Paranormal Highlander fantasy/romance. A+

I love the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning. Although it is Primarily a historical Romance based series it is all leading up to a fantasy fiction series (Fever) and this book is not historical other than the history of myth and legend. In this book the heavenly highlander is in our current timeframe and does not do any time traveling. It is still a love story altho it is by no means typical. Karen Marie Moning has written an amazing story that neatly crosses the boundaries into paranormal fantasy while still giving us the handsome highlander hero of a romance. I totally enjoyed this exceptionally enchanted story.

NARRATOR: Phil Gigante delivers a near flawless performance. I am occasionally distracted when a female characters voice briefly loses all femininity. Otherwise he is a joy to listen to with his warm sexy voice and romantic Scots brogue.

CREDIT WORTHY? YES!

HEAT FACTOR: Without being crude or leaning into erotica this is a very sexy book. Full steam!

A Forbidding Highlander

The 9th century Cian MacKeltar is given a second chance to end his long captivity and stop the evil Lucan once and for all. Such an opportunity is only possible with the assistance of Jessi St. James whom he discovers is his mate. Cian has notions on the roles of the sexes whilst Jessi is a modern gal. Some of their interactions are simply hysterical as traditions collide.

As is Moning's way, the story hooks us right from the start. Though it could stand alone, the second half of "Spell..." is far more complete having previously read "Kiss of the Highlander" and the "Dark Highlander" - Books 4 & 5 where Drusdan and Daegus return. These three Highlander books also provide some critical framework if one eventually graduates to Moning's popular Fever series. Phil Gigante narrates all the male characters exceptionally well... what a sexy voice!

Surprisingly awesome, fun read

I bought this book on sale but I did not have very high expectations. Frankly, if you take any one of the themes (highlander hottie, time travel, magic) this should be a cheesy, silly book-- somehow, though, the author makes it work amazingly well! It was a great listen--fast-paced, intriguing, funny and hot! The narrator was another surprise. At first I was kicking myself for not listening to the preview before buying the book as the narrator has a very deep and theatric voice. However, he turned out to be just right for the story, specially for the booming voice of the protagonist, and he interpreted the women characters well too. The book might be junk food, but it is the deliciously yummy type of junk food that is worth every calorie!!

This Could Be THE HOTTEST Highlander Yet!

Oh My! I don't know how she does it but her highlanders are getting hotter by the book. And this story in this narrator's voice is enough to melt the strongest woman.

Admittedly, it was a touch awkward to hear the women's thoughts in the voice of a man at times..... But after a few chapters you stop to notice. There story and characters are amazing and I highly recommend this to anyone!!!!! This was the first book I heard of in this series and I'm downloading he pervious 7 right now.

Excellent narrative style. Rowsing good tale. Makes you curious about the whole clan. Plenty of laughter interspersed with action and believably unbelievable characters / plot

Don't miss this audiobook! I have listened to all 7 of the books in the series and they keep getting better. Number 7 doesn't disappoint! KMM is a terrific author and Phil Gigganti is a fabulous narrator. Can't wait for number 8!
