Publisher's summary

For Seattle detective Joanne Walker, spring is about new beginnings. She’s mastered her shamanic abilities (mostly), survived a cannibalistic serial killer (barely), and now she’s facing the biggest challenge of her career—attending a dance concert with her sexy boss, Captain Michael Morrison. But when the performance—billed as transformative—actually changes her into a coyote, she and Morrison have bigger things to deal with.

And there’s more. Homeless people are disappearing, a mystical murder puts Joanne way out of her jurisdiction and with the full moon coming on, it’s looking like the killer is a creature that can’t possibly exist. But Jo could probably handle all of that, if one ordinary homicide hadn’t pushed her to the very edge.…

Oh, my goddess, WONDERFUL!!!

What did you love best about Spirit Dances?

I have to admit, I have read the Walker Papers multiple times, and every time I do (which is every time a new one comes out, and then whenever I feel a need for an upper) I get more out of them, and enjoy them even more than the last time.

It is wholly admirable how Ms. Murphy has developed her characters through the series in a slow, methodical manner which allows you to grow to love them both individually, and as a group. I do have to disagree with the people who are wanting the

What was one of the most memorable moments of Spirit Dances?

The dancer troupe and the meaning behind what they do. I could almost see, before the terrible moments of the ending, how they flew through the air and danced, could almost hear the music in my head.

Have you listened to any of Gabra Zackman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, all the Walker Papers. She is always incredible. I don't read straight romance stories, I find them incredibly boring, and demeaning in that the woman is always some silly, spoiled, whiny, self-centred piece of work, waiting for some knight in shining armour to come along and

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The death of a member of the dance troupe. Someone giving, loving, and with that sort of freedom of spirit and unadulterated strength, being brought down through nothing but greed and pure evil. It was heartbreaking.

Any additional comments?

Start with Urban Shaman and read straight through. You won't regret it.

great addition to the series

I didn't know Seattle had an underground world, but apparently it does in real life. This book explores some of it, and Joanne finds a new friend. Morrison has some life altering experiences as well. I like the character development, and that each story grows from previous ones.

LOVED IT!

What about Gabra Zackman’s performance did you like?

Gabra Zackman is a great narrator. She really makes the characters come to life. I have to say I started this series in print and dropped them for the audio version.

Any additional comments?

LOVED IT! I picked up the series and went through it in a couple of weeks. I had a few issues when the series started but I was still drawn to this world. I loved the characters. I started this book and though there wasn't enough Gary time for me I was still sucked in and had a few real life distractions but today I finally got to finish and WHAT a way to end this book. I have a few favorites books, and Spirit Dances is on that list. SD is also on my favorite list of the best ending's. This is not the end of the series but, WOW I've been running the ending over and over in my head all day, and I can't wait for the next book, Raven Calls! Good thing The release date is a few weeks away.

What did you love best about Spirit Dances?

The narrator was great! I loved that even though I didn't read the other books in the series it didn't keep me from enjoying this one.

Any additional comments?

Someone in a review said that this book had chick lit porn in it.... It doesn't. Maybe two kisses with close on. FYI! :)

Transformational :)

In the latest installment of the Walker Papers, Seattle police detective and shaman Joanne Walker finds herself in the middle of transformational hijinks and murder. At this point in C.E. Murphy’s fantasy series, Joanne Walker is maturing and gaining much needed confidence in herself and her talents. But don’t worry her self-deprecating and hilarious internal monologue is still present and priceless. Morrison’s and Joanne’s relationship is still remarkably awkward but makes slight progress only to take a monumental step back. While I find the lack of romantic progress irritating, this is a wonderful series and Spirit Dances is a solid addition.
