"Fiery romance filled with interesting and dynamic characters..." (Booklist)
Rachel Gibson is one of my absolute favorite authors. I was thrilled to see one of her books finally available on Audible. As always, her books never fail to disappoint...she is witty, a great story line and her characters are always interesting. Note of warning on this one...she can be a bit graphic at times!! I'm looking forward to more selections from Rachel soon, I hope!
What a great listen. Mattie and Mick were so well written you could feel all the emotions. This book pulled me and I and just couldn't stop listening. I only hope that we get more from this writer/narrator combo. Both were fantastic!
Funny story of an amazingly strong woman and her fantastical life! Gibson has the ability to create characters which are both believable and interesting! Really enjoyed listening to this one, the narrator is great! The sex scenes are the most graphic I've ever heard, but that made the book even better! :)
Live, love, laugh...
Mick's father was having an affair with Maddie's mother. Mick's mother found out and killed them, and then committed suicide. Twenty nine years later Maddie came back to Trulie to write a book about the tragedy, never expecting to find Mick so irresistible. This story was good but it dragged a bit. Although it was only a little over 8 hours long it felt like double that time. But the last chapter was so so good! I just loved the ending.
The narrator did a good job but definitely not her best. Ive listened to other books narrated by ms. Poole and those were much better. This story had lots of hot sex but it was not that big on the romance.
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
This was a mix of Linda Howard's After the Night, my all time fave book and a mix of RG own imagination. Good use of her outline and HEAE.
Mick, just a good all around guy who is going forward and had a great attitude.
Ms Poole reads as Justine O'Keef in the Erotic genre. So if you like erotica and Ms Poole, try Olivia Cunning Sinners series. I have requested a list of AKA for readers because some I love and some, I just will not re listen. Audible is great in their programs so as long as they partner up in a great listen, then I can venture out on new readers. Ms Poole read 2 of RG books, I own but did not realize she had an AKA name and I had listened to her before. I am on the fence with her recording voice. Other reviews had mixed views, but I did not agree with the pause issue. I just am unsure if I even like her reading voice so my 2nd RG book will given me another op to see if I even want to continue buying her recordings. Many listeners buy for the story, I buy for the reader as many good ones can read the phone book and it is entertaining.
I purchased about 6 to 8 RG books all at once as I did not know which one to start and all the stories had good "fun" reviews. Some are better and had more humor, the hockey team, and the Truly connection seem to have a different message, but since I have only gotten through 1 not sure if Truly stories are for me. I needed a laugh hence RG books. The jury is still out on this author for me.
Yes, I would listen to this book again. I probley will.
I loved the main character, Mattie Jones. Self made women, knows how to satisfy the man she's with.
No I listen on my drive to work and home.
This was a fasinating book. I enjoyed the plot. It was a book is about how forgiveness can ease pain in your life you never knew you had.
I did enjoy story. it was definitely different. I believe Ms. Poole's narration helped keep me listening. That and it was quite sexy. I would surely suggest it to other readers and I will try another book by Rachel Gibson.
There aren't many surprises in this romance novel. It's pretty stereotypical stuff, with the hot chick and the hot guy who hate each other at first and end up falling for each other. It has some steamy sex scenes and the action and dialogue are engaging enough. The narrator can get annoying because you can hear her breathing in after every sentence. Personally, I found the whole nonsense about the main female character not telling her big "secret" annoying and predictable. I must admit, however, that I am not a big fan of romance because I hate predictable plots. At any rate, I listened to the whole thing, and while I found myself rolling my eyes at times, I didn't get bored.
