The toast of the town.... All London is at Julia Wentworth’s feet — and anything she desires is hers for the asking. But the glamorous leading lady guards a shocking secret: a mystery husband whom she does not know, dares not mention... and cannot love.
For years Damon Savage has been searching for the stranger his parents wed him to without his consent, hoping to legally free himself from matrimony’s invisible chains. And he is astonished to discover his “bride” is none other than the exquisite lady he’d hoped to make his mistress! But though his wife by law, Julia will never truly be Damon’s — until he conquers her fears, his formidable rivals... and her proud, passionate, and independent heart.

This is one of my favorites from Kleypas. I enjoy the steady incline of the plot and the intricacies of each character, but my favorite is how she closes her novels. The epilogue leaves the reader with true closure and a warm heart. More than anything I enjoyed the narrator. Rosalyn Landor is by far the best. I don't know how she does it, but the male characters sound rough, masculine, and sensual, while the female characters are delicate and beautiful. This is a must read!!!
"Somewhere I'll Find You" is a well written story about an arranged marriage between a Duke's heir and an extremely wealthy family's daughter. Julia's father wants a titled husband for her, and the Duke needs money to cover his gambling debts, and restore the family finances. The catch--Damon is 7 years old and Julia is 4 years old when the marriage takes place.
Lord Damon and Lady Julia know they are married, but have never met since they were children. The arranged marriage ruined both their lives. Neither are free to marry another, have children, nor lead a normal life. Julia rebels and runs away to become an actress and Lord Damon searches for her for years without success, wanting to right the wrong committed by their parents when they were children. Having taken over the finances of the Dukedom, using the money received from Julia's father, Lord Damon makes wise investments and becomes one of the foremost wealthiest men. He wants to get an annulment, see that the "bride" money is returned to Julia, so they can get on with their lives.
Busy taking care of the family Damon has not had time for fun in his life, but one night he walks down to the village during May Day; an ancient public spring festival with dancing, singing. He sees a pretty girl and on impulse asks her to dance learning she is a actress in a little known theatre, but names are not exchanged. He kisses her and leaves, but doesn't forget her. Years later he meets her again, without recognition. She has changed her name and is a well known actress. The attraction is still there. At a party to raise funds for the theatre she meets Lord Damon, and recognizes the name as her husband, but he has no idea who she is.
It's a moving story that any lover of Historical Romance should find entertaining, I certainly did.
Rosalyn Landor gave a perfect performance. Kleypas and Landor are an unbeatable combination for our listening pleasure. Well worth a credit.
I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
A story by Lisa Kleypas and narrated by Rosalyn Landor is an automatic buy for me. All the stories are good, interesting and romantic. And a good story only gets better with a great narrator that adds so much emotion and depth to it. If you like historical romances you will enjoy this story about two people that were meant to be together despite time and distance...
I am a sucker with any stories involving a Duke and now add gentle, handsome, powerful, besotted and tall and I am hopelessly in love. You won’t go wrong with this book if you want plot twists and a passionate love story as is Lisa Kleypas’s signature.
Great story, interesting characters, believable passion, authentic conflicts, enjoyable narration! Well worth the purchase. I will be buying more from this author and narrator
I think I made a mistake in buying it. I prefer mysteries. However, I have truly liked some (not all) of Nora Roberts's work, so I thought why not try another romance, esp since I am getting this book at a promotional price. I didn't like the story, but that's not my main grudge. The leading man in this story is dominating, arrogant, opinionated, bullying, and inconsiderate. He spends all his time with a prostitute. Worse, it seemed to me that whenever he wished to settle an argument he reached for the heroine's breasts: all this became a little distasteful. Why is she in love with him? Wentworth's rise as an actress is written with almost no detail of stagecraft: one does not get the feeling of being with her. I don't think Lisa Kleypas is for me. She may appeal to romance fans, I suppose. The narrator was just incredible, however.
I just Love the Allure of a Great Romance...a Pair of Rose Colored Glasses...some Fine Wine, and a Subscription to Audible...
Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite Historical Romance Novelists, and when teamed with Rosalyn Landor - you can bet you will be listening to another winner.
Having said that, Somewhere I'll Find You is definitely worth the credit; although, it is far from my favorite LK novel.
The Hathaways, and Wallflower series, respectively are amazing, can't put down, loving every character, audios! If you haven't purchased these audios yet, you really must consider them.
Somewhere I'll Find You is good, but it took longer to gain my interest, and "investment" in each character. I knew though, that once I had given it a chance, it would be worth it, and that I would enjoy the journey.
In my opinion, if you have not been exposed to LK or RL yet, begin with The Wallflowers, and then The Hathaways. Put this novel in your wish list and revisit it later.
As most know who have been reading my book reviews over the years, Lisa Kleypas has always been a favorite author of mine, and I have to say with SOMEWHERE I’LL FIND YOU, it has eclipsed all my other top twenty favorites and lands pretty near to the top! Glamorous leading lady, Julia Wentworth is at the top of her game. The most celebrated actress in all of London and could have anything she desires. But the beautiful, talented lady is plagued with a shocking secret - a mysterious husband whom she does not know, has never met, and cannot possibly love.
For many years, Damon Savage has been searching for the stranger his parents wed him to without his consent. Damon wants nothing more than to free himself from the strangling bonds of matrimony so that he could get on with his life and pursue a real woman - not a shadow bride he’d never met. As it turned out, Damon finally did meet a woman whom he’d love to take as his mistress, only to finally discover that “she” was his “missing bride”. However, even though Julia was legally his by law, he would now have to woo her, win her trust, and battle rivals for her love and independent heart.
Not only does Ms. Kleypas write intelligent dialogs that let your mind imagine it is watching a movie, but she has one of the top narrators - Rosalyn Landor - performing brilliantly to bring all the players to life with her tried and true rendering of the many voices in the play. The combination of Ms. Kleypas creation and Ms. Landor’s performance made listening to the audio of SOMEWHERE I’LL FIND YOU even more special. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
The sensuality of the wooing of Julia by Damon was highly emotional, sweet and totally divine. The chosen words of love by author Kleypas was as exquisite as always and left this reviewer with that total ahhhhhhhh…. feeling as the narrator uttered the last word. As always a totally marvelous book.
I loved the characters, found the story very interesting, and despite having just listened to this a second time, I got totally absorbed in the story as soon as I began, and continued to enjoy it all the way through. I also absolutely love the narrator, Rosalyn Landor. In this book, as in all the others she has narrated, she gives each character a unique, expressive voice that brings them and their story alive.
I love Epic Fantasy....have become a Historical Romance fan because I am a sucker for a good Happily Ever After. Good characters are a must
I really enjoyed this book. Rosalyn Landor is always great! The characters are well developed and their interactions are wonderful. Damon is a typical "Regency Male" but he is immediately likable. Julia is a strong willed independent woman who dreads the thought of giving up the stage and her acting career for a man!
This book has good conflicts and great romance. And best of all...a super fulfilling epilogue!
Worth a credit.
