Publisher's summary

An arranged marriage leads to passionate love in this classic Scottish historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice is Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison - a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec aches to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie has vowed never to surrender to a man she considers a highland barbarian.

Alec is everything Jamie’s heart has warned her against - an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks speak of savage pleasures. While Kincaid’s scorching kisses set fire to her blood, she is determined to resist him...until one rapturous moment quells their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatens to conquer her senses...

Brilliant story!

This may just be my new favourite book. The story was delightful and full of scenes that had me blushing one minute and smiling ear to ear the next. I couldn't stop listening to it. It made me even reevaluate my own personal qualities... Jamie was such a lovely character. The narrator was spectacular. She put on a unique voice for each character and it was truly an amazing performance.

Better the second time

Read this book some time ago, but didn’t recognize the title when I downloaded it again. Although the plot seemed vaguely familiar it took a chapter or two to remember. By then I was once again chuckling at the humor and antics written in. Can’t believe the detailed delight I discovered secs time. Thought that only happened with movies watched repeatedly. This book will be read again and again. 5 stars of fun

needs different narrator

I love this book, read hardcopy a dozen times, but I was very disappointed with narration. I have heard better Scottish accents.

Wonderful, Romantic and Witty

I love this book more than any other book I have ever read. It's first with "Again the Magic" by Lisa Kleypas in a close second. This story had the strong willed heroine and the errogant hero fighting til they fell in love. And then even fighting after. I loved every moment of it. The narrator is amazing as well. I have listened to this book numerous times.

My favorite author, book and narrator all in this one book.

I cannot say enough about this author and her books. She is just so talented and just keeps you so involved in the story it is very hard to pull away. But, with that being said though this is my all time favorite book of hers. I laughed, cried, got angry loved my heroine and ended up loving her husband that she had no idea she was going to marry him. It is a must read in my opinion for any woman.
