Publisher's summary

A picturesque town. A woman on the run. An undercover agent. The first riveting novel in Catherine Coulter’s #1 New York Times bestselling FBI Thriller series.

Sally Brainerd can’t remember what happened the night her father was murdered. Maybe she did it. Or maybe it was her poor, traumatized mother. Either way, the safest place for her is far away from Washington, D.C. But while her aunt’s home in The Cove should be a quiet refuge, Sally can’t shake the feeling that there’s something not quite right about the postcard perfect little town.

Despite his target’s checkered past and convenient memory loss, FBI Special Agent James Quinlan isn’t convinced she’s the killer—but maybe she knows who is. As he uses his cover to get close to Sally and unearth the memories her mind has hidden away, James can’t deny his connection to the troubled woman. But as their lies and passions intertwine, Sally and James soon learn they aren’t the only ones keeping deadly secrets in The Cove….

Listen to another FBI Thriller.

A good start.

I've read quite a few Caterine Coulter books over the years. When I was looking for a new listen, I was thrilled to find her books on Audible Escape! Now I can start at the beginning of her FBI series and go. This one caught me by surprise a few times! Sandra Burr did a good job with narration. A couple of her men's voices were pretty similar, but she's still worth the listen. On to the next book!

Interesting but jump around to different locations with no notice

The story was interesting with a lot of twist with humor injected.
The male performers took away from the story because I couldn’t take them serious since they sounded like a nasal Donald Duck. The female voice was whiny so couldn’t get into their performance either.

Good story.

I liked it. Sure , it was a bit melodramatic mainly because of the narrator’s performance, but it was a good story and I liked it.

Entertaining

There were some twist and turns. I was entertained through out the book. Wish there was a man reading the male parts which might have given a different flare to listening.

MORE TWISTS THAN A SNAKE WITH A BELLY ACHE!

ANother fine example of how CAtherine Coulter can grab you on page one and not let you up for air till the last chapter. Suspence., humor, disgust, anger and. thrilling are just a few words to describe this storey. Its a fun ride from start to finish and the narration was an excellent asset.

Narration?

Actually a good story but the narration for the male.voice was a cross between Sponge Bob Square Pants and a synthesizer. Most distracting .

Forgettable

Would you try another book from Catherine Coulter and/or Sandra Burr?

I probably would try another book by Catherine Coulter just because she has written so many and they have been best sellers. Maybe I'll like the next one better.

What was most disappointing about Catherine Coulter???s story?

I figured out what was happening early in the story line. I like to be in suspense longer. Also, the bit about taking Sally back to the sanitarium I thought was stupid.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

No
