Publisher's summary

Parks and Recreation meets The Blue Collar Comedy Tour in this third book in Molly Harper's Bluegrass series of contemporary romances: A love triangle of colleagues heats up the winter lodge where they get snowed in for a week. Kentucky Tourism Commission employee and executive assistant extraordinaire Kelsey is known around the office for having everything under control. So it's not surprising that she and her boss, Sadie, have everything planned to the second for the office winter retreat. But there are things even Kelsey can't micromanage. An unprecedented snowstorm smothers half of Kentucky and knocks out the power, closes the roads, and generally shuts down the state. Luckily, the lodge has working fireplaces and enough food to keep the staff from turning on each other like something out of The Shining.

Kelsey wouldn't mind being stuck inside if it wasn't for the tension with her not-so-secret crush, Charlie, the office's statistician. But handsome Ranger Luke, the lodge's only employee on hand, is there to take Kelsey’s mind off her discomfort. Even though this weekend is supposed to be a planning session for KTC, Kelsey can’t help her mind from wandering and finds herself conflicted over Luke and Charlie. Someone's love will keep her warm, but whose will it be?

Bit disappointing

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The book was mildly entertaining. I love Ms Harper's stories but this was not one of her stronger ones.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Kelsey and her boyfriend have such a long history and he is such a good character that I this more could have been done with their breakup and less with the snow storm. I think there should have been more character development with Charles.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amanda Ronconi enhances the character's development with her readings that when just reading the book would lack.

Do you think Snow Falling on Bluegrass needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There was not enough " story " to the book to warrent a follow up

Slow

Amanda Ranconi's narration was fabulous as usual. The book is well written and the characters are very well described but it was just too long. It would be better received as a novella rather than a full length book. At least 40-50% consists of the main characters endless internal ruminations.

Uhm, ok...

I really love Molly Harper, and this book follows the formula of her previous books, but the setting just doesn't do it for me. How long can adults get stuck with each other without that many worries about family and other life responsibilities weighting down the fun? I felt it was a set up more appropriate for YA books.

Love it

This book made me laugh out loud, and say ‘aww’, and get annoyed. It’s a great cozy book that makes you just feel good. The other two books in the Bluegrass series are great too but I think Kelsies story is my favorite ❤️

The Story
I love the people of the KTC and want to work with them!!

This was quick read, but it was big on laughs. Molly Harper is one of the most consistent writers I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Her fun engaging plots, quirky charming characters, and entertaining storytelling is something that this author has down pat, and she does it so well.

I adored Kelsey from the first book, My Bluegrass Baby, and she was just as fun and witty here. I missed some of the characters and familiarity in the 2nd book, Rhythm and Bluegrass, but have no fear, that odd bunch is back and they added so much to Kelsey’s journey to love in Snow Falling on Bluegrass.

The story centers around a love/attraction triangle between Kelsey, Charlie, a sweet character we are familiar with from the first book, and Luke, a charming new character. When a snow and ice storm has the three of them, along with the employees from the Kentucky Tourism Commission trapped at the lodge where Luke has provided them with accommodations, things become a bit crazy. Kelsey doesn’t know which direction her heart should take, but everyone from that zany group has to have their say and they don’t hold back. They speak their mind and we are the beneficiaries of the laughs! Some of them employ tactics to help her decide and at the same time exact their own form of revenge.

One of the highlights of the read was seeing where Sadie and Josh are in their relationship, as well as Bonnie and Will! I wasn’t a big fan of the latter couple’s book, but I really enjoyed them here. The book’s overall appeal doesn’t just apply to a few characters and their romantic dilemmas, but all the characters, how they annoy each other, and at the same time look out for one another. Fun times all around!

Even though the right guy got the girl, my hope is that the other guy will get a story too! After being a little disappointed with the last book, I’m glad to say that Snow Falling on Bluegrass put this series back on track and has me yearning for it to go on!

The Narration
5 Big Stars for the brilliant Amanda Ronconi!

I can’t imagine anyone else giving a voice to this writer’s words! It’s a wonderful relationship between author and narrator, and an enjoyable experience for the listener. Molly Harper is the clever, capable author of Snow Falling on Bluegrass, but it almost feels like Amanda Ronconi may have had a hand in it somewhere along the line, even if it’s just her voice in the author’s head when she writes. I know this author stands on her own talent and I can’t take anything away from her amazing storytelling, but when Harper’s books are narrated by the gifted Ronconi, they take on new life and are even better!

For an avid audiobook listener like me, having this talented narrator’s voice in my ears is like hitting the listening jackpot!

If you’ve never plugged into an audiobook, but want to see what it’s about, give the Harper/Ronconi team a try. You won’t be disappointed!

The best yet. Please write more! Kentucky here I c

Kentucky here I come! I now have to visit all these sights mentioned in the series and I'm not even a history buff!
Loved that Kelsey, my favorite character got her chance!
What people will do in times of difficulty certainly makes for funny enjoyable reading. I love love love this series, and feel a loss of companionship that it's over. I know get a life.. I have found after listening to 4 books in a row. ( I have been laid up in bed) that I have picked up on Harpers snarkyness, which really wasn't hard to do. I find it charming. I hope you find this series as enjoyable as I have

Silly Story. Very good narration.

Not a lot of substance, and an extremely light read. The narrator and the humor in this audio book is what propelled me to finish it.
