Publisher's summary

Content to hide behind her camera, Maddy Adams often feels more comfortable observing life rather than actively participating in it. For the past five years she's focused only on her studies and building her photography career.

The summer after her college graduation, Maddy returns to Lake of the Pines for her sister Liv's wedding. While she's happy her sister has found love again, Maddy wonders if she'll ever find love herself. Her college roomie keeps pressuring her to go out with her older brother, who happens to be vacationing at the same lake. Maddy doesn't want to go on another blind date, but after blowing it with the gorgeous man she met on the beach she doesn't have anything to lose.

Or does she? Mason Ellis finds himself on a beautiful house boat docked at Lake of the Pines after finally taking his best friend's long-standing invitation to visit. He has two long weeks away from his fast-paced software development business to relax and unplug if he can. Six months ago the woman he'd lived with for two years left him for someone else.

Tired of meaningless hookups, Mason wants more, but is afraid of getting burned again. When he spies a woman on the beach taking his photo, he's intrigued. However, when he finally meets the mystery photographer, she brushes him off. Meanwhile, his little sister keeps pestering him to go on a blind date with her old college roommate. Maybe a blind date is just what he needs to get back into the dating scene. It's not like it will lead to anything more. Or will it?

The narrator makes all the difference

Where does Take Your Time rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very entertaining.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Take Your Time?

Maddy and Mason's first date reminded me of that moment when you feel excited, nervous and happy, all at the same time. Kelly Hazen does an excellent job of creating a very specific persona for each character. Her narration of that scene is so engaging that you forget there is no background ambient noise, no music, and just one person's voice. Yet, if I think about it, I can see the whole thing clearly: a restaurant, the noise of people talking, and music in the background, plus the handsome guy and the cute girl having fun during their dinner date. It's all in your head, and a good story teller makes that possible.

Which character – as performed by Kelley Hazen – was your favorite?

Probably Madison's ex-fiancé. She's an annoying and superficial woman and that's exactly the way Kelly made her sound without overdoing it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, no doubt.

Any additional comments?

This is an easy read that may be perfect for traveling or the beach. The audio version is a very good companion. Although the story itself may be weak at times, the audiobook performance makes all the difference. It feels like a friend is telling you the story of someone they know or the plot of a movie.

I Loved it!

I love it when an author combines romance, humor and some suspense. This book Take Your Time by Shar Dimick has all the elements plus an original story. The narration on this book is perfection. Kelly Hazen delivers distinguishable voices for the various characters, that one can know exactly whom is speaking. I also loved the imagery in this book. Without going into detail, the first date is awesome! I could envision so much with this book. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Very Enjoyable

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. I don't usually listen to contemporary romance, but the narrator did such a good job that I found it very enjoyable. The characters and the situations are believable. There is a little bit of suspense and lots of humour. Definitely a good combination of author and narrator. It's well worth listening too.
