Great!

The narrator was incredible!!! Robert Petkoff was fantastic at keeping this book alive and me ingaged. The book was great and so was the narration.

NOW THIS IS WHY KC IS AN AUTO DOWNLOAD FOR ME

It's not because they are brilliant unpredictable passion filled stories, written by a very talented author, nor because each chapter is packed full of great characters - including hunky vampire types, and not even because KC paints such a visual fantasy world for us to picture and get lost in and finally it's not even because these books are definitely 'adult only' listens....

But put them all together AND THEN finish it off with RP's talented, flawless and gifted narration then you have a paranormal/romance lovers dream listen. This is a 'just one more chapter' type of book - "I'll listen to just one more chapter then get dinner ready..... or start the ironing.... or go to sleep (you get the picture)" all the while knowing that you just can't stop at just one - finally you become a hungry insomniac with nothing to wear

Worth a credit? Well fellow P/R listeners - that would be a big fat YES.... and then some.

Paranormal Romance at it's finest! KC is the best

This is why Kresley Cole is the queen of PNR! She delivered yet another amazing story that complements the IAD world she so brilliantly created! I absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! After reading Lothaire, I couldn't wait to read about the Dacians. The tournament Trehan enters to win Bettina reminded me of the Talisman's Hie from No Rest for the Wicked. It was so full of action and excitement. I also enjoyed the cameos from other IAD characters which just made this book feel like an old friend.

This is a MUST read for fans of PNR and Kresly Cole.

5 stars all around and definitely credit worthy!!

A great start to a spin-off series

Actual rating: 3.5 stars

This book got better as it progressed through. It has the classic KC construction in that the main male character is uncontrollably drawn to the main female while the main female struggles and defies the less intense pull towards the male. These uneven surges then creates the entire basis of the story, with lots of action, humor, death, and lust adding color and depth to the tale.

At first, I was disappointed because I felt like it was the same story with different character names and a different backdrop. Although there is some truth to that, KC is a skilled writer in that she is able to spin the tale with new aspects that, after all was said and done, I really enjoyed the romance. The surrounding events are also very intriguing because Cole does a great job of connecting all of her tales and characters in both a subtle and evident way. Before reading this book, I have read up to book four so there were a few things that I wasn't privy too, but I figure it will make sense once I finish reading them.

Petkoff is perfect for this narration because he has such a strong and powerful voice. His rendition of the female characters were pretty good as well, not making them sound vapid.

So many haters...

I have read so many reviews, and for the most part people don't like this story. I say how could you not. I loves it. The sexy Trehan. The almost impish Bettina. I love the Kresley Cole brings other characters into other stories. When Sabine was introduced into the story i delighted. I also loved Salem. The only character i did not love was Cass.

Please Ms. Cole, do a follow up book with these two, maybe a novel of adventures that they may have!

Absolutely! The narration made the book.

This is the first book in the Dacians series and as much as I loved it I wish I hadn't bought it. It's like Ms. Cole can't finish a series before she starts another. I borrowed my daughter's iPad and listened to all the IAD books on audible and loved every one of them then I bought this one because I'd become so involved in all the immortals lives. Now, god only knows how long I'll have to wait for the next in the series. She has other books on audible but they are all in the first person and I just can't stand that; I, I, I gets so annoying.
Anyway, I can't tell you how much I loved Daciano/Trehan, a killing machine and a tender lover all in one vamp. Caspion was a horny, selfish, bratty demon, but somehow likable. Bettina/Bett/Tina had her issues but she worked through them. Salem? Truly a spectacular character. I loved him as much as I loved Nix in all the other books.

Narration? In a few words: Awesome, spectacular, wonderful, terrific, fabulous, etc, etc.. You get the point.

Ah, those Dacians!

I would like to dial back the emphatic delivery of the narrative about 5%, but only if it didn't affect Petkoff's PERFECT delivery of the conversations between the Dacian cousins, which is SOOO enjoyable. I love those guys! And Trehan is truly a prince of a vampire.

One of the most brilliantly written stories by Kresley Cole, with an amazing performance by the truly masterful Robert Petkoff. This romance has me so enthralled for the entire journey that I grieve its ending. I love the complex and riveting character of Trehan Daciano, so much sexy disdain and enthralling passion that is portrayed through this captivating vampire.
