Publisher's summary

Whether it's exhilarating historical romance or spine-tingling contemporary suspense, number one New York Times best-selling author Julie Garwood weaves magnificent stories of passion, adventure, and intrigue. Now she raises the heat and spices up the action with a sexy, smart, daring new heroine and a smoldering thriller that's classic Garwood - and pure sizzle.

Lyra Prescott, a Los Angeles film student, is closing in on graduation and facing important decisions about her future. She's already been offered a job at her hometown TV station, an opportunity that could ultimately launch her dream career as a film editor. But heading back home would also mean dealing with her overprotective brothers, social-climbing mother, and eccentric grandmother. Unsure of her future, Lyra dives into work on her final school assignment: A documentary transformed by a twist of fate into a real-life horror film.

After she unwittingly captures a shocking crime on camera, a rash of mysterious, treacherous incidents convince Lyra that she's trapped in a sinister scenario headed for a violent ending. Running scared, she turns to her best friend, Sidney Buchanan, whose connections bring dauntless and devilishly handsome FBI agent Sam Kincaid into Lyra's life.

As the noose of deadly intrigue tightens and the feelings between them deepen, Lyra and Sam must place their faith in each other's hands - and stand together against the malevolent forces about to break loose. No one mixes life-and-death suspense with feverish desire better than Julie Garwood. In Sizzle she burns hotter and brighter than ever, keeping the action and passion blazing till the incredible, unforgettable end.

Loved It

I thought this book was one of her best. The characters were well developed and the plot was interesting. Best of all, it was funny. As outrageous as some of the characters were, you still rooted for them and wished you could meet them in person.

NOT BAD, BUT I LIKE HER HISTORICAL ROMANCES!!

THIS WAS GOOD FOR A CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE, BUT I LIKE HER HISTORICAL ROMANCES. AND SPEAKING OF HISTORICAL ROMANCES, HER LATEST CLASSIC AUDIOBOOK IS "THE PRIZE" THAT WAS RELEASED IN MP3 FORMAT ON 12/27. HOW COME AUDIBLE IS NOT CARRYING IT? IF YOU ARE A FAN OF JULIE'S CLASSIC HISTORICAL ROMANCE NOVELS, PLEASE WRITE AUDIBLE AND ASK THEM TO PUT IT ON THEIR SYSTEM! FYI--GENTLE WARRIOR IS DUE OUT MARCH 27. HOPEFULLY AUDIBLE GETS THEIR ACT TOGETHER BY THEN.

More like fizzled...

This story was not bad, but it certainly didn't "sizzle." While not a typical, predictable romance, I still didn't' find the story or the characters engaging. The elements were there, but it failed to draw me in. At best, it was a mediocre story with snippets of humor. Your credit might be better spent elsewhere.

OMGOSH!! FUNNY READ AND GOOD LOVE STORY

If you could sum up Sizzle in three words, what would they be?

LAUGH OUT LOUD

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sizzle?

ALL THE ANTICS OF THE BUMBLING CROOK "MILO"

What about Susan Denaker’s performance did you like?

GREAT JOB WITH THE IRISH ACCENT

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I CAN DO THIS

Any additional comments?

DON'T LET THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS SCARE U AWAY, SIZZLE MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN THE BEST TITLE FOR THIS BOOK BUT THIS IS AN ABSULUTE MUST READ IF U LIKE JG. THIS ON ONE OF HER BEST CONTEMP/SUSPENSE NOVELS EVER. AND YES, MILO THE CROOK AND GRANDMA MIGHT HAVE STOLEN SOME OF THE SHOW BUT THE STORY LINE IS STILL GREAT. I'M STILL LAUGHING WHILE WRITING THIS REVIEW.

Another one out of the park

Well, she did it again.... just can't put it down, having to know more about the story. Keeping you on the edge of your seat... Can't wait for the next one to come out....

Sizzle lacks sizzle

While I did like Sizzle, it didn't live up to its title for me. My actual rating for this audiobook would be 2.5 stars. The only humor came from the bumbling antics of Milo (which eventually only engendered a smirk or an eyeroll) and Lyra's grandmother. And the connection between the two protagonist seemed superficial/weak. With Sam coming across as a much stronger character than uninteresting Lyra could ever be. I couldn't take Lyra as a smart adult woman seriously, let alone a seductress. Also, there was a time near the end where I fell into a big plot-hole, when Lyra's muted cell phone was supposed to provide the captured confession of a bad guy. Because a muted cell phone wouldn't catch anything from the person holding the cell phone- the point of the Mute button. But it was nice to see how the Kincaid line("The Bride" and "The Wedding") has progressed. So overall it came across as something that would have past the muster better in the early 90s. Where the young, beautiful heroine and handsome mature (older) man meet and fall in lust then love.

scripted

I used to really like Julie Garwood. However this book felt very predictable and scripted. Janet Evanovich and the Stephanie Plum novels are much better.

Fizzle

Don't bother. Lacks depth and character needed to make a book good.

Disappointing

Thought this would be a decent mystery but it's a fairly boring"romance" story with an implausible plot line.

That brogue 😍

I had already read this book and enjoyed the storyline before purchasing the audiobook. My review is of the narrator who did a wonderful job! I could probably listen to this book a few more times for the brogue alone 🤣 I will be looking for more books by Susan in the future.
