Billionaire Logan Hawkings needs a vacation. He's had a rough time after the death of his father and the betrayal of his fiancée. But with a visit to a recent business acquisition - a private island resort in the Bahamas - he has a chance to mend his broken heart. When a hurricane blows in, a misplaced passport and a stalled elevator bring Logan together with an unusual woman named Bronte. She's unlike anyone he's ever met - down to earth, incredibly sensual, and even quotes Plato. She also has no clue that he's rich...
Bronte Dawson, a waitress from the Midwest, is stranded with the hotel's domineering yet sexy manager Logan. What's the harm in a little fling when it's just the two of them, alone in paradise? But after several steamy island nights in Logan's arms, Bronte's ready to give her heart-and her body-to the man in charge. But she soon discovers there's more to Logan than he's told her...a billion times more. Now, Bronte's caught in a whirlwind affair with one of the world's most powerful men. But can their love endure their differences or will it all just blow over?

I can find a book to love in any genre -- a beautifully written classic, an interesting mystery or sci-fi, a trashy romance. Bring it!
STORY (contemporary romance) - I love contemporary romances, and this one seemed like it would be really cute. Bronte gets stuck in an elevator in an island resort during a hurricane and meets Logan, who keeps the fact he's a billionaire a secret. They begin a relationship in the elevator, on the island, and later in New York. Logan is powerful and used to getting his way He also thinks that every woman is only after him for his money. Bronte is honest and sweet and just wants a normal relationship with the man she's come to love.
I know this is a romance and things get steamy, but IMHO this story is all about sex with just a weak story holding it together. The writing is pretty amateur, and there is a lot of stupidity going on...situations, characters' reactions. It's a wonder my eyes aren't stuck in a rolled-up position. I know I'm in the minority here, but the only thing I liked about this book was the way Logan changed for Bronte, which was very sweet. After about the first 30 minutes, I turned the listening speed up to 2X and later to 3X to just get it over with.
PERFORMANCE - This reader has a young, husky voice and does an okay job, but IMHO there is no excuse for reading a romance without at least attempting to differentiate between the voices of the two main characters.
OVERALL - I can't say that I recommend this book, but I'm in the minority as it's rated a 4.0. There is no violence, but there is a lot of sexual language. There is also lots and lots of explicit sex, which got boring to this listener after a while. This is Book 1 of the series and the story stands alone. I definitely won't be listening to any more.
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
A very nice Contemporary love story about Logan an arrogant, handsome, cold and cynical Billionaire who gets stranded on his Desert Island with lovely Bronte a sweet, kind, caring Waitress who's got no idea just who he is and he wants to keep it that way. Bronte's often quoting famous Philosopher's sayings which Logan first finds annoying but eventually they make him smile so that, and her nervous giggles together with the warmth of her personality, soon starts to thaw his heart. This, and their sexual attraction, quickly heats up the air between them and passion soon ignites. However, when they're rescued things start to go wrong, then right, then wrong again and it's not until every truth is bared do they finally get their HEA.
A simple, sweet, light listen that has passion, humor, a chocolate box selection of interesting sweet tasty and sour secondary characters there's caring tender sex scenes and romance too as one Billionaire is taught that not everything can be bought..... but he gives it a damn good try anyway.
Worth a credit? This was a very enjoyable start to a new series about a secret Brotherhood of six wealthy and successful men - so one down and five to follow - with the next one being Hunter's story he's a scarred recluse and I'm eagerly looking forward to it. So, if you're in the mood for an implausible yet touching escape then look no further.... and YES definitely worth the credit.
Yes I got this book on sale for 4.99 and it was enjoyable enough. A billionaire who falls for a hard to get waitress. Obviously predictable story and characters were likable enough but the story was so much of a cliche that I lost a bit of my enthusiasm as I read further. Although it was not a story that drew me in and kept me glued, I did enjoy reading it nevertheless.
A different narrator.
It was the same voice for every character in the book. It is difficult to listen to the book and enjoy it when everyone has the same voice. Different characters should have a different voice. Very disappointed!
I travel a lot so I listen to many books.
There was nothing about this book that was a surprise! This was an extremely predictable book!
this is a love story that I would definitely recommend to many of my friends it took my breath away made my heart clench made me want to live the life that she was living beautiful simply beautiful
this book kept me wanting just 5 more minutes great store good ups and downs. I purchased because it was on special and glad I did would listen to another book by this author
I found it really hard to get past the narrator . . . she has an odd way of stressing/exaggerating the last word of EVERY sentence. It gets very annoying.
