Publisher's summary

The most highly-anticipated novel in the Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series since Acheron is here—the unforgettable story of Styxx, Acheron's twin brother and one of the most powerful beings on earth

Just when you thought doomsday was over . . .

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn't always been on his brother's side. They've spent more centuries going at each other's throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he's willing to trade his life and future for Acheron's.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.

She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it's hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

my favorite book ever. the narrator was a tiny disappointing, the accents were british instead of greek but its not so distracting that it takes away from the story

This was too sad

This book was so overwhelming sad and intense. It’s like Kenyon was in a black dark place while writing this. Acheron was bad but this was unrelenting agony. You couldn’t really enjoy it because it’s just depressing. The Dark Hunters were always one of my faves but I wish this book wasn’t part of it🙄

too long & repetitive

if you read/listened to Acheron, 3/4 of this book repeats EVERYTHING from that book. absolutely not worth the price or the time.

also, why do authors have to retrofit the bad guy to be a misunderstood good guy? I liked Styxx more when he was bad.

Reread with a new perspective

Warning spoilers…
I am a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon and this so far is the only book that I would start and stop not for the reasons many readers have mentioned the child abuse is extreme and horrific but that wasn’t the problem for me. I have adored Ash since the first book . That had adoration had casted Styxx as the horrible brother it has taken a while for me to look at the other side of the story . I am doing this review almost 10 years after the original release so after Stygian, which made me want to refresh and fill in some of the holes in the tapestry and world created and nurtured by Ms Kenyon Now after this reread I can safely say the brothers hold an equal place in my heart!!!What woman can resist a handsome sexy sweet tragic hero not me!!!
The only complaint I have is I normally both read and listen to the audio book of every one of the Dark-hunter/were-hunter/Chronicle of Nick stories I am not a fan of this narrator, in fact I believe the narrator extremely poor job is why I really was unable to enjoy the audio book I feel the book is just being read to you where the others are being preformed for the listener and his pronouncing of important words is different not only in comparison to other narrators but also throughout the book ( this is very off putting )
So in conclusion this is a very important piece to Ms Kenyon overall lore but in itself a wonderful book but as a huge fan of the audio version please get a new narrator

Great Book

I wanted to hate Styxx, I really did. If your an avid reader of this series then you already know who Styxx is, but if you haven't read this book then you really don't know him at all. This is by far the second best book in the series (Acheron being the first great book). I have read all these books twice and I am now listening to all of them and I learn more and more everytime. Do sit back and get ready to go on a Rollercoaster of emotion that will keep you craving more!!
