From number-one New York Times best-selling author Abbi Glines comes the story of Grant, the sexy playboy who first captured listeners’ hearts in Fallen Too Far.
When Harlow Manning’s rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan’s room in nothing but his boxer briefs.
Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He’d known about Nan’s reputation, but still he couldn’t resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister - even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow’s eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?

I'm proud to be a bookaholic...addicted, obsessed, passionate!!! My favorite way to relax & escape reality....
I liked the book but not the ending because to me there was no true ending. I cant even qualify this as a cliffhanger. Normally I genuinely love Abbi Glines but this book started getting on my nerves!! There were a few things about this book that I did not like. It wasn't that the storyline was bad but it was the relationship between the two leads that did not make sense to me. This is the first couple in the series I just didn't feel the connection with.
Grant was a complete whorish douchbag! I just can't forgive him especially after the "twins".
It was interesting to learn more about Harlow and why she was so secluded all the time. There were a lot of unexpected secrets in this story. I wish Harlow didn't give into Grant so easily. She should have made him work for it a little harder, a lot harder actually. However, I did enjoy Grant for his dirty mouth. The Rosemary Beach boys are really good at that.
Abbi Glines definitely knows how to write some hot and dirty scenes and that's exactly what you get in Take A Chance. Along with the dramatic twists and turns (especially near the end), and the very alluring characters. I wil read the next book but I'm not sure if it will help endear me to Grant.
Refreshing, Obsession, Love
Ummm... I can't choose whether it's Harlow or Grant.
Harlow's character is so refreshing, honest, and a lot more risqué than she first appears. As Grant proves to be worthy of Harlow's trust, her walls and defense mechanisms begin to fade. Her unexpectedly witty, and contagious personality is revealed and the reader can't help but to fall for her charm.
Grant... Oh Grant, there aren't enough adjectives to describe his complex character. His need to gain both Harlow's trust (more than once), as well as her love, is truly a feat simply admirable and the reader can't help but to cheer him on the entire time. He is funny, extremely sexy, protective, strong, impulsive, and just so determined. It's nearly impossible not to fall in love with Grant.
Basically, it's a tie.
Shayna's voice was absolutely perfect for Harlow. Between the way her insecure inner thoughts, innocent way she approached people like her "daddy," and finally the unexpected downright spunky, seductive, and passionate voice, are all portrayed perfectly. I can literally picture Harlow throughout the entire book. Of all the books I've listened to with her narration, Take A Chance, by far, is the best.
Like Shayna, Jack's voice matches Grant's character very well. It's very easy to imagine even his facial expressions by the tones and inflections portrayed. I always enjoy listening to Jack's voice, as it matches the appropriate voice of a character Grant's age, along with all of the males portrayed in Abbi Glines various audiobooks.
Oh. My. Word.
Yes and Yes.
I laughed out loud more often than not to the point of drawing glances from those around me, as I listened blissfully in my own world.
In the same way, my emotions were overwhelming in the sad, even gut-wrenching, parts of the book. The balance of emotion is fairly equal, but the ending is an intense cliffhanger and not a positive one. (I can't believe we have to wait until September before book 2 is released! The suspense is killing me!!)
This book is a MUST read and is my favorite of the Rosemary Beach books, something I never expected!! I read this book in one day and then went and listened to it again, because I found myself missing the characters. Yep, it's that good.
Will do anything for books!
MAJOR FREAKING CLIFFHANGER!!! Next book isn't coming until after summer...I may lose my mind. I like Harlow and Grant, though really Grant can be a major idiot! The whole thing with Nan...really dude, seriously? why has no one just put her out of her misery yet?
Okay, so I like this series, I live the characters, I enjoyed catching up with previous couples, etc. I would have liked to have seen a lot more with this couple, we saw some good progress but there is a long way to go. I would wait on this until closer to the release of the next. I think I like Wood's book more, possibly best, but this is good and I will continue. Once the next one comes I will listen to this again, possibly all of them again because they are good. Rush does piss me off in the very beginning but I get over that.
