Publisher's summary

The new blazing hot trilogy by the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon The Breathless Trilogy

In her sensational Breathless Trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks tested the boundaries of desire. In her new trilogy, there's only one thing left to do: Cross them. And for a married couple taking steps to renew their marriage, the consequences of one single moment of inattention may come at a price the husband never expects…

Chessy and Tate have been married for several years. In the beginning, their relationship was everything she wanted. Passionate. All-consuming. She offered her submission freely and Tate cherished her gift with a tenderness that made her feel safe. Content. Wanted. Loved beyond all measure. But as the years have gone by, Tate has become more immersed in making his business a success, and Chessy has taken a back seat to his business obligations. Growing unhappy with the status of their once blissful marriage, Chessy knows that something has to give, or they stand to lose it all.

Tate loves his wife. Has always loved her. Providing for her has always been his number-one priority. But lately she's seemed unhappy, and he's worried. Worried enough that he arranges for a night together that he hopes will reignite the fire that once burned like an inferno between them.

But a business call at the wrong time threatens everything. Chessy's safety, his concentration, his wife's faith in him as her husband - a man sworn to love and protect her above all else. Gutted with the realization that he's going to lose her - has already lost her - he readies for the fight of his life. Whatever it takes, he'll get her back, show her that nothing is more important than her love. And that if she'll allow him to prove himself one more time, he'll take it all. Everything. But he'll give back far more: Himself. His undying love.

Book Number 3 In The Series - A Little Bit Better

What did you like best about Taking It All? What did you like least?

Tate and Chessy have been married for five years. Their relationship is one of a Dom/submissive. This is always work for them and what they desire from one another. However, for the past couple of years Chessy has felt neglected as Tate works to build his financial firm.

It all comes to a head on the night of their anniversary. Chessy is left to make the reservations and Tate agrees to meet her at the restaurant. However, after two hours of sitting by herself she realizes that once again, Tate has chosen business over her. She gets ready to leave and sees Tate, with another woman, in the restaurant. She is shattered.

What follows is an ongoing conversation between the two of them over what Chessy needs, but being a submissive she is not supposed to say what she wants. It is a rocky road with their ups and downs, broken promises, expectations, etc.

The narrator was good with female voices, but I do not know what or who she was trying to channel with the male voices. The whole series is awkward because of her performances of the male characters. It really took away from the story for me.

What a roller coaster ride...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I loved this book. I have listened to the entire series - and I think this is by far my favorite. Throughout the other two books Chessy's problems have been mentioned but not addressed. Now they are and WOW... While it can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend you read the other two first. You will love them. Maya Banks is amazing.. I love her books!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chessy was at the start, but as the story went on I started more and more to like Tate!

Have you listened to any of Alix Dale’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She was amazing as always!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but if I tell you which one it may spoil the book for someone else.

Any additional comments?

A great book and a wonderful series. A must read in my book!!

Meh

A Maya Banks for years. This fell way short. I skipped through 85% of it. Not my best use of a credit.

Can You?

In the last two books I’ve felt compassion for the main characters and even cried during their more severe struggles but this book? Maybe it’s because I’m the type of person who’s always waiting for the proverbial other foot to drop but, my dislike a disgust for Tate is strong. I could never trust him again if my dom had betrayed me the way he did. I would rather be cheated on or slapped across the face by he himself rather than what he did to her, it is a dom’s job and ONLY priority to protect his sub, especially when she is vulnerable. I’ll be disgusted by Tate for a very long time.

Reader

She read the story well but I think I would have preferred a male to read this one. More excitement

Another Horrible Read (listen)

What was most disappointing about Maya Banks’s story?

The story line, character, narrator, everyting about his book was just not good. I wish I could attach my last two reviews from the previous books to this review so I wouldn't have to type all of this again.

Just......not a good book. There's really nothing good I can say about this book. 7hours 20min of listening time was 5 hours and 20 mins too long.

Just a bad book overall...
