Thought it would never end.

The story line wasn't bad, but it was really drawn out. I had to make myself finish the book several times and it took me weeks to finish it. I wasn't fond of Angelica (the main female character) at first, but she grew on me as the story line developed. The main male character had no real personality. Maybe that was partly due to the performance, but definitely not all. I'm not sure I would recommend this to anyone. Maybe if it were free or on sale, but I wouldn't waste a credit or buy it at full price.

Pleasing trilogy summation

Where does The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

While it's not a deep and meaningful experience, it's frothy escapism.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae?

The initial interactions of the two main characters were well written.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

After years of Simon Prebble's narration of the Cynster sagas, I'm sorry to report that the new voice does not quite meet his previously recordings.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

For a lark, it's an engaging addition to the Cynster lore.

Don't bother with this Cynster audio book.

I usually love Stephanie Laurens books. I have insomnia so they are great to listen to when the nights get long...but the narrator's voice on this audio actually put me to sleep. He sounds like he is reading a dictionary. No inflections, no exciting, animated, or differentiated voices. What happened to Simon Preble who usually reads Ms. Laurens books? Now there is someone who can read and take you away. I won't buy anymore books with this narrator.

Hot Smokey Hero narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I couldn't wait to hear the narration of the Hero. Matthew did a great deep smokey voice that I just loved. Stoy story was drawn out and I hate to zone out on the overly detailed bits.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The plot. The entire book was about planning to get back a goblet. No really that was it! Just planning to get a goblet.

What about Matthew Brenher’s performance did you like?

His hero voice made my kness weak. Loved it.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Any additional comments?

The author is very detailed in her descriptions no matter if it is a love scence or a conversation. She can go on to a point where you lose interest quick.

Great way to relax and unwind.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae to be better than the print version?

Both versions are wonderful, but the audio edition is my favorite because I can actually close my eyes and imagine the story. It's nice to just lie back and let someone tell you a story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Earl, of course. He has been reviled in the earlier books of the series as a kidnapper, someone to be caught and imprisoned. In this story you get to actually find out what drives him and why he has behaved the way he has.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene at the waterfall at the end. It's tense and suspenseful.

Loved this one!!!

In typical Stephanie Laurens fashion a tale of Cynsters, love, family.... and in this case a wicked twisted plot (and of course long sex scenes) is a perfect historical romance...

NARRATOR : Matthew Brenher is perfect. I think he may be my favorite male narrator. Characters are distinct, voices hold perfect tone, the women sound like women.... he's very good!!

CREDITWORTHY? : Yes!

HEAT FACTOR?: High.... very high without reaching erotica.

Profound, exciting and perfect wrap up.

Where does The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

It was one of the books I have been counting the days for it's release and gone beyond my expectations. I have listened to it twice and gone back to certain scenes to savor.

What other book might you compare The Capture of the Earl of Glencrae to and why?

The Devil's Bride, by the same Author, the exciting plot, the reinforcement of the family values and the strength of the characters.

What about Matthew Brenher???s performance did you like?

Matthew Brenher worked out the pace wonderfully, each one of the feelings portrayed in the tremors of his voice, He performed a perfect Dominic and the rest of the Cynster's and I recommend he get Devil's Voice better it's more serious and deeper in other books and I think it wold mach the quality of his leadership. The female voices were perfect.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was profoundly moved by the Love scenes, they had a Spiritual finess related to the truth of each other in such intimacy.
