Some days, a girl just can't catch a break...especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men.
First there's her relationship with gorgeous best-selling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It's not just that they can't have sex, in case Georgina inadvertently kills him (generally a turn-off for most guys). Lately, even spending time together is a challenge. Seth's obsessed with finishing his latest novel, and Georgina's under demonic orders to mentor the new (and surprisingly inept) succubus on the block.
Then there are the dreams. Someone, or something, is preying on Georgina at night, draining her energy and supplying eerie visions of her future. Georgina seeks answers from Dante, a dream interpreter with ties to the underworld, but his flirtatious charm only leaves her more confused - especially as the situation with Seth reaches a crisis point.
Now Georgina faces a double challenge: rein in her out-of-control love life, and go toe-to-toe with an enemy capable of wreaking serious havoc among mankind. Otherwise, Georgina, and the entire mortal world, may never sleep easy again.
Spend some more time with succubus Georgina Kincaid...if you dare.

Succubus Dreams is an emotionally draining, unexpectedly insightful book about love, death, and everything in between. Elisabeth's narration is, as usual, flawless. She is Georgina Kincaid! The ending absolutely devastated me but, I have faith in Richelle Mead. All is not lost! Inspite of the brutal curve ball that gets thrown at readers, Succubus Dreams is the best installment yet!
After reading the back blurb, I expected another comical yet sizzling addition to the Georgina Kincaid series. The first half of this book definitely delivers on both those fronts. The preposterousness of one succubus trying to teach another how to pick-up men struck me from the get go. Georgina's not exactly the patient, mentoring type; so I was eager to see what sort of havoc Tawny was going to stir up. Mead did not disappoint! Saying that Kincaid's methods are unconventional is the biggest understatement of the year. She tries everything to get the newbie laid but to no avail. I didn't expect that a tall, big boobed, blonde barbie-type woman would have such problems hooking up!
The weirdest yet cutest couple in paranormal romance are at it again! I'm head over heels in love with Seth. Talk about the sweetest guy on the face of the planet! Although, his relationship with Georgina takes a serious turn in Succubus Dreams and never really bounces back. Their talks are incredibly moving, astoundingly deep and will leave you with the urge to reach into their world and shake some sense into these two love birds. You are going to cry at least once while reading this book. Guaranteed! There's once scene that I'm having trouble shaking. It's just so... sad. Absolutely brilliant writing on Richelle's part but, WHY!? Why did she have to devastate us like that? I'm still not completely over it. Can you tell?
A new character by the name on Dante is introduced and I thoughroughly enjoyed his story. Admittedly, I spent a good chunk of the book despising him but after learning why he is the way he is and witnessing his conversations with Georgina; I take every negative thing I thought about him back. He's definitely not an angel like Seth but there's something equally as charming about a tortured soul. There's also a second love story between Vincent and Yasmine that's as tragic as Georgina and Seth's. Even Mead's witty humour won't be able to distract you from how sad this book really is. Apparently Richelle doesn't believe in happily ever after for her characters. Well, not yet anyway.
I was pleasantly surprised by Mead's broad spectrum writing in this third installment. Georgina's trademark blunt, sarcastic charm is ever present and one of the main reasons why I love this series so much. But, the emotional depth that's demonstrated by several of the characters in Succubus Dreams was unexpected yet remarkably well done. I'm hoping that Succubus Heart has a lighter tone though because I don't think that I can take two heartbreaking books in a row! Succubus Dreams is my favorite and least favorite novel in this series so far. Try to figure that one out!
If you haven't read the first two books in the series, then read them first. Once you get started, then you're hooked. The characters are the key, they will grab you and become your closest friends. You feel Georgina's and Seth's turmoil, and it breaks your heart. This particular book really does this, and I'm glad that I don't have to wait a year, for the next in the series. Can just keep going and hope that she finds some sort of peace with her life at the end of the series. If you're looking for a feel good book, don't go for this book. It's a deep look into emotions, and hopeless love. You might be able to read the first two and not read this one. When you start this book, there is no stopping the heartbreak, that will make you go straight for Book 4.
It took me forever to choose to read the Succubus series....I didn't want another Anita Blake type sex all the time etc. I was delighted to see once I did purchase this series that the story was amazing and didn't include pages and pages of sex in order to make up a plot. In book one and two, I feel in love with Seth and deparately wanted Georgina and Seth to find a way to be happy*****Spoilers**** but by the end of this book I felt as though Seth had betrayed me! I felt so strongly at the way their breakup took place that I struggled with continuing to like this character. However, like Georgina, I am a sucker for that intrevert artsy type and can't wait to read book 4 just to see how this all works out.
