During the rule of her murderous Dark Fae uncle, Thistle "Tricks" Periwinkle found sanctuary among the Wyr in New York. Her ethereal beauty and sparkling personality won the hearts of the public, but after her uncle's death, there are those who don't want to see her ascend to the throne.
Able to wield thunder and lightning, Wyr sentinel Tiago Black Eagle has ruled the skies for centuries. His massive build and thunderous power make him one of the Wyr's best weapons. And he's sent to protect Tricks when she's almost assassinated in Chicago. Soon, both Tiago and Tricks will fall prey to the stormy hunger that engulfs them - a passion that will shake the very foundation of all the worlds.

"The mix of supernatural creatures makes for interesting world-building, politics, and relationships." (Publishers Weekly)
Suppose I am just providing feedback from a fan rather than reviewing... I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the narrator performance. I hope there are many more books in the series and that all the characters reappear from time to time in subsequent books. That all relationships and lives, progress and friendships either stay in tact (re-unite) in some way shape or form. In other words I hope Minian and Tiago re-appear (loved their story, passion), Ruin and Carling, Dragos and sentinals continue relationship even though evolving (there is a hint of it in Lords Fall).
Guess I agree with other review that this story might have had a little slower build up, so did the Serpant's Kiss and Oracles Moon, the joining of Dragos and Pia in the first book happened much earlier in the story (and more frequently than other books in series). Also, would like to see Minian and Tiago (maybe even the other characters in subsequent books) have opportunity for marriage and family too (though I guess it is a bit old fashioned of me).
Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed the story/book/series.
Sophie Eastlake does an outstanding job of narrating!
The scene in the bar, and the hotel scenes.
Sorry, I am not really answering the question but would like to say...
If this and/or other books are ever made into a film I hope there is alot of attention paid to select actors who look like the characters described in the book. And that all the key scenes are included. I have seen a number of films recently where I think this was not done and I was very disappointed.
This is definitely not a cerebral endeavor, instead it is a bit of fantasy that keeps you laughing and wanting more. Every woman's fantasy is to be protected though I doubt I would be able to withstand Tiago's style. The book was fun, fun, fun and a great way to escape the realities of life. Loved it!
There were so many but I was touched by the toughness of Tricks and the gentleness of Tiago.
The author did a great job of capturing her characters. The language and the humor was perfect.
Nothing she was great!
Read this book, it is so much fun and personally I feel it is well written.
I really enjoyed exploring more of the world that the author has developed in this series. Plus.. Steamy sexy warrior shape shifters are always fun!
There are several points in the book where the quips the main characters make made me laugh out loud. My Husband looked at me like I was nuts!
She brings each character to life
When tiago realizes the love he has for ninian.
Avid Reader when not teaching, being a Mommy, or gamer. Loves just about anything!
The narrator's performance helped me to love Tiago moreso than when I read the book.
Tiago, gotta love a Warlord Mother Hen!
Ms. Eastlake does an outstanding performance narrating!
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
Very good second book. Thunderbird is bad to the bone!!! I love how the thunderbird stayed true to his thunderbird ways all the way to the end.
I have to say, the whole Dark Fae was a bit confusing in the end however. Too much backstabbing going on.
The love story between Thunderbird Tanigo and Fairy was sooo good. I could tell from book one these two would get together. Loved how when Fairy went missing, Tanigo went insane a bit... but he didn't even realize he was in love with her... This book was good at bringing these two together, but the Dark Fae people messed it up. U could never tell who was actually on Fairy's side in the end with the Dark Fae. I didn't like that.
Narrator did a very good job. I loved how Tanigo voice was not all tough and deep and rough. He a freakin Thunderbird, so you would think narrator would try to make his voice all deep and stuff. It was perfect! Just a regular guys voice... I can't believe a female narrator the men voices... I couldn’t even tell it was a female... Sooo good. Worth your free credit.
I was excited to read Tricks and Tiago's story; I couldn't wait to see how their story turned out
Loved the heroine, Tricks!
She's a good narrator, but more variety with the male characters would have been nice
I'm not good at expressing my feelings! This book has captured my thoughts and taken me to a world that I could thrive in!
The storm King, he took what he wanted and stood by his word!
It's a great sequel to the last book
To many to choose just one
She done a great job with all the characters.
I truly enjoyed the book from beginning to end.
This really is a great listen and is becoming a favorite series for me
I love T-Bird and how Ninian handles him. She understands him completely and knows exactly how to respond. I think Storm's Heart was a little slower paced than the first book, Dragon Bound, but it was worth the wait and I understand how the story will lead to book 3. Good tragedy, mystery and revenge. Ninian and Tiago's banter had me laughing the whole time. And the feather?!?! Hilarious!! It was so easy to picture! Again, Sophie did an oustanding job on animating the characters. Thanks Thea!
