Publisher's summary

Daisy Flattery is a free spirit with a soft spot for strays and a weakness for a good story. Why else would she agree to the outrageous charade offered by her buttoned-down workaholic neighbor, Linc Blaise? The history professor needs to have a fiancée in order to capture his dream job, and Daisy is game to play the role. But something funny happens on their way to the altar that changes everything. Now, with the midnight hour approaching, will Daisy lose her prince, or will opposites not only attract but live happily ever after?

A True Cinderella Tale

Daisy Flattery is a free as it can be character. Makes you want to be her. I love the way she is so giving, free-spirited and willing to take on a challenge. Even if the challenge to save her apartment is to pretend to be engaged to her obnoxious neighbor Linc Blaise.

Linc on the their first meeting thought what a space cadet. She dresses like a flower child of the 60's. She is not the type of girl he would ever consider dating let alone be engaged to. However, he needs someone of her caliber to pretend to be engaged to him to land a huge job offer at an university.

Upon receiving his dream job he realizes that he has to keep up the charade until they can play up a breakup. What Linc was not counting on is the infectious personality of Daisy. Will faith take over his heart or will he keep to a deal and that is the end of it?

All I can say is that Jennifer Cruise has such a cute way of writing these fairy tales of love. This was one of those stories that you just want to see as a Hallmark or Lifetime movie. Susan Boyce was a delight as she performed the characters throughout the book making them all come to life and add to the personalities of each of them. Draws you into each scene as it takes place.

From Daisy being her flaky, giving self to Linc's somber this is the way is should be demeanor. To the town's folk that she brings into their lives. I like this story so much this is one that I actually did listen to 2 times.

I guarantee that this will be on your fav list of romance comedies.

Easy fun listen.

I like Jennifers books. This one is fun and fast. Some of it is very easy to figure out where it's going. Still, It was worth it.

Such a cute story!

First off I want to say that I stumbled upon this story by chance. I subscribe to Audible and there was a deal and this was one of the stories to choose from, I like cute, love stories so I went for it. I am incredibly glad that I did because not only did I enjoy this book, I have gone on to other Jennifer Crusie books and have enjoyed them just as much.

I really liked Daisy as a character. I found her to be a quite refreshing character with all her quirks. I actually found myself wishing I could be a little more free-spirited like her. I enjoyed Linc's character as well and thought that they were made for each other whether they wanted to admit at first or not. I found Linc to be a little irritating at times only when he was talking to that blonde at the school. He ever knew that he kind of liked Daisy but because she wasn't his "type" he disregarded her for the time being for the blonde because she was his "type". I'm glad he got over that because honestly Daisy was way better.

I liked the how the relationship eventually developed not only among Daisy and Linc but among Linc and Daisy and their mothers. I thought that was some nice character relationship development.

Overall, I highly enjoyed listening to this book and and am so glad that I stumbled upon it. It was a well written cute read.

Crusie always a good listening choice

great narrator - wonderful voicing. Predictable storyline but that doesn't detract from the entertainment value at all.

Good Fluff

Who was your favorite character and why?

Daisy. At first, I thought she was a little silly, and I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy the book. However, she grows throughout the book, and I felt like I really got to know the character. She was fun and interesting.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book is a fun, quick listen that made me laugh and cry.

Any additional comments?

The characters are not one-dimensional. I was really cheering for them. Narration was not bad or distracting. Not a waste of time.