I have really enjoyed Mead's writing style and am kicking myself for not buying this series sooner. I am an avid audio book listener and have to say Elizabeth Rodgers is one of the best narrator's I have heard in the paranormal genre. Would recommend these books to anyone interested in this genre.
Reviewing Romance & Urban Fantasy
Elisabeth Rodgers brings Georgina Kincaid to life again in the 3rd book of the series, Succubus Dreams. This time around Georgina takes us on an emotional ride through a flashback about one of her past relationships while trying to make things work with her current love, Seth.
Like the last two books, there’s a mystery to be solved and this time around there’s something draining Georgina’s powers while she sleeps. Oh and something is making people all over town kill themselves or others out of the blue. Could it all be connected? That’s what Georgina and her group of hellions have to figure out. But this time around there’s a group of out-of-town angels helping.
As if Georgina doesn’t have her hangs full already she is now tasked to mentor a newbie succubus. A really bad succubus, this chick can’t get a date to save her life. Really! Georgina has to share some of her power with her to keep her going.
The ever mounting sexual tension between Georgina and Seth peaks to an all time high leaving the two even more frustrated than ever. Can they survive on love alone? You’ll have to read to find out. All I can say is that after the second I finished Succubus Dreams I started the next book, Succubus Heat.
The team of Richelle Mead and Elisabeth Rodgers continues to reel me in and never fails to entertain me.
I've only listened to the audio, so can't really compare it to the print version.
The big confrontation scene at the end, most definitely. I don't want to say more because it would be too spoilery, but it'll rip your heart out and leave you aching on Georgina's behalf.
She really brings the characters to life and helps you to visualize what's going on a lot better than just reading it on a page or a screen would I think. Each character is done with a different voice, even if it's just a subtle difference of tone in how she reads their lines, such that you quickly learn to recognize who's speaking even before they're identified.
This one will definitely have you wanting to cry I think. Also will have you wanting to scream "No! Stop! Don't!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book despite, or perhaps because, of the emotional roller coaster it takes you on. Where in the earlier books we've gotten to see Georgina at some of her highest and happiest points, in this book we get to see her at her lowest. Will she recover from it? The jury's still out on that one. I definitley look forward to continuing the series to find out the answer and to see where things go from here for all of the characters involved. The more we learn about Georgina and her world, the more fascinating it becomes until you can't wait to learn even more. 4½ stars to an excellent entry in a very strong series.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
It was just plain good...not as good as book 1 and 2, but still kept me interested through out the entire story....
Georgina as always...she is complex, funny, and someone you can relate to, even if she is supposed to be evil....lol She is pretty good for a succubus...
I think she is the perfect Georgina...she is a great narrator....I would like to listen to something else by her...
Not this one, the first 2 yes...this one I savored slowly....
I love Georgina, and am moving on to book 4 now...I know I will love it too....I hope Georgina eventually finds the happiness she deserves....I think she has really paid for her sins...
I listen to a bit of everything. Mostly Fantasy and paranormal romance with my wife. Along with mysteries/thrillers, even some sci-fi.
This is a good follow-up to the disappointing Succubus on Top. This introduces some interesting new characters who bring a lot to Georgina's world. Some are good, some are bad, but they're interesting and help support a weak Georgina. Dante is a good supporting character with a lot more than meets the eye which is good because the book's main antagonist doesn't have a lot to do this time around. The mystery regarding the dreams is interesting and pretty fun. So is Georgina's new roomate. Carter plays a bigger role this time around and I like his charater a lot, so listeing to him interact with the rest of the group and Georgina is good.
While I like Succubus on Top, it was a lot weaker than the series premier. Luckily, Succubus Dreams makes up for the weaker story. Looking forward to getting book 4.
a bit better than most paranormal books
I would, I'm enjoying this series
This book is not in my normal genre BUT if you enjoy these types of books you can't go wrong with this series.Performance is top notch, story is good.Start with book one though!
I love this series. Very entertaining and light. Makes you keep wanting to listen to all of them. Going to be bummed when there is no more to listen to. Great books to escape with!
From the description of this book, I did not think I would like it, but it was on sale and I like paranormal books, so what the heck, I gave it a try. And I really liked it! Lots of action, mystery, supernaturals, etc. And some sex. After all, she is a succubus. So don't plan to listen to this one with your kids in the car. Only one thing I don't understand. How can you be centuries old and not be stinking rich? My husband and I have accrued more money as we get older. And that's with just a normal human life span (hopefully). Why would you have to work in a book store, or any where else? I don't get that. Otherwise, very enjoyable. The narrator did a very good job also.
