I was so happy when I found out this was a series book, unfortunatly the second book in the series. I will be glad when Audible gets the rest of the books in this series. With each book it just gets better and better!
Shelter Mountain is a great follow-up book to Virgin River. I think I liked this book more than the first to be honest. There is so much going on in this book you can't get bored.. And I love how we get to hear more about Jack and Mel!
I actually downloaded this book and never heard of Robin Carr so I didn't realize it was the second book in a series. I loved it the characters were so well developed and the "side stories" were just as good. Narrator is excellent so you can't go wrong. I loved it so much I went and found Virgin River so I could learn about Mel's story. I only hope Audible adds more books by Robin Carr.
I'm a mother of nine wonderful children, 4 daughters and 5 sons. 14 grandchildren all of whom I have encouraged to read read read. Love the audible way so I can either sew or draw !
I had not read any books by this author until I purchased this book. I was pleased as well as intrigued with the content as well as the narrator. Very good job! I will again read this author's books let alone buy them here at audible. I love downloading and listening while working.
From Virgin River to Shelter Mountain seamlessly. Robyn Carr gives us these great characters that take life with her wonderful writing and Therese Plummer's great narration. I am so hooked on this writer I want everyone of her books. She gives us current situations and she knows how to grab your interest, keeping you in her stories, I can visualize each person. Understand their situations. The characters so well developed. I highly recommend.
Don't get sucked in by reviews like I did. This is just a sappy romance with no literary value. I wasted by credit!
I read so I can write
I have read every book in this series twice and am now reading them for the third time so decided it's time I give credit where it is do. Big John is so loveable you just want to hug him and hug him. Am so glad he got the girl.
These books are very well written and Therese Plummer is the perfect person to read them.
I just can't get excited about Preacher's romantic life. It's not a bad book. I'm just not used to such a tame story. I can't get over my mental image of Preacher. And Im spoiled by how much simmering passion Jack exuded in the first book.
Now I didn't finish this book. So maybe there's some great unexpected ending. However, having listened the first half, the fact that I had no great interest in the predictable storyline means something to me.
Why do I give it four stars? I think Robyn Carr is a tremendous talent. Because preacher doesnt fall into my Alpha male category, I never had the open mind enough to get into the story. In other words, it's not the book, it's me... Lol.
I selected this book based on its rave reviews and because it was the right lenght for the trip I was taking. Though somewhat redundant in the first third, I really did like the story and the narrator did a nice job. It could have been a couple hours shorter and still have been as good. I will try another book in the series before deciding if this author is one for me.
