Publisher's summary

Some things are so worth waiting for. Like the moment when Jessica Ward "accidentally" bumps into Bobby Ray Smith and shows him just how far she's come since high school. Back then, Jess's gangly limbs and bruised heart turned to jelly any time Smitty's "all the better to ravish you with" body came near her. So, some things haven't changed. Except now Jess is a success on her own terms. And she can enjoy a romp - or 20 -with a big, bad wolf and walk away. Easy.

The sexy, polished CEO who hires Smitty's security firm might be a million miles from the lovable geek he knew, but her kiss, her touch, is every bit as hot as he imagined. Jess was never the kind to ask for help, and she doesn't want it now, not even with someone targeting her Pack. But Smitty's not going to turn tail and run. Not before proving that their sheet-scorching animal lust is only the start of something even wilder.

Thorougly enjoyed it!!!

I like Shelly Laureston's style of story telling. Love her badass female leads and ultra alpha male characters. this is an easy uncomplicated read. The narration is quite enjoyable too. I particularly enjoy Charlotte Kane's Southern accent.

Hot and Heavy.

This is a great shifter book, with different types of shifters in the book. What is great is that they actually have some of the traits of the real animals. Great characters in this book that has made me anticipate their stories, can't wait to read more. I loved Jessie Ann she is a girl after my own heart. Very sexy men with the right amount of testosterone to keep a girl's heart pounding. There is lots of humor to the story, sometimes I would be laughing out loud, but plenty of smiling like a loon moments. I do wish there was a little more action to the story but I still enjoyed the book very much, I would defiantly classify this book as a romance. I didn't mind the narrator too much, but occasionally she would end her sentences with a screech that was a little distracting. Recommend reading Molly Harper or Katie Macalister for funny romances. Although not quite as funny I would also recommend Tina Folsom's Scanguard series or Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling series.

Bada Bing!

Jessie Ann spent her youth hiding-under bleachers, in closets, up in trees...you get the idea. A wild dog shifter growing up in a town full of Alpha werewolves was not a good place for her. As long as Bobby Ray Smith was around though, she had a protector and a friend. She had a crush on him and he looked out for her, until the day he left for the military and she was on her own.

Years later, Bobby Ray has a security company and is working an event held by the multi-millionaire Jessica Ward. Only this time she's not a cowering puppy but the Alpha of her own pack and a very successful computer nerd. She also blows him off repeatedly and Bobby Ray just isn't having that! This werewolf is finally going to claim his mate.

While the story didn't have much of a plot beyond Bobby Ray trying to get his Jessie Ann, I loved it just the same. I was constantly giggling or out right laughing during most of the book. It was so redneck and ridiculously fun! The only somewhat negative was the narrator. She wasn't bad but her cadence threw me at times. It was like she was yelling the end of her sentences, and that kind of bugged me. Not too bad though!

If you're looking for something light-hearted, sexy and paranormal, I suggest Shelly Laurenston. Just don't expect a serious plot, it's all about the one-liners and the crazy :)

BRAVO, BRAVO Diverse funny love story

Wonderfully written story. Great job of diverse group of characters. Black, white asian with other cultures such as russian. Different breeds of shifters that make packs or families. This story is about a wild african dog female (bw) & childhood love backwood southern Smith wolf male (wm). They grew up caring about each other but, had to grow up to find their own path. Neither forgot about the other. Through fighting against family conflicts, mixed breed prejudices and trying to make a living. Jessy Ann & Bobby Ray (Smitty) love story is full of drama, comedy, action and suspense. The snarky comments betweens the friends & family will keep you in stitches. Not too graphic love scenes. This is DEFINITELY a worth while purchase.. Bravo, bravo of entertaining and inclusive audible love story. Can't wait to listen to more like this.

Very entertaining

I really liked this book and I liked it better then the magnus series. I liked the romance between smitty and Jessica. The book was also funny. I did feel like Jessica should’ve just told him what she wanted, but other then that it was a good listen.

Best New Author I've discovered on Audible

Where does The Beast in Him rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Pretty darn close to the top.

What other book might you compare The Beast in Him to and why?

Hmmmm. Because the book is so funny I would have to compare to other authors that write funny paranormal romances... Molly Harper, Michele Bardsley, Dakota Cassidy. The one difference being that I liked this series so well that I zipped through everything she had available instead of stopping in the middle like I did with the other authors.

What does Charlotte Kane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I did just read the last book in this series since the Audible version hadn't come out yet and I totally missed Kane's accents and the emotion she puts into her performance. Sarcasm and mockery are emotions, aren't they? Kane had an extremely good interpretation of the those points in Laurenston's narrative.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

OMG yes! I'm lucky that I drive for a living anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a day. I think I went through this whole series in two weeks. And most of that was because I was holding off buying the more expensive versions... Whispersync is your friend but there were two books in this series that weren't Whispersync compatible so I used credits for those two.

Any additional comments?

This whole series was amazing and hilarious. Made me run through every book as fast as I could get them. I think this book was the funniest of them all, making me laugh out loud more times than I can count. Totally recommend these books.
