Publisher's summary

The most highly-anticipated novel in the Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series since Acheron is here—the unforgettable story of Styxx, Acheron's twin brother and one of the most powerful beings on earth

Just when you thought doomsday was over . . .

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn't always been on his brother's side. They've spent more centuries going at each other's throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he's willing to trade his life and future for Acheron's.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.

She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it's hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

Three sides to every story.

This is a mixed review about Styxx, while I loved his story I also hated it. I loved how Sherrilyn Kenyon is able to turn our opinion around and make us love Styxx, but I agree with many reviewers that the abuse could have been toned down, which was the part I hated. This is also my opinion with Acheron's book. Both books are redeeming at the end and if I was to listen to them again I would start with the present day segments and not the past where there is soooooo much heartache. With that said I am glad to know both Acheron and Styxx. I am a character reader and once I love that character they are like family to me. I didn't like Ryssa in Acheron book, now after Styxx's book I loathe her. Of course Simi is my favorite and I always have a bottle of bbq sauce ready for when she visits. I will admit that the overwhelming amount of gods and goddess from all the pantheons make me a bit confused on who is who so I try not to dwell too much on them and focus on the main characters. Make sure you have tissue handy especially when Ash realizes what Styxx went through, and it would be best to be alone.

Styxx

My goodness, and I thought Acheron had it bad (I mean, he certainly did)... but sh**... this kid had it worse than his brother did. I didn't cry when I listened to Acheron and believe me my heart went out to him but Styxx, gosh the poor man... I cried in so many count for him and his life sentence.

Styxx is my favorite book

I have listened to this book more than once and finally decided to buy it myself because of how much I love it.

After about the tenth time listening to it within six months, it is as amazing as ever and I love the way the reader portrays the characters.

I loved using Audible to listen because it didn't drain my data and the sound quality was absolutely amazing. The app is easy to use and I could literally listen to this book anywhere I pleased without a worry.

I didn't really dislike anything since this is my favorite book, the recording was next to flawless and the app didn't need any improvements. I loved how it gave me listening options such as to skip ahead or go back, the listening time, chapters and to save certain areas as well.

A story from Ash's Twin's Perspective"

What did you love best about Styxx?

the humor, it had me in giggling fits on public transit, and yes there were people gawking at me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

hard to say, Ash, Styxx, or perhaps Simi

Which scene was your favorite?

do I have to pick just one?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

pretty much the whole book included commentary from the listener "Self" in bouts of laughing, sadness, agitation, and rooting for the underdog(s)!

Any additional comments?

a must devour book, but listen to the series in order they are meant to synchronize and since it is a pretty big series they blend together better that way.

Enthralling!

Absolutely amazing story! I couldn't stop listening! it tells the side of Styx beautifully! I actually found myself feeling more sorry for Styx than Archeron.

Devastating Story about making assumptions.

WOW . I love the Dark Hunter series and have listened to each of the books too many times to count. So I felt I had a pretty good grasp on all of the characters. The story of Styxx is so devastating that I was depressed. It shook me and made me absolutely nauseated about the damage of making assumptions concerning other people’s reality. I had to turn off the audio-book calm down and reflect on my own life and the relationships I have with those people in my life. I know these are just fictional characters in a story but I was so shook up by the view point I had towards Styxx verses what his reality actually was that I cried and cringed through the whole thing. Sherrilyn Kenyon did a wonderful job at showing us that there can truly be three sides to every story …..Yours …….theirs…. and …..the truth which lies somewhere in between. I think she did a wonderful job at creating a story with a moral theme we can take away with us in our everyday lives. To rephrase a quote by Urian …”Good job sister…..good job!

Great story, but over the top.

Great, interesting story, but the author went on and on way past the need to make her point. The graphic nature of the story is important, but the author dragged it on way past necessity. It didn't add anything to the story and instead got boring after awhile.

It was still a great story and highly recommended. You just need to stick with it.

One of the best of Dark Hunter series!

If you could sum up Styxx in three words, what would they be?

SENSITIVE guy who can't get a break. It is a miracle he does not have a psychotic break. Styxx ENDURING much heartache and still endures. He is STOIC in his refusal to share his abuse and/or loss.

What other book might you compare Styxx to and why?

The other side of Asheron. If you have read Asheron, this book will be familiar and surprise you at the same time. The format is the same, going from 900's B.C. to modern day.

Which character – as performed by Fred Berman – was your favorite?

Bethany's Egyptian family. They are always looking to start a fight and/or remove body parts. And they love Bethany to distraction.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Who knew?

Any additional comments?

This is one of the best Dark Hunter books by far. It was eye-opening to see Styxx's side of the story, which happens to be even worse than Asheron's. It's great that Styxx uses humor and sarcasm to get through tough situations.
