Publisher's summary

The most highly-anticipated novel in the Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series since Acheron is here—the unforgettable story of Styxx, Acheron's twin brother and one of the most powerful beings on earth

Just when you thought doomsday was over . . .

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn't always been on his brother's side. They've spent more centuries going at each other's throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he's willing to trade his life and future for Acheron's.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.

She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it's hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

love this series!

The performance is well read and matches the feelings I have ever had about the books and series! Well read characters, both written and performed. loved the other side of the story. I listened to Acheron and Styxx back to back and the way they intertwined and developed was amazing!

Heartbreakingly Good (my 2nd read/ listen through)

After listening to Acheron, I thought his book was good, sad but good. But once I started Styxx, I hated Ach and esp Rissa (not to mention the gods of the two pantheons). I can't tell you how many times I cried during this book and how much it made me feel so distraught and heartbroken for Styxx. There was a lot more rape than I remember and I wish there were more Bet and Styxx interactions after they reunited at the very end. I hope we see this couple more in future books

Good book, ok performance

Having read 15 or so of the dark hunter books, including Acheron, I thought I would give Styxx a try. The book was about what I expected. I came to love Styxx a little more, Acheron a little less and really just started to hate Ryssa. The only thing that really bother me while listening to the book was Artie’s accent, I don’t know what it was but it didn’t sound Greek to me.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is an extraordinary Story teller!

Where does Styxx rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Like Sherrilyn Kenyon's book "Acheron", I will carry "Styxx" with me in my heart - always. If you have never read the Dark Hunter series, I recommend "Acheron" then "Styxx". These two Dark Hunter books are the best in the DH collection. I have to warn you that the books are brutal and exhausting, but satisfying morsels that will have you sobbing out loud, shouting at the injustice and jumping up with joy. This is just my opinion, but I think "Styxx is an awesome book, and even better than "Acheron" ( I NEVER, EVER, though I'd favor another book in the series over "Acheron"). Who knew! Not me that's for sure! Please enjoy Styxx's book!

Who was your favorite character and why?

"Styxx" is a potent and captivating story; that will make your heart sympathize for a character that's always been portrayed through out the series as a villain. Acheron twin is characterized as a selfish, spoiled, and arrogant Prince Styxx of Didymos. However, he wasn't any of these deplorable characteristics. He was a Prince, who hide in the shadows with his bleeding heart in his hands; suffered in silence when all he wanted was someone to love him. He sacrificed his heart, body and soul for all the people in his family and kingdom; never asking for anything in return. He never thought he was worthy for anyone's love, affection, or respect. He did have his teacher, and his true love, but one by one, they were taken away from him because of a jealous, evil, Greek god. All because he refuse to cower or grovel, and challenged anyone to try and take his dignity. BIG mistake because these bastards tortured, raped, used, abused and broke his body and his spirit. Yet, this mighty Prince stood proud and tall. With tremendous odd against him, Styxx learned to never give an inch, never back down, and never show how badly wounded, battered, and torn his soul had become with all the abuse. He bled for, sacrificed and loved his twin, Acheron, who I seriously want to bitch slap; even though, Acheron is my beloved hero in the Dark Hunter series. Yet, Acheron scorned him, and covet Styxx's crown. He refused to see Styxx as the champion. He murdered for his sister, Ryssa, Princess of Didymos, who jealously tore at his tender heart every time she screamed her insults at him. Crap, I thought she was a sweet woman! Yes, she was affectionate with Acheron, but with Styxx she was a bitch from hell. I itch to deliver her to Hades; all the while kicking her posterior all the way! Grrrr....OH! Let me not forget his idiot father, who treated Styxx like his personal whipping boy. He delivered his "precious son" to priests, who torment him for months, all because he foolishly displayed his twin qualities. When Archon was brutalized, Styxx would feel the punishment too. Also, he sent Styxx on a trip with a band of men who raped and tortured him for 9 days!! (Oh lord, this chapter had me crying and I had to put the book down for an hour. I just kept chanting....Just Breath...) Then, he send Styxx, as a boy, into war with an army that hated him. Yet, Styxx prevailed, leading his soldier all the way to the enemy's sacred city Atlantis; becoming the greatest General that Greece has ever known. Ha! All I could think was "suck it" you jealous, greasy, traitorous pig of a father! He was extremely charming to "his" people that showed him kindness. For those who offended him, he struck with his sense of humor; he wore as a cloak to reflect all the vile comments and delivers his own barbs with such wicked sarcasm. I laughed loudly and clapped my hands for him. His charisma- strength of character, magnetism and presence is delightful and endearing.

What about Fred Berman’s performance did you like?

Definitely loved, loved, loved Fred Berman. I just wish he would have slow down in the climatic parts of the story. However, I did feel his emotional response to the book with his voice and speed of his words.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I finished the book in 2 days! I couldn't stop thinking about the book or wanting to pausing the audible book. The story is difficult to listen to all the sexual abuse, but I love the dark hunter series. I just wish there was more passages of the characters in DH series. Yet, it's good to finally know and understand Styxx's story and his importance in the DH series.

Any additional comments?

Amazing book!Sherrilyn Kenyon is an extraordinary story teller. My emotions are scrambled, and I feel a bit tipsy after reading "Styxx".There are parallel chapters to "Acheron" book, but in a different POV. Wow!! In Styxx POV, he delivers in his promise to be an effective protagonist.

Love it

I love this book. Acheron and Styxx were the two first books I read in the Dark-Hunter series. I know, way out of order. But still. I’m happy that they both finally got their happily ever after.
