    "A Wonderful Story"

Sam and her young son leaves So. America to live on a ranch that her uncle left her. Wyatt lives on a nearby ranch had hopes of purchasing Ezra's ranch and was aghast when he found out a single woman with a young child was going to raise minature horses there. Later she takes on the town troublesome twins and let them live with her on the ranch. Of course there are problems with the twins and with some of the children at school. There are a series of accidents, with fingers pointing at the twins of course.
Give this book a read you won't regret it.

Natalie Ross is a wonderful narrator, she brings her books to life, you are able to distinguish all of her characters they are done so well.

    "A Heart Warming Story"

A well written heartwarming story you don't want to miss. It's a story most people should be able to relate to. The characters are so well portrayed by Natalie Ross, they seem real.

    I would definately recommend it.

"A Family Story with a hint of Romance!"
What did you love best about Starry Montana Sky?

This is a wonderfully grand story about a family coming together. I loved the premise of Samantha being able to live out her dreams after being held captive for so long. Her naivete and kindheartedness towards the children just won you over. I found Wyatt to be a strong leading man faults and all. In addition, I just loved those fallabella horses they almost stole the show!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack was my favorite character, I found that I loved how honest and protective he was as well as how he progressed through out the book to be more and more trusting of those around him. He also had such wonderful interactions with the different animals.

Have you listened to any of Natalie Ross’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I found Natalie Ross' performance excellent. I found her to be better than in the previous book of the series. She has this wonderful way of creating voices and accents that are so appropriate for the different characters. I think her voices helped me fall in love with Jack and Daniel even more than if I had just read the book. I just loved how she pronounced the names of the horses with so much love!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The most touching moment for me in the book was when Jack saved Sarah. Though I knew something terrible was going to happened I just found that he reaction and fierce protectiveness really made my heart go out to him.

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book and love all the family dynamics and interactions. I found that important the values such trust, honesty and hard work were well presented and discussed. What a joy to listen to!

"An Expansive Story You'll be Glad you Stepped Into"

Starry Montana Sky, the 2nd book in the series, is even more gripping than the first. But still do yourself a favor and first read or listen to Wild Montana Sky, as all of those characters are brought forward to Starry, which then includes new ones who become this story's focus. And there's lots of story to focus on, one I enjoyed even more than Wild, which says a lot. Author Debra Holland brings you into the minds of the men, women and children as they are all striving to be more than what they were yesterday. There's excitement and more than a few portions of suspenseful action. And of course, romance and camaraderie. But nothing simplistic here, Debra's descriptions and dialog flow beautifully, without being grandiose. Natalie Ross is back again as narrator, and her array of voices suits each character to a T. Once you start, you'll be hooked.

    Story
    "Starry Montana Sky"
Where does Starry Montana Sky rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is definitely in my top 5!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the time period. I loved that Samantha was a strong woman. She did want she needed to to survive after the death of her husband for herself and her son. I loved how she didn't let anything or anybody get in the way of her love and loyalty for "her boys". She was patient with the 3 boys until they finally felt her love and the security of her home.I loved Wyatt's character and how protective he was of his daughter, how even though he didn't agree with Samantha's decision to open her home up to the orphan boys he still helped her every step of the way.

What does Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hearing the different nuances of the voices she gives to each character in the story. It makes the people in the story more memorable to me as each person's personality seems real than if I just read the book and hear their voices in my head.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I got all teary eyed when Jack realized he loved Samantha and considered her his mom and he finally felt love and the feeling of being secure in Samantha's home.I loved when Wyatt asked Samantha to marry him so he could be a husband to her and a father to her "boys".

    Any additional comments?

I always love reading this series by Debra Holland. They are familiar characters and I love finding out which couple falls in love next and the journey it takes to get them to that point.

    "I love this series!"

This is so much that I enjoyed about this book. Samantha moves to Sweetwater Springs after her uncle passes away and he leaves is ranch to her. Samantha has been living with her father-in-law since her husband passed away. I love how strong Samantha is to fix up her uncle's ranch, raise her son, and adopt other children.

