Her dream came true and ruined everything. Emily Benoit left her small ranching community in Idaho to become the art director for a large New York City department store. In the process she broke her heart, as well as Devlin Camp's, the love of her life. Emily's back for Christmas and there are no tidings of comfort and joy from Devlin because he can't begin to forgive her. Besides, he's gotten married. Emily knows too well what she gave up but getting it back is impossible.

I must say, I really enjoyed this story. It was a novella, which usually feel rushed to me. But, this one so wasn't. I loved the character and story development throughout. It had a sensual quality throughout, and left you wanting to find out more about what was going on between Emily and Devlin. This was the first book I read by this author, but will not be the last. She grabbed me from the beginning, and I was completely pulled into the story.
The narrator, Kristyl, was a pleasure to listen to. Her voice is rich and her flow is on point, as was the different character voices. Very talented. You don't feel like you are listening to someone read, but rather are able to visualize the story in your mind. She has a nice, rich tone. Just a pleasure all the way around.
Put me in Idaho to be able to picture the scenery and all that was going on in the story.
Emily for wanting to see what was outside of the life she knew
The narrator keeps you in the story.
Wonderfully written story by Barbara Morgenroth.
**I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
What more can you ask for than Christmas in August? This was a short, sweet romance, including Emily and Devlin. Emily, a girl who was looking to get away from the small town and make something of herself comes to realize that her cowboy is all she needs. Devlin is the perfect cowboy Christmas present! You get caught up in their banter, trying to figure out where they still stand and where they will be going.
The narration of this book by Kristyl Dawn Tift was wonderful. She has a nice smooth voice that gets you listening and keeps you there.
I would have loved this book to be a little longer, whether delving into their past some more or adding on some future scenes would have been great. The book was enjoyable.
The story and the narration were awesome.
Yes. What a voice!! Such intonation, inflections, etc....
I was moved throughout this book.
Her narration placed me mentally, emotionally and physically in Idaho. When is hr next audiobook????
Yes, especially for people who enjoy hearing stories told aloud. The narrator's voice is especially beautiful, calm and easy on the ears. Clean recording, a great listen for a rainy stormy cold day.
Listen to the end, it gets juicy.
A great Christmas romance. The narrator really brings the characters to life. I soon forgot I was listening to a book.
I turned on this book just to listen to while doing something else and was quickly hooked. I found myself caught up in the story the whole time and didn't want it to end. I listened to the entire thing in one sitting. I lost track of time.
Writer makes you feel like you are right there with the characters. Great descriptions and details. I really enjoyed listening to this story. Would highly recommend.
The narrator make the characters come alive.
I really loved the character Emily!
This is by far another stella performance by Kristyl Tift.
I hope there will be a prequel
Yes, Kristyl Dawn Tift has an amazing voice!!!
It was predictable and I was looking for more humor.
She has a voice that captures your attention and draws you in.
Yes it was a quick read and was a great break from other books I am listening to.
I have read as many of Barbara Morgenroth's books as I can get my hands on, including this book when it was titled A Cowboy For Christmas. I like the new title better, LOL! I thoroughly enjoyed Kristyl Dawn Tift's narration. She did an excellent job of reading Ms. Morgenroth's words. It is still 88 degrees here in Florida, but listening to her I felt like had hit a wall of cold weather exiting the airport in Idaho!
