They say the course of true love never runs smooth.
That's nothing a magical cupcake can't solve.
Buttercream. Vanilla. Fondant. Dark chocolate. Brown sugar. Molasses. Baking has always been my true love, but it wasn't until my mother's death, and the unexpected inheritance of Serendipity Gardens, that my bliss called me. Bittersweet. But Serendipity Gardens has more to offer than just a potential shopfront. An unusual recipe box left to me by a distant relative might be the key to unlocking my dreams.
Too bad the most powerful family in Chancellor has plans that could turn those dreams to ruins - literally.
Too bad the son of that powerful family is just the kind of guy I've been looking for.
I suppose being heir to the Hunter family's Blushing Grape Winery should make me happy, but nothing could be further from the truth. With my mother gone, my father has taken me under his wing, and I despise everything about the way he does business. Sour grapes indeed. Instead of raising money for charitable causes, my true passion, I'm chasing my father's manifest destiny.
Too bad his dream includes paving paradise.
Too bad the property owner is the sweetest woman I've ever met.

Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything. - Plato
I really enjoyed this audiobook. I just wish it was a bit longer. The characters are great and it is a clean story, I would not mind my daughter listening to.
The narrator also does a good job bringing the story to life. I'll be listening to some more from this author. I always enjoy a Dual POV & a HEA ending.
Julia is a strong young lady that has lost her mom recently and decided to pursue her own dreams. Horatio is a young wealthy man that is looking to pursue his own dreams as well instead of following on his father's footsteps.
The author does a great job describing the characters and places. It was a great story overall.
I have received this audiobook in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.
I'm not sure about books, but a few movies came to mind. I adored the movie Simply Irresistible with the delicious food and spark of love with the magic in the food. This book fills that same spot in my heart, not for the stories being similar but for the magic in the food and love. Blended with the Good Witch who finds a new home that accepts her and her apothecary ways.
This is the first time I've listened to Hollie. She does well of voicing Julie and her pain, and a different tone for her father. Hollie makes all her characters individual. Horatio sounds like a man with a shorter feel to his words and his sister, Viola, has a softer sound. Something I noticed as well, I like that I can't hear her breathing between words. The story is told with a seamless flow and easy to listen to.
I had to smile at how Julie and Horatio meet. Innocent yet clumsy. Julie doesn't know it, but her boldness to live life as she wants inspires Horatio do the same. They are both not the person that one of their parents is making them be. They both share in this struggle in their lives. They also share that each have lost a parent to cancer. Though they are still hurting from the lose it's not the complete focus of the story, and I love that. They are working to keep going forward as they remember.

We have a few characters that join us in helping them find their selves and connecting Horatio and Julie. Viola, Horatio's sister, is a lovely person. She sees what Horatio is wonderful at, organizing events, and she has great advice for her brother. Viola is so right! But they are suppose to follow the family business. And Horatio realizes it's not what he wants to do. Horatio's dad, Aaron Hunter, is a business jerk. It's all about what he wants and now.
The three ladies that were dear friends with Mrs. Aster are a delight! They have the knowing way about them. Reminds me of the good witches. lol. They adopt Julie when they meet and learn who she is. Then, Julie learns who they are. Oh this is so sweet!
Such a sweet story that I enjoyed. I enjoyed how the writing flowed with the characters. This feels like a lovely series to enjoy as people find themselves and each other, friends or more.
I like big books and I cannot lie.
This book made me smile. It was fun with likable characters and really good narration. I only wish it was about eight hours longer! I'm going to listen to book one in this series next. The Chancellor Fairy Tales seems to be a series of books that are stand alone stories written in the same community. That is a fun concept too.

the cupcake witch is no exception. another wonderful book by this author!
I will be sharing with my audiobook group!
starting book 3 now!
I am addicted to audiobooks. It makes my 1 hour (each way) commute go by without me becoming an agressive driver. lol
Poppy did it again. She caught me in the first sentence and didn't let go until the end. I really enjoyed this short story. It was short and sweet. Just like the baking that Julie does for the town. Except Julie's cooking has something in it that most bakers do not have. Poppy gives us great characters to read about and Hollie gives us great characters as she narrates. This book is worth reading/listening. There is more than one story here and they are all very exciting. Looking for the next book to fill my time between big books and to get my sweet romance fix.
Say something about yourself!
Absolutely! The Cupcake Witch is such a quaint loving story! It reminded me of a Hallmark movie that I didn't want to end!
The fairy tale of it all! The Cupcake Witch takes you to a place that you truly want to live in, the characters are so genuine and sincere I wanted to be friends with them!
The Cupcake Witch is a delightful, fairy tale, romance! It whisks you away to a town and has you wishing you were walking the streets with them! My wish...that is was longer! The fairy tale of it all! The characters are so genuine and sincere I wanted to be friends with them all! Hollie Jackson does a great job bringing the emotion of the spells being cast and brewed and the spirit of her relative around the house. You could feel it in Hollie's voice.

I would. This is a cute short story ... light and heartwarming. I would love to get my hands on some of the recipes!
Viola ... I love the way she handles her dad.
All of it, she did an awesome job

What a sweet little story! Our heroine is Julie, a college student who has recently lost her mother and is having to make a choice...go back to school like her mother wanted, or follow her dream and become a baker? Through a series of serendipitous events, Julie comes into ownership of a quaint shop in Chancellor and her decision is practically made for her. She meets a handsome love interest in Horatio, makes friends with a delightful cast of characters, and discovers things about herself that she never thought possible. I enjoyed the narrators voice very much. She made it easy to listen to and the switch between characters was seamless. I do wish there had been more of a climax...something to change the pace a bit. The whole story was smooth and sweet, like cupcake frosting. A little angst or adventure would have added a more interesting bite.

The story starts off with the main character, Julie, and whether or not she should be going to college because her passion is baking.
Now enters, Horatio and he finds more than what he was expecting.
I liked how Julie and Horatio met.
Thay have a lot in common, especially, losing a parent to cancer.
With the help of Viola, Horatio's sister, and a few other characters, Julie and Horation find each other and themselves along the way.
This was a sweet story and it reminded me of the Good Witch series and movies.
The narrator, Hollie Jackson, did fine.
