I love audiobooks!!!
I read this book a while ago, yet I feel like I'm listening to an entirely new book! Amazing!
There is nothing that even comes close... Possibly a cross between the Anita Blake books and Cherise Sinclaire... This is a pretty naughty series, yet it's monogamous, as LKH's fan will know is NOT always the case... But it's AS naughty...,
Sabrina, since she is the lead.
No, except maybe for the really naughty bits, lol !
I read this originally as an ebook, but I MUCH prefer the audio. It is sooooooo freaking good!
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
Well, Brenda Tetreault has blown me away with this Paranormal romance and, the way she has written it, really brings you into the story where you'll mix with Damphir's (half Vampire/half Human), Fairies, mystic Fawns, Sprites and a host of other supernaturals. The sexy and handsome owner of Club Nightshade has lived for hundreds of years, seen and done it all (twice), dated models etc etc... but when he sees the beautiful and mysterious Sabrina in his Club he's blown away by instant attraction and lust.... but the feisty Sabrina slips through his fingers. However, when they do meet again, the chemistry is thick between them and stirs up feelings of passion that neither one can ignore.
Sabrina has lived a privileged life, her parents are wealthy but cold, they're uninterested and uncaring of what she wants and their only concern is how her actions will reflect on them.... and on the society they mix in. Sabrina hates this, doesn't feel she fits in and rebels every chance she can by doing socially unacceptable things in defiance of them. But when she meets the mysterious Roman her life changes, first because she's charmed by this sexy charismatic man.... and then because she is suddenly plunged into danger. There's someone, or something, scary out to hurt her and slowly she is introduced to a very different world.... a world made up of weird and wonderful creatures.... Fairies, Vampires and miscellaneous bloodthursty Monsters. Roman becomes her protector as well as her lover as paranormal mayhem disrupts, interferes and completely changes, her whole life.
A really enjoyable paranormal love story that's full of action as well as suspense, surprises, sex, shrieks and a plot twist or two. There are sub-plots with other character's love lives that will, I'm sure, continue and flourish into them having books of their own. Dual POV's (occasionally other characters too) and the narrator did a good job with the voices, accents and moods of the book.
Worth a credit? It's got great characters (and not just the main H/H), it's a great start to a new imaginative paranormal series, there's a very entertaining and exciting plot that's action-packed, descriptive as well as addictive..... and there's a drool-worthy, dark, intense and sinfully sensual Hero..... who bites!! So, YEAH, this is just my kinda listen and, IMO, definitely creditworthy.
I was already a fan of this series....and now I love it even more with this narration!!
Yes, Sonja Field is Phenom and brought new life to the book! She is just as wonderful as Tavia Gilbert...maybe even better!!
The Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood) - It has all sorts of different types of characters, Vampire, Fairies and more! I think Brenda does better than Charlaine Harris at keeping them and their stories straight though.
Roman...I want to lick him! LOL
YES!! I almost did too!!
I am soooo looking forward to the next book in this series!
What a rollercoaster this poor girl has had to live. Then Roman enters her life and it gets even more upside down before he helps Sabrina straighten it out. Btw great Roman voice. And Gaela should play a little harder to get or just hit him in the head! Great read can't wait for more!!!!
I loved everything about this book, it will be my new addiction. the characters, the writing, everything, fabulous.
the narration was superb! she did a fantastic job.
This book pulls you in from the start... The constant action keeps you interested and nervous for what happens to Sabrina... and the love story unfolding is absolutely magical! A MUST LISTEN!!! Worth the time and money.. :)
I haven't read the print version, but the narrator was really great in the audio.
Strong storytelling, and strong characters. Unique enough to stand on its own.
She did a great job with all of them. She did multiple accents and characters, and they all were excellent.