I love Abbi Glines so I was really dissappointed in this book. Her writing and characters are typically amazing. I just couldn't connect with the characters, I felt like I didn't know anything about them. Grant was shallow and didn't really do anything but sleep with women. Unfortunately, I was most dissappointed in Harlow's character. She was kind of weak and didn't seem to have any goals or aspirations in life. Normally the author writes about really strong women who have goals and who are survivors. Harlow didn't have any goals or plans for the future.
I hate to only criticize so I will say that the love scenes are good and I enjoyed hearing about Rush, Blaire, Woods and Della.
Great love story
The end was not what I expected.
This was one of the best books in the series and I can only hope that we are not left hanging. Grant and Harlow belong together and the ending in this book leaves you begging for the rest of the story. Please tell me it's not over????!!!!
You know how there are 'teasers' of future stories/spin offs that are written into a book within a series? Well, the teaser for this story had me more riveted than the full story! I'm exaggerating a bit, but, I think it could've been better. The narrators left a lot to be desired and I think that frustrated me at times, especially Harlow's narrator--it was like she'd just learned how to read & speak. Grant's narrator was decent but had a lot of angst and added dramatics in his voice when it seemed totally unwarranted. Now that I've made you completely disinterested :) I should say that, I'm a sucker for these characters and can't wait for the next book, however, to my dismay, yet again, Abbi Glines gave us a FREAKING CLIFFHANGER! I really think the conclusion to Grant's and Harlow's story will be really good, because I'm hoping Grant will grow a pair and just love Harlow the way she deserves.
The characters are the best part of this book. Getting to know Harlow and her strength. Finding out Grant is not as perfect as he seems in the previous Rosemary Series books. In fact sometimes you out right want to slap him in this book. Meeting Mace, Harlow's brother, and seeing just how much he loves and will protect her. Meeting and really getting to see the real Kiro and his capacity to love. The surprise that it is possible to hate Nan more than you did in the last book.
Harlow was my favorite character. I loved her strength and her ability to handle everything that was thrown at her. As Grant put it in the book "her ability to cut deep with no drama".
I thought the Shayna Thibodeaux and Jack DuPont did an amazing job. It was their vocals that help give the reader so much passion for the characters. You really feel that Harlow and Grant are telling their stories.
Harlow deserves soooooo much better...seriously!
In all the Rosemary Series books before this one I have loved Grant. But in this book I just wanted to slap him for being so weak and for making such stupid decisions. Grant was bit whinny in this book (funny I usually say that about the female characters, not male) but I am sure after reading One More Chance, Grant will redeem himself and I can continue my love for him cause right now I just want to smack him! That is why "In Abbi We Trust." Because I believe in One More Chance, Grant will atone for his horrible decisions and be the man that Harlow not only needs but deserves!
It's one of the best book I have listened. Great book.
The same title of the book.
Love Dystopian novels, Romance and Murder Mysteries!
I love Abbi Glines.
I love this series.
However, this book ends and you are left with your mouth open....like, that's it?!?!
Harlow and Grant's story is lovely. I love how innocent Harlow is. That is, until Grant gets her to act all naughty!
Of course you have to read it if you have started this Rosemary Beach series. Worth the credit =)
I like stories that flow into more than one book but I hate to waste my money an have to buy another book to find out what is going to happen to me it only to make more money. No matter how much I like the author they are off my list to buy another book. SHAME ON ALL PUBLISHERS AN AUTHORS THAT DO THIS .
It not the book people its whoever trying to make more money . It's an not like it has to be in a store or you pay a sales clerk an building fee an so on .
Stop trying to make money an have a beginning middle and ending of a story in one book. When a person only can spend x amount of money on books this is deceitful. Unless I messed it should be I the 1st line that this book is not a complete . I would return a ask for my money back but I have finish it . As I said not buying another Abbi Glines book for a long time if ever !#?#!?!
