Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Accidentally on Purpose trilogy...

"You were born to be mine, and I was born to be yours."

Donya Stewart's chest filled with the soft beating wings of butterflies when she first met Emmet Grayne's green eyes at the ripe age of five. Unable to identify the tugging pressure within her when in his presence, Donya moved through the first several years of her life addled by her feelings for the boy who was her best friend's brother and very much like her own sibling.

But one cool autumn night in her mystifying teenage years, Emmet erases any ideas Donya has of him being anything like a sibling. Donya and Emmet, unable to deny the invisible cord that fetters them together on an incredibly visceral level, begin a long journey on a road abounding with challenges, hurdles, and destructive forces. Their love for one another is absolute, and the emotional link between them is strong, but when they make a series of painful decisions and mistakes that pull them apart, the strength of that tether is challenged.

Donya's career as a model takes her around the world and away from Emmet, who is working hard for his law degree. When Donya makes a hard decision for both of them, the tether between them stretches beyond what seems possible.

"The tether contorted and quivered and groaned in protest."

With age comes maturity and hindsight. Will Emmet and Donya have to live apart and with the consequences of their choices? Happy endings aren't always a guarantee, even for two people who were born into this world for each other. Will the link between them bring them together or prove to ensnare them in heartache?

If you are in search of an angst-filled romance novel, get tied into Tethered....

Note from the author: Tethered is meant for mature listeners over the age of 18. This is a standalone novel - listening to my other published novels is welcome, of course, but not necessary.

Great title

These two people was their own worst enemies. The story was one that pulls you in and you dont want to.put it down. This book had a lot of suffering going on and while they were both stubborn she was queen of stubborn. Although she accomplished what she wanted to do , she was aware and careful about the pitfalls that could affect her life which was awesome for someone so young. It was great that she didn't fall face first into the lifestyle that models succumb to which hurt them. They drug their feet a lot wasting time. Fred told them right. I enjoyed this story very much.

Book was interesting but way too long

I started enjoying this book towards the end. I was bored with the young Donya their the years. It took me a while to get thru this book because it took you from youth to adult.

My Long Wait Is Over and Rewarded!

It's been three long years since L D Davis released AOP on Audible. So when I got a tweet that Tethered was coming out I preordered and downloaded it at midnight the second it became available.

All I can say is wow! I loved, loved this story, it's well written and takes place from when Donya was a young child and straight through to adulthood and her long lasting connection to Emmett, her bff's older brother. It's filled with drama and angst but it never feels contrived. It's real world problems.

Don't expect the this to be a pretty love story about perfect people who live perfect lives and never do anything wrong or deceitful and live happily ever after. It's a gritty love story about imperfect real people who make very real mistakes and hurt themselves and others along the way. Kinda like real life if you ask me. That in a nutshell is why I enjoy this authors writing so much, it's like me wrapping gifts at Christmas, yeah it's all wrapped up in a pretty bow in the end, but the carnage to get it there is littered all around.

Great job by the narrator, and here's to hoping we get a lot more on Audible from LD Davis.

So much emotion!!

This book was truly amazing!! It’s pretty emotional and made me cry a lot. I think Kate Udall did an incredible job bringing this story to life. I felt like I was in the story hence all the crying lol. The type of connection talked about in this book is so magical and intense. I would strongly recommend this book!!

This is how it was supposed to be...

Coming of age romance between young characters fated with a tethered bond. This invisible cord stretched with time waiting for their moment. They had their ups and downs throughout the years. Yet, They had each other during the significant moments.

Emmet is a character who is protective of others by standing up for them. He is a sexually active guy who needs the physical intimacy. He is a man of action. Donya is a responsible and level headed character who fears the intense feelings that she feels towards Emmet. Being three years younger than Emmet is one of the first battles these characters will face in a long process of love.
Donya’s character tried my patience with her inability to face her fears. She runs from problems putting distance and time between them. Only with Emmet did I notice how she always waited for him to come back to her. I loved Donya’s strong personality and how she rarely let others influence her choices. One other issue with Donya was her inability to be as open minded as Emmet. Emmet held a deeper unconditional love for Donya in my opinion. Donya had some restrictions on the bond that was a little less forgiving. I found her to be far more selfish than Emmet.

Narrator: Kate Udall is the solo performer of all characters in LD Davis’s Tethered. Kate did an excellent job voicing all the characters. I enjoyed listening to her voice perform all the various characters.

Overall: I’m glad I revisited Tethered by audiobook. Although, I forgot how intense this story was. The circumstances of this love story between these two characters was too intense at times which had me stopping multiple times to catch my breath. LD tested my patience and my resolve.

This is a revisit of a book I read in 2014 except this time I chose the audiobook to follow along with. I wanted to see if another voice would change the way I viewed these characters. My first visit wasn’t met with a very positive experience. I needed new listening ears.
The most difficult part of this intense push/pull relationship were the numerous obstacles standing in the way of their love. All the various ways doubt could creep in delaying the love they patiently waited for.

A compelling story from both sides with sadness, pain, laughter, tears, love, and heartache. LD kept me tethered to these characters despite the distance between them. Living life, growing up, making mistakes, and learning about themselves completed the journey.
I really wish this had been a dual point of view story. So many times I wanted to know what Emmet was thinking and what he was doing while Donya was living her life. Instead the reader only heard about Donya when Emmy spoke of him or when Donya saw him.

This story is composed of three parts all equally heartbreaking, honest, and compelling. Each part with their own brand of resentment and regrets.

Marvelous

Wow! This was engrossing and beautiful and epic. What a love story. The narration was so good too, it really made the long listen a delight. Kate Udall was perfect for this job.

Donya is my favourite kind of heroine: spine of steel, vulnerable at times but never helpless; ambitious and driven; loves hard and true. Emmett is a dreamboat, just wish he had been a little bit patient. If he had been, this would have been an 8-hr listen only. :)

LD Davis, I'm now a fan.

BEST BOOK EVER!

I've read this book more than ten times at lease, and I still think it's the best out of all my more than seven hundred Audible books that I own. We need a Tethered Emmett's version. Thank you so much for your hard work that you put into your wonderful awesome books.