Wyatt has been raising his daughter since his wife died. You can tell how much he cares about his daughter and how much he still misses his wife. If you read Mail Order Brides of the West: Lina, you will get to meet Wyatt's wife. She is only a small part of the story, but it does give you more background on Wyatt.

I have enjoyed this series. I have read everyone on audible. I like hearing the story. It makes me feel like I'm a part of the town. I'm looking forward to more stories about Sweetwater Springs.

"Loved This Story Centered On Family"
Would you consider the audio edition of Starry Montana Sky to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version yet.

What other book might you compare Starry Montana Sky to and why?

For subject matter, it is most easily compared to 'Wild Montana Sky' by the same author. In this book listeners are introduced to the town of Sweetwater Springs, Montana and many of the main characters of the town. In 'Starry Montana Sky' we meet new characters in the town, with supporting roles by the original characters.

More and more I'm coming to appreciate the author's style of writing because she doesn't use a lot of what I call "fluff" or disinteresting sub-plots. Her descriptions are very easy to visualize, and her scenes are full of action and dialogue. I like that she does not rely so much on what the characters are thinking (although there is some of that), but instead listeners learn about them through their spoken interactions. That's part of what makes this such a great book for audio - so many voices and a real challenge for the narrator.

Have you listened to any of Natalie Ross’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the second performance of Ms. Ross that I've listened to, and it was as good as the first - maybe even a little better. Several of the characters in this book spoke English with a Spanish accent and Ms. Ross did a superb job of easily switching back and forth between the Spanish and American accents. She is quite talented and her voice is very pleasing to listen to.

I especially loved to hear her reading of Jack's character. He was so sullen at first, and resentful of the events of his life, but he warmed as he became more trusting of Samantha.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were quite a few moments, yes, but the two that got me were centered around the children. First, Wyatt's daughter was discovered missing, and his agony during the search and after she was found had me holding my breath. He'd already lost his wife, so his fear of losing his daughter was heartbreaking!

The second was the town meeting where Samantha defended her boys against criminal charges. She was so strong through the whole ordeal even while listening to some very cruel and undeserved accusations aimed at the boys she was adopting!

    Any additional comments?

I really loved the character of Jack, one of the twin boys that Samantha was adopting. The two boys had seen such tragedy in their lives, it would have been easy for them to act as the townspeople expected, but they didn't. They were good boys at heart who needed the love and trust of a good family and they found that with Samantha. Jack was the outspoken one of the two, and I enjoyed watching him taken on responsibility and show his true character. I really hope he has his own story in one of the future books in this series.

This is a *clean* series which makes it suitable for most anyone to read. It has taken me a bit of time to get used to this, but it has certainly not detracted from the story in any way. In fact, it is quite refreshing to read about characters who consider the personality traits of the person they are considering marrying and not just physical appearance.

*I was given a copy of the audiobook by the author for an honest review.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would absolutely recommend this book to a friend. It kept me interested throughout and I wanted to know what happened next.

Which character – as performed by Natalie Ross – was your favorite?

I really enjoyed Jack's insights in this book. He goes from insecure boy to confident and loved. His thoghts, both as insecure and later his feelings for Christine and even Ben are maturing and responsible. I can't wait to see this boy grow the into a man.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I both laughed out loud and cried while reading this book in public! Especially when from the boys perspective.

    Any additional comments?

    Starry Montana Sky

Loved this book. So cute when the children started to play together and Jack realized and thought about his future. I laughed and cried on public transportation in Chicago. That's a book that captures you and assures author loyalty.
Written from multiple points of view Including Samantha, Wyatt and Jack.
Daniel promised the girl the moon and the stars. Wyatt made a note that women sometimes need to talk things out.
This author is definitely on the top of my tbr pile. And a secret? I don't even really like historical era books. These have enough personality to keep anyone coming back for more.

Elizabeth Rodriguez inherits a small ranch in Sweetwater. She and her son move from South America to raise miniature horses and take in boys in need.

Read it. A joy. You won't be disappointed.
