogues!

WARNING though! Even though it's not marked as such, this book is in the middle of a series. Most of the books can be just read as stand alone, but for this one, you really do need to listen to "Kiss of the Highlander" first. But trust me, they are worth the credits!

What made the experience of listening to The Dark Highlander the most enjoyable?

Phil Gigante's voice is sooooo smooth and awesome! I loved his reading of my favorite highlander series. He brings ALL the characters to life.

What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice really brings the characters to life. I can see the facial expressions of the characters as he describes them. His ability to do the baritone voices reverberates through me while I'm listening the book. He snares me so well that I sometimes continue to sit in my car because I just can't "put down" the book!
