NOTE: This review will contain spoilers if you haven't read up to book 4 in the series. Also Shift for me (and Alpha to) can be broken down into what I Loved and what I Didn't Like---there really was no in-between for me.

What I Loved: Things are getting hot in here! Seriously the action, pacing, and kick *ssness have been turned up a notch. We have spent the last 4 books getting to know all these beloved characters and this book just pulled the rug out from under us. I was a sobbing mess in a couple of different areas. I seriously was holding on for dear life during all the interactions with the Thunderbirds. Every emotion that a person can feel was brilliantly displayed in Shift and I couldn't quit listening!

What I Did Not Like: I can't stand triangles. They usually just don't do anything for me. In this case, I think it was an unnecessary level of drama. Plus, when Faythe was dealing with either Marc or Jace she reminded me too much of the character she was in book 1 (which I did not like at all). Overall, it was only a little bit of a distraction in Shift but a whole different story for Alpha.

yes, it was smartly written and well narrated. this book had it all, good story, plot twist and it made me excited for the next book in the series.

What did you like best about this story?

this was the 1st book in the series and I was hooked. I'm new to the supernatural genre and this was a good introduction. I like the strong female characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes and I pretty much did. I finished the book in a day and a half

Fun story

The story was okay a little far fetched at times with the thunderbirds. Jennifer Van Dyck lacks in her character differences. Some times I could not tell who was talking as there was no variation in her speech. It was a nice story while I await the 12th Sookie Stackhouse novel. I think I will get book 5 just to see how the story ends. By the way, I too am rooting for Jayce!

Thrilling action packed book.

This book is action packed and has introduced me to a new shifter. I was hooked on this roller coaster ride from chapter one it had thrills, chills, action, shifters, mystery and intrigue. I can't wait to read and hear more from this author.

This is possibly the best shifter series to date.

No series is perfect but this is the closest I have read. Amazing character arcs, action, and dramatic moments that will literally have you holding your breath.

Vincent's done it again!

I've been hooked on this series from the start and Shift is just one more reason to love it. The characters are smart, the dialogue is sharp and Jennifer Van Dyck is one of my favorite narrators.

Mine does have a dead spot in it. About 4 minutes of silence. Having read the series from the beginning, I don't feel like I missed much, but for someone picking up this one as the first one, it might be something important. I didn't see mention of this in any other review, so it was probably an isolated incident.

I'm looking forward to her next (and I hear her last in this series) Alpha.

I absolutely LOVE this series!!! It is definately worth the credit! Rachel has created a world that you get immediately sucked into and when you finish one book you cannot wait for the next. I cannot wait for October for Alpha... I am disappointed that it will be the last...
