Publisher's summary

When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City's local authorities what they're dealing with. Only it's worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain - paranormal style.

Anita heads to Vegas, where's she's joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It's a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses "tiger" too strongly to ignore it. The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher.

Love in vein: listen to more tales of Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter.

#1 Best Narrator, Pure disappointment In L.K.H.

First, Laurell K. Hamilton is a one of kind, incredible writer. Her ability to bring modern day America into all that is supernatural and make the meshing feel normal, and believable, like a "must see" police action drama/thriller, big screen movie or number one television series, shows much more than raw talent and imagination. Hamilton's first Nine (9) books in audio format are nothing short of amazing. Presently there are twenty (20) L.K.H. "Anita Blake,Vampire Hunter Series" installments.
I am a disabled Marine Veteran from the second year into our war with Iraq. Having lost an arm to the shoulder and most of one leg, it is pretty much impossible to read a regular book. My favorite, flirty nurse set me up with audible.com and the first "Anita Blake", L.K.H. audio book, "Guilty Pleasures".
Less than ten minutes into the book on my computer and it was like watching a great movie that lived up to all the hype. The Narrator, Kimberly Alexis, is nothing short of CREATIVE GENIUS. How does a person describe a symphony in mere words. Kimberly Alexis actually channels written words into living, breathing works of a Master Painter. The timing and cadence as she reads can bring up a soft breeze, filled with scents and sounds. Alexis changes voices with fluidity of quick silver or bending light. Every character's voice tells the listener all they need to know about their fictional lives, politics, religion, style and every subtle or overt mood. Kimberly Alexis does many different men, women and a host of monsters in all their confidence, foolish bravery, loyalty, friendship, love and their underlying needs, intentions, fears, hatred, bigotry and naked, human shame.
When the action comes, it hits hard and fast. Alexis turns that cool breeze into a firestorm! Her intensity ebbs and flows like the thrusts and parries of a bloody sword fight to the death. Makes me sweat, curse & worry.
Books #1- #9 are amazing. The next 11books are mainly bad XXX porn. L.K.H. ruins "Anita".

what happened?

Loved her earlier books. This just seemed like gratuitous sex with little plot. Officially done with the series

Where's Cynthia?!!!

I miss Cynthia Holloway!

This narrator sucks, her Jean Claude is HORRIBLE!!! Although the little bit if J.C. we did get, he was pissed and I liked that. Glad to know he cares. Please bring Cynthia back for the next one. I'm giving this one 3 stars because I enjoyed the change of scenery and the new men. I did not miss Anita's whining regulars(i.e. Requiem).

Love it!

Kimberly Alexis is amazing in her performance. This is one of my favorite Anita novels. The only negative is that it isn't the complete book. Parts have been left out.

Ancient Vampires, Djinn and Tigers

What do you do when a psychopathic vampire sends you a human head with a personal note? If you’re Anita Blake, you fly to Las Vegas and walk into his trap. Just be sure to also have your pack of US Marshals to back you up. And a talented band of Police Practitioners.
Anita faces both Vittorio and the Mother of Darkness and a matchmaking tiger Queen mama.
The Wicked Truth become food for the Ardeur, but Requiem and Anita say their farewell. That would have worked great for Anita until the MOT and Father of Day cause an Ardeur feeding frenzy with multiple colors of tiger. Yipes!
Love Kimberly Alexis’ voice. It has the the right level of maturity with female sexiness for our 28ish heroine.
This is definitely one of the top books in the series. Not for the sexually shy, but it’s not overdone in this one.
Recommend.

More classic Blake is this one

I was glad to get this audiobook - I believe Kimberly Alexis is a very good narrator and has a wider range in accents then other narrators of this series have. This is more Anita Blake bad ass we have come to love. Shes carrying her weapons and shes not afraid to use them. Its always a good thing when her other federal marshal friends come and join the party especially Edward (Ted).

Everytime I review one of these books I remind listeners that Anita Blake is the Human Servant of Master Vampire Jean Claude who obtains power from SEX and seduction. We long time listeners/readers may have started following this series with Anita as a vampire executioner and Necromancer. So we would still like to see more of that in the series. However we have to come to terms if you continue listening/reading this series that Anita is becoming less human and more preternatural. Shes considered a vampire who feeds off sex which is a lot better then some of the other powers Master Vampires have like feeding off fear, or those who create rotting vampires.

So I give this a good review and recommend you fast forward or skip the sex scene if they offend. And let LKH know we still like Anita fighting the monsters as much as possible.
