Publisher's summary

A proven series with a hot new look. The #1 best-selling author returns with her most anticipated novel yet.

When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City's local authorities what they're dealing with. Only it's worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain - paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where's she's joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It's a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses "tiger" too strongly to ignore it. The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher.

More like classic Anita...

This book felt more like Obsidian Butterfly and the older, what I think of as "classic Anita" books. There was actual action in it. There's some weird sex too, don't get me wrong, but at least there's some vampire hunting to go along with it. It was fun to have Edward and Bernardo back. I wouldn't call Olaf fun, but he's a great bad guy for sure. Not sure why Anita hasn't done something about him yet, but maybe we get that in a future book.

Not bad but not great.

I really enjoy this series, have for many years. Although I’m glad that Kimberly Alexis is back narrating, between Blood Noir and Skin Trade she hasn’t fell back into her voices quite yet. This particular book she has a sing song narrative which is the reason why I disliked Cynthia Halloway narrating previous books. All Alexis’s male voices except Jean-Claude’s and the Wicked Truth’s are so light and sing songy it’s annoying. I’m glad she gets back to herself in the next books. Anita’s narrative is to soft and sing songy too.

The only things that I really disliked in this book is that Cynric the young blue tiger is sixteen, regardless of legal age in Nevada LKH should have made him at-least nineteen. Regardless of all of them being mind f’ed, the series continues with a sexual relationship with a 17 yr old boy in high school. Just wrong. It would be like Anita having sex with Peter. Just bad.

Good story in some aspects bad in others.

The narrator had a really good flow.

I love Anita Blake. The narrator tells the story well. Even those spicy moments. Keep it up!

Anita in action

The Anita Blake series is very good. The whole idea that she can slay vamps is amazing. I love her strength and the men who love her. My best friend told me about this series and I found each book a wonderful read.

Excellent As Always!

Excellent as always! Ms. Hamilton’s characters are for me so real and so lovable. I love the concept of love being the strength that fulfills all others! Most, view love as a weakness, but we know the truth! Thank you for your creativity and ability to spin a tale of intrigue, sensuality and violence in just the right parts!

The best mix yet...

This book reminded me what I fell in love with about the series. This book is the perfect mix of the succubus and the vampire hunter. A great story with twists and turns and lots of characters.

Miss the old "prude" Anita, Love Kimberly Alexis

so I have read, really read and listened to all the Anita Blake books read by Kimberly Alexis. unfortunately, some of my favorites were done by a different narrator, and they were so horrible, I couldn't listen. for those of you who know this series well, you know that some of the last books before the stories are replaced mostly by smut, then you know why I begrudge the horrible narrating in books not done by Kimberly Alexis(who I love!) in the middle of the series, around books 10-15, give or take. I used to relate to Anita on so many levels, and loved the fantasy aspect, which I find would be my choice if her world were real, until she gets the Arduer and all the smutty complications that go with it. if she had just stayed her stubborn self, this series would have been so much better. I hope Laurell K. Hamilton realizes this, and gets back to her roots soon.