Roman and Sabrina have some really sweet moments
Full Review -
Yep, I totally loved this! It's so good! I loved the whole premise and I loved that this books deals with vampires and other supernatural types. In Tempted, Roman, who is a dhampir (half human, half vampire), sees Sabrina across the room in his nightclub, Nightshade, and feels a strong attraction and pull towards her. Sabrina also feels a pull towards Roman, and the two have a moment, but it doesn't go much further before they separate, but Roman isn't ready to let Sabrina walk out of his life. Sabrina is from a well-off family, but she is a bit of a wild child because her parents are a bit cold towards her and they try to run her life, so she rebels by doing some things that aren't very smart and make her seem childish, which normally would bother me, but I liked that Sabrina had sass and that she understood that her actions weren't really helping anything. Sabrina is intelligent and I think she handles having a lot of crazy thrown at her wonderfully. At one of these little rebellions, Roman and Sabrina end up meeting again, but the meeting doesn't quite go as Roman would have hoped, but eventually they end up reconnecting. I don't want to spoil it, so I'll just say this action by Sabrina was really the only thing I didn't enjoy about this story, and I didn't like the thought that Roman was there frequently enough to be knowledgeable about the setting, but luckily it wasn't too big a part of the story, so I didn't let it affect my rating. Roman and Sabrina begin to grow closer, but Roman has his secrets that may make Sabrina leave him, so he is trying to find the right time to mention these things to her, but some outside forces intrude on Roman and Sabrina's relationship causing strife. Roman has some dangerous people in his past that aren't too happy that Sabrina is in Roman's life, so Roman and Sabrina are on a tough road to happiness. Roman and Sabrina are hot together, and I loved how much Roman feels for Sabrina. They have a really great connection; deep and heartfelt, and I was surprised with how sweet the romance ended up being. The sex scenes are very steamy, and definitely had my heart pounding. Tempted really pulled me in, and the story is very interesting. The whole story was so full of wonderfulness, and I just love Brenda Tetreault's writing! I love that there are different types of supernaturals in this book, and I especially loved that Roman's "butler" was a fawn! So cool! That character was so much fun! We also get a glimpse at the relationship between Caine and Gaela, who are Roman's bodyguard and sister, and their story just broke my heart! Although the majority of the book is about Roman and Sabrina, Caine and Gaela get some chapters too, and normally I don't like when focus is taken off the main couple, but I loved their story so much, so I wasn't disappointed at all that they get some scene time. I was truly hoping that the next book would be a continuation of their story, but I have to wait one more book before that happens, so I'm going to have to hurry up and read the next book, so I can get to their book. I'm definitely going to have to do that sooner rather than later because I want more Caine and Gaela! I loved how Tempted's story evolved, and I enjoyed the bit of mystery and the little surprises. I also listened to the audio version of this story, and the narrator is amazing! She does multiple voices and accents, and does a great job! I'm really looking forward to the next book! The next book is about Caius, who is a villain in this book, so that will be interesting to see his story, when he was mentioned in this book, I did think I would like to read his story, so although I want Caine and Gaela's story, I'm excited to read Caius' story too!
I loved the characters and the story.
The balance of romance to to story.
Come in and be Tempted
Not really, The story was great but the writing was less than great
Can't think of anything I would compare it to. Sorry
I found it hard to understand some of the characters due to their accents, especially Adriana. Also, it was really weird to hear the sexual language come out of what sounded like the voice of a toddler. It really took away from the dialog.
Better voices and less overuse of adjective. Once the description has been made, move onto the story; more description is not needed.
Tempted (Nightshade #1) Audio 3 Stars
By Brenda Tetreault
A great story, I loved the idea of bringing fairies and vampires together. The characters were well developed and readers will easily relate to them. Tempted is the first of a series, but can easily be a read alone if readers stop at the epilogue.
As I said, I loved the story and the imagination of the author; but I found the book to be a bit over-written. The overuse of adjectives took away from the story, and made it a bit and repetitive. The story could have been just a great with half the length. Less is more. I enjoyed Tempted, but felt it could have been better; I rate it with 3 Boundless Stars.
