Publisher's summary

Maximilian Oceanus arrives in Spellbound Falls just in time to save Olivia Baldwin from an overly aggressive suitor, only to find himself attracted to the beautiful, if rather aloof, widow. And although Mac has come to Inglenook to get a handle on fatherhood, his newly discovered six-year-old son has set his sights on finding his father a wife.

Olivia, however, is busy getting Inglenook ready for its new season, so she doesn't have time to deal with her growing attraction to the dangerously seductive Mac. Besides, weird stuff seems to happen all around him. Take the fact that her seat belt keeps getting stuck in his presence, or locks magically open for him without keys, and that he seems to have a talent for sensing things. Never mind the three lost albatrosses walking down the road in the middle of the night. Since when are there albatrosses in Maine?

But despite Olivia's resistance to falling under the sexy man's spell, Olivia is having trouble fighting her longing. Because she knows Mac is just the man to unlock the powerful passion deep within her. . . .

Critic reviews

"Henry and Olivia's daughter provides lots of humor and surprises in Chapman's well-paced, fun romance. Even the Highlanders make an appearance in what is sure to be a popular series, especially with fans of Barbara Bretton's Sugar Maple paranormal small-town romances." ( Booklist)

It was okay.

So, I thought this book was okay, but just okay. The general idea behind the storyline was a novel concept, but the actual story was predictable. There weren't really any curve balls thrown in there. And although the writing was mostly decent, Janet Chapman seems to have an obsession with the word "canted" and it actually started to get annoying.

Overall I thought Allyson Ryan did a good job, but it sort of sounded like she had a stuffy nose, which in turn made the adult male voices sound a bit dorky. On the other hand, her rendition of the children's voices was spot-on.

In conclusion I would not recommend spending a whole credit on this book. But, if you can get it on sale, like I did, it can make for an interesting addition to your audio library.

Spellbound Falls

I really liked the richness of the characters. The second half had surprises I couldn’t have imagined. Enjoyed this audible very much.

The sea meets Main

What made the experience of listening to Spellbound Falls the most enjoyable?

I love Janet Chapman books for their nice and slow pace, there are of course some up and down but you get to know the characters, and enjoy some of there pleasures. I do also like the fact that the love scenes are more about the people and less about the sex, nowadays some books are almost pornographic, and when I read I often skip those parts if it's too much or too often, sex may sell, but not always, there is a thing as too much info. I usually get into the world of the characters and there world if I can relate, and these books are reader friendly with just enough magic too make it fun.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Spellbound Falls?

The moment Olivia sees the real Max

Have you listened to any of Allyson Ryan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think I heard her before, but I'll keep an ear out, this reader I like.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Olivia made peace with Sam and Ezra

Any additional comments?

I would like more of these books please, there fun and comfortable to get in and relaxing to listen, at least if you like romance with a dash of fantasy.

If you like the Atlantis story try this one

The truth is I stumbled across the second book in the series and I was so mesmerized by the Atlantis theme worked into it I had to go to the first book to see where it all started. The tiny little problem for me in this first book was it took so long to get to Atlantis and I did loose some interest until I got to that part which is more than Midway into the book. The story has humor, romance, Greek gods,. fantasy, and cleverly written. I'm hoping the second book gets on audio soon because when I like something I need the book, audio and hopefully in this case the movie!

What a FallOut

Let me start by saying that Janet Chapman books are usually better than this one.It was not thought through well it seemed with the plot of the story,a few holes in the story leave it lacking.I would suggest too rather than listen to the horrible narrator Allyson Ryan who( unfortunately) made you"aware"of her narration through out the entire book,to swap the "Audible" book for a regular reading one, might be better. The narrator talked more like she was reading a book to a roomful of children than to read it like an adult book,no one talks like that unless you're auditioning for an Old Timey movie,it was hard getting through this book having to listen & try to be in the story.Would'nt recommend the Audible book at all.A good"narrator"makes the listeners forget they are narrating & can play the characters so well you feel like you are actually eaves dropping.
