Publisher's summary

Devil-may-care rogue Lord Darius Alexander can't resist a wager. When a game of cards is suggested at the remote inn where he's stopped for the night, he antes up his family's savings. He never expects to lose his fortune to the irritatingly confident, uncommonly beautiful hoyden daring to play with the men. Nor does he expect to lose his heart.

Caitlin Hart is known for her good sense. When a ridiculous reprobate tosses his savings onto the gaming table, she doesn't hesitate to divest him of it. But Lord Dare won't accept defeat like a gentleman. He suggests a compromise, and before long the handsome scoundrel is working back his losses on her small farm. But her neatly plowed fields might be too close for her heart's content, for soon she finds herself wondering if she can dare him to stay forever when the last of his coin is tucked safely into his pocket.

Great story

I received a copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Lord Darius Alexander has never been able to resist a wager. This leads him into lots of trouble. His family has lost complete faith in him but he doesn't really care.

Caitlin Hart has been on her own since the deaths of her sister, brother-in-law and niece three years ago. She has tried to make the most of her farm and her solitary life.

A wager brought these two into each other's lives. He is willing to work on her farm in order to earn the value of the voucher that he lost to her. What starts off as a working relationship leads to so much more.

This is a story that will make you feel all kinds of feelings.

A story with many twists and turns

Where does The Danger in Daring a Lady rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This story ranks as one of the best I've listened to. The story had two very complex characters and I wasn't sure of the outcome. I liked the fact that Dare had a large family and it was good to get to know their differing characters as well.

What other book might you compare The Danger in Daring a Lady to and why?

Lord of Change, they both involve a gambler with insurmountable debts and a strong woman.

What does Marian Hussey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Marian Hussey is an excellent storyteller. The different voices she used were very apt, including a variety of accents. Marian put the emphasis in just the right places to give a deeper meaning to the dialogue.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Unfortunately, it wasn't possible for me to listen to it in one sitting as it was approximately 11 and a half hours long. However, I listened to it every day for between 1-2 hrs and had no trouble in picking up the storyline from where I left it.

Any additional comments?

This was an enthralling story, full of interesting characters, including all of Dare's family. The two main characters were both complex, which made the story all the more interesting. It also had an epilogue, which rounds off the story quite succinctly.I received a free copy for an honest review.
