With an empty nest and divorce in hand, Rona decides it's time to explore the fantasies that nourished her through a long, tedious marriage to a man whose idea of outrageous sex was leaving the lights on. At the top of her fantasy list is touring Dark Haven, the BDSM club, but she isn't prepared for the effect of a powerful Dom. When Master Simon takes control and introduces her to toys and sensations she's never felt before, she realizes he could fulfil every fantasy on her list all by himself. But she's vowed to never get trapped in a relationship again.
One of the most popular Doms in Dark Haven, Master Simon has had his fill of eager, shallow, young subs. Rona is older, intelligent, independent, and sweetly submissive. After an evening of intense pleasure and despite her obvious attraction, she refuses to see him again. He needs a way to change her mind. She's not the first sub he's taken on a journey of exploration, but he's beginning to think she might be the last.

This book is incredibly hot!!! Couple the authors incredible ability to write bdsm scenes well with the sound of wen reading the scenes and Kai capturing the stubbornness of Rone and you have a molten experience waiting for you!!!!
This is a short novella for the author and it is not from the Shadowlands series. It is from the Mountain Masters and Dark Haven series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had, as usual, read the book before I listened to the audio. I thought Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott did a great job with story and look forward to more in this series acted by these two voice actors.
Yes and No. Yes because I can listen to it while I am driving when I can't read and No because I have always loved books and I will always love books first.
I can't and won't just pick one and I won't name any and spoil it for anyone else.
I loved hearing from Simon instead of just hearing him in my head.
I think I actually did just listen to this straight through with nothing else getting in the way. Cherise is just that awesome of a writer and Kai and Wen are just that good at narrating.
This is a story I've previously read and loved. This story is so touching and so true about life after divorce (at least for me) that it's hard not to fall into it. Listening to this story dded an entire new level to it. The lovely beauty of the words read to you by the masterful artists Kai and Wen take the story from black and white to full technicolor. I love hearing all the different Dom stories from Cherise read by Kai and Wen I can't wait to hear more.
I read this as an ebook years ago and loved it then, but the audiobook is even better. The narration of Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross made the characters come alive. They used a different inflection and voice for each character in the book, and they're excellent actors.
This is the story of an older couple discovering each other as Rona discovers BDSM. It has my favorite safe word ever in it, one that made me laugh out loud. I fell in love with both characters. Rona is capable, sassy, and funny but needs to learn to trust again. Simon is simply delicious. My only criticism is that I wish the author had made them a little older. I think the story would have read better if they were in their 40s rather than 30s (especially Rona). I don't really consider a woman in her 30s to be that old, plus she had two grown children.
I hope to see more of these two characters in future books.
Where to start. First the story is amazing Cherise did an amazing job and it was beautiful and amazing and the final scene was just heart breaking was the its intensity.
Now here's the scary part of read this book already loves the story but listening to it wow the intensity went up ten fold Wen and Kai had such perfect voices and made everything so vivid it worked perfectly and heightened the story completely. I will be listening to more.
N.Y. Times Bestselling Author
Absolutely! It was hot and wonderfully written.
Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are amazing storytellers. They always manage to suck you in from the beginning to the very end no matter what book they're narrating.
This was the first book I have listened to by this author, but it certainly won't be the last. Even though this was a short book it kept my attention and still had enough detail so I didn't feel like I was missing something. I can't wait to listen another book by Cherise Sinclair.
I would definitely do another Cherise Sinclair book and something by Kai Kennicott. Had issues with Wen Ross' performance however. Was surprised it went past the producer of this audiobook. His performance lacked any enthusiasm or was very bland. He also sounded nothing like I imagined Simon to sound from reading his story originally. Of course that's my personal thing.
I actually developed a new appreciation for Rona after reading this book. She seems very independent and compassionate.
Kai Kennicott did a great job differentiating the characters. I had no problem telling the difference based on her using her different accents and inflections. She was great.
Wen Ross needs some work. I had no idea which man was speaking half the time because I couldn't tell the difference.
Yes, mostly because it's a great story.
Chapter breaks moved too fast. Needs to be more of a pause.
I would. Over all a good audio book.
I liked that it was about a mature woman. Not one of those 18-22 year olds that are so common now a days.
The male narrator should have been replaced. I hated his voice, especially when he voiced Simon. When he was reading the in between parts he was ok. He had a distinctive "Simon Legree" "Dick Dastardly" tone to his voice that really got on my nerves. Female narrator was very good.
Simon says: "Are you Ready?"
It was a good listen that could have been great with the right male narrator. (Where was Noah?). Still worth listening too. In all fairness, some people really liked the guy. You either loved him or hated him. Sadly, I'm in the later group.
Loved Simmons story and the voice of Rona sounded exactly as I would have pictured her sounding.
great story just to short because I love me some Cherise sinclair books!
This was pleasant and solid and enjoyable, but just felt slight, as though there wasn't much to it beyond some steamy sex and a little mild relationship drama. It's hot writing as you would expect from Cherise Sinclair, but because of the novella length, lacked the deep "out of the bedroom" relationship stuff, which always adds to the erotic level.
I recommend this book to fans of Cherise Sinclair.
